The SDE Weekend 3: Consent, Kids + Cultivating Safety with Rosalia Rivera

Rosalia will present on the different aspects of body autonomy, boundaries, consent and this foundational education as the basis for raising empowered children that understand their rights, but also the rights of others, and how this can create the robust and more effective transition to body safety education as the child develops. Considering that we exist within an ever increasing rape-culture, this education has become more critical than ever to teach. But this education cannot happen without the understanding of our role as conscious parents and how that translates to our day to day interactions with our children. These are deeply embedded practices from previous parenting generations that need to be unlearned and innovated upon as a collective parent village, not only for our children's safety, but also their mental and physical well-being. This requires cultivating and teaching critical thinking and challenging norms of figures of authority to truly cultivate a culture of consent and safety for current and future generations.
