What a place to visit! Thank You for a warm Welcome Sri Lanka :) Here are some aerial moments from our 19 days trip around the pearl of the Indian ocean.
Sri Lanka Travel Video was made completely using only DJI Mavic 2 drone. I spent 19 days in January 2022 traveling around this beautiful island in the Indian ocean. Me and my wife visited most iconic places of the Indian ocean pearl. Drone flying was my routine almost every morning and evening on this trip. On our route was South Coast with sandy beaches, full of beautiful scenery and vibrant local culture, biggest city in Sri Lanka - Colombo with busy traffic and non stoppable life rhythm and mountains in the middle of the country where you can stay and relax forever. Sri Lanka is ultra interesting and diverse location on planet Earth offering many different landscapes to shoot. Video includes all the best moment from these locations along the country: - Colombo city, Mirissa, Udawalawe national park, Ella town, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy city, Sigiriya, Hiriketiya. It is a memory I will keep forever.

This is awesome mate! The colour grading, the locations, the movements. Im heading to Sri Lanka in one month and will bring my drone too. Hopefully i can manage to make such cool shots👍any specific recommendation on what are the best places to fly? I will be staying there for 10 days.

Hey! I really liked Sigiriya, Nine Arch bridge, whole seaside - those are nice locations to fly around and capture nice views.
Be aware that there are some places where drones are not welcome (like Sigiriya rock) so plan your take off somewhere from more remote location, don't try to rise your drone on the spot.
I had 3 encounters on my trip when someone came and said it's not allowed to fly a drone: it was policeman in Colombo city center, guide on the Pidurangala rock and some local guys in Kandy.
There are strict rules for locals but they go more easy on tourists. Still try to stay as invisible as you can ;D

Nice footage. Couple of questions:
- arial shots in Sigiriya. Were they taken on sunrise or sunset?
- di you use any ND filters and if then did you had to go above ND 32?
I used ND.
ND32/64 is for mid day time. I rarely shoot in the mid day time. In the morning/evening conditions you need ND4/8. Sigiriya shots were taken in the morning.

Curious - how hard was it to get approval to fly there? Did they check your bags when you got into the country? I'm planning to go there soon and wanted to know how much they enforce. Great video!
They didn't check at the airport (at the time I went in) and I didn't seek for any approval because it is for professional production only. If you want to fly whenever you see nice location near beach - permission thing not gonna work..

Nope :) Before trip I googled its OK to fly there. Of course real situation appeared to be different. Locals said its forbidden, some said its OK on some places. I had nothing left to do just YOLO. In Colombo police man came to me and politely said its high security zone and please dont fly. After coming back home I saw article about russian tourist being detained for flying drone in Mirissa.
So overall you have to be careful, dont fly above restricted objects and do your own research about the permits. Maybe its possible to get one. Still I guess it shouldnt be easy :)

Could you help me, I have requested on three occasions to fly the drone on your website, and they always tell me to be more specific about the places. Now they ask me for a letter of no objection that I don't know where to get it. They ask me to fly in lotus kids park.

@@wildskyvisuals hola !! La verdad que fue muy curioso. Solicite todos los papeles como me decían unos meses antes . Media hora antes de entrar en el avión me llega un correo con la autorización y como hacer el pago. Conseguí hacer el pago en extremis y tener esos papeles. Lo que no explican es que después paga volar en los parques necesitas otra autorización del instituto de arqueología. Yo no la tenia, ya que no me lo explicaron en la aviación, y al llegar tenía que enseñar la autorización de aviación y convencer a algún que otro guía para poder grabar algo. La verdad que conseguí imágenes muy chulas 😀
