      That's what I thought. I don't think the first one was even a towing strap.

    • @zoomiemonster5610
      @zoomiemonster5610 6 лет назад

      It wasn't. It was a cargo binding strap like truckers use to hold down pipe and square loads. Surprised it didn't break the first time they jerked on it.

      That is one of the most dangerous things you can do off road. Surly a quick google on how to tackle sand would have been a good idea.

    • @clutch-kicks1012
      @clutch-kicks1012 6 лет назад +4

      J Walker both could happen but mainly the ball becoming a projectile heading straight for what's attached to the other end. Considering its a huge RV on the beach where it doesn't belong , then attaching it to just the tow ball seems to be just asking for it. As obviously at this point commonsense had lost in all that sand.

    • @fisher898
      @fisher898 6 лет назад +2

      j Walker, the snatch strap works like a giant rubber band, not a rope as such, The inertia or energy stored when in use is measured in tonnes, enough to move the bogged RV from the sand. If the tow ball shears off it becomes a projectile. Something like a cannonball. Anyone driving on the beach should be aware of the basics. These clueless people should spend five min on the net. It could save a life.

      lol, it's empty and is a tandem axle. You're really reaching at that point. Why not start unloading the RV, that'd probably make a bigger difference since those were the tires that were sinking.

  • @modsreviews7896

    First thing motorhome driver should have done is not drive in sand thats not packed down. Second, you could have got the fresh water hose out and sprayed water under all the tires and made life alot easier.

      It's not the same as a normal diff in a truck but yes there is an axle going across the front which is called a solid beam front axle. Watch the video. You can see it when the diesel truck pulls hard.

      Being a Brit I have little knowledge of the subject, but I used to have a 1986 Winnebago Minnie Winnie on a Toyota chassis cab, which had IFS. I now have a Damon Challenger on a Chevrolet P30 chassis, which also has IFS. In it's case there was also an option for a Ford chassis, which may well have had a beam axle.
      What puzzles me is all those chassis, plus many others, have a 4X4 option, why did RV manufacturers never choose it. Take the thumbnail, lose the strap, Suburban and trailer and it'd look like an RV brochure cover picture. They're selling a lifestyle they cannot deliver.

    You knew how to use a snatch rope as it was intended to be used and did so. Nice truck BTW 👍
    First guy didn’t have a clue how it was supposed to be done. He was just slowly putting tension on the strap and as soon as it got tight he started spinning and digging himself down.
