    It's been a while since I drove the Tamiya Grasshopper 2. 25 years have passed since then. Now It was time to drive it again. And you know what? It was a backflash and it was just awesome! Enjoy!

    Die Videoqualität (Winkel, Schärfe, Handlung, Schnitt) ist wieder einmal atemberaubend!
    Mein Mann wollte als Kind immer unbeidngt einen Grasshoper haben

      Dankeschön! :) Der GH2 war vor 25 Jahren mein erstes Auto. Ich kann mich noch erinnern, dass mein großer Bruder den Thunder Dragon hatte und ich später den 540er Motor von ihm in den GH2 eingebaut habe. Das war einfach toll und für mich damals auch verdammt schnell :)

      Ahh ich erinnere mich an das Nikko Boot. Es muss nicht immer schnell sein, um Spaß zu machen :)

      Nein, gemütlich vor sich hin tuckern ist sehr entspannend :-)

    It is a scene of good car transportation and getting on and off. Very nice!~

      +Kisun's RC Life haha thank you. Yeah it's more transportation than a maiden run :)

    I had no idea Tamiya started making this kit again. I had the original in I think 1987 or 88 but mine had yellow wheels and a 540 motor. I will definitely be buying one of these soon!

      @Remoteaddicted  7 лет назад

      Yeah as far as I know they announced it early this year and I had to get it. Had one in 1992 with a tuned 540 motor and a lexan body and different tires :) It was great.

    I owned a Super G Grasshopper II. I remember throwing a 50,000rpm Reedy motor in it and had to put the wheelie bar from my Midnight Pumpkin on because it was sick fast and the front end wouldn't stay down. Ended up busting the shit out of it beyond repair. I was young and stupid..but had a ton of fun 👍

    • @Remoteaddicted
      @Remoteaddicted  7 лет назад +1

      +TboneNYC10 haha cool. Definitely sounds funny. I actually run the Grasshopper II with a 15 turns motor on 3S. Fast enough for the hopping beast :)

      +rominato Thank you very :) The Grasshopper 2 is great. It's not the performance master but super fun to drive.

    That's so cool - and brought me back to 1989!! I have got to get me one of the re re versions. Maybe two.... so I can totally mod one up through AmPro Engineering, and a brushless motor!! 😁 👍👍😎
    I gotta help a dear friend, who's in serious trouble right now... but soon!
    BTW, that Jeep and Trailer are SICK!! Just subbed

      Thank you very much! I got my first Grasshopper 2 in 1992 but my younger brother stole and sold it. I was so hyped bout the rerelease that I had to get one. Many great memories. The Grasshopper is still an awesome buggy and very fun to drive :) Thanks a lot for your comment and sub :)

    Wonderful! Love your videos. Looks good and very different in black. The GH2 looks bouncy, beautiful and slow. Perfect. Like it should be :-) Like how it is already hoppin' on the trailer. Thumbs up. I can look at this while I'm waiting to build mine :-)

    • @Remoteaddicted
      @Remoteaddicted  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you very much. I think the decision to go black was good because most of the GH2s are colored box art. Next step: install ball bearing, 540 motor and Tamiya upgrade shocks :)

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC 7 лет назад +1

      I also think black was a good choice instead of yellow as you also considered, taking the decal colours into account. Looking forward to the upgrade run!

  • @ShenRC
    @ShenRC 7 лет назад +1

    Came in clean went out dirty! =) Like that you did not paint it box art it looks great!! And a great example of these hopper suspensions also ... see when it's on the flat bed not moving you can see the rear suspension compressing up and down working fine but as soon as you drive it and its moving from throttle you can then see the rear shocks get pulled open and locked and hardly work at all!

    • @Remoteaddicted
      @Remoteaddicted  7 лет назад

      Thank you. Haha, yeah the GH needed some dirt :) After the first 1 or 2 minutes of driving, dust on the damper shafts stopped the whole shock from working correctly. I think when I will go with the Tamiya upgrade shocks the dust shouldn't be a problem anymore :)

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC 7 лет назад +1

      Dont matter what shocks you use on hoppers the rear shocks never work when your giving throttle only after you let off and let the buggy roll! =) Tamiya special design

      Haha, you're right :D

  • @krs7709

    Really enjoyed it! ..noticed now you got oil shocks all round has it made alot of difference? Been torn between getting a hopper 1 or 2 but seems the gh2 is better to upgrade? Do like the look of the black edition gh1 but feel its bit more limited? Both great fun no doubt! Used to have a hornet nearly 30 years ago that was a handfull! Good fun tho..cant wait to get going again!👌

    • @Remoteaddicted
      @Remoteaddicted  6 лет назад

      Thank you very much! Yep the shocks made a lot of difference. Less hopping than before. But the construction of the rear with its suspension is not good. There are some cool tricks to mod it for more performance. There's not that much difference between the two hoppers. I would go with the GH2 because it was my first RC in the early 90s. :)

    Does this use same transmission as a regular first gen grasshopper?

    • @Remoteaddicted
      @Remoteaddicted  5 лет назад

      I think the transmission is the same. There are just some minor changes to the whole chassis. I like the stock suspension on the Grasshopper I more than on the Grasshopper II.

    Is Tamiya still making remote control cars, seems like everything on their website is discontinued?

    • @Remoteaddicted
      @Remoteaddicted  7 лет назад

      I never check the Tamiya website and purchase my RC's through hobbystores like amainhobbies, rcmart, asiatees, tamico or some austrian stores.

      Yes, but it's the stock setup. I think the springs from the kit are way too stiff.
