Quick update: I played two seasons as the Ranger today (while this video was uploading, incidentally!) and had a lot of fun with it! I will say that, although I was hoping that playing as the Ranger would uncover more of the lore of Mythwind Valley and progress the main storyline along, I found that the outcome of his explorations were much more abstract than narrative! That being said, it's a lot of fun trying to prepare for each day of the expedition and since he takes a fraction of the worker actions as the other characters each season, the game moves along much more quickly! I'm looking forward to rounding out the year as the Ranger and then eventually giving the Merchant and Innkeeper a try! ☺
I love what you said about playing it for over 5 hours when you first got it, into the wee hours of the night! There’s nothing like a great board game that can do that to you! 🙂

I was definitely playing a TON of Glass Road solo (and multiplayer!) when I first got it, too! Such a great game! ☺️ And we haven’t talked about This War of Mine! I actually played the computer game many years ago but haven’t had a chance to try the board game! What do you think about the board game version?

Honestly, I thought this right-for-you, wrong-for-you approach might be more helpful for a game this subjective/unique than just saying what I personally think about the game or giving it my own numerical values! I hope that makes sense! ☺️

Somehow I didn’t even make that connection but you’re absolutely right! With similarly frustrating but fun and puzzly placement restrictions! 🤣 I did play the Ranger twice today and that was fun! And I’ll probably play the Innkeeper next; I feel like that’ll be such a satisfying puzzle, too! 🏨
Mythwind looks really really good and fun and all, but having no interaction is the only thing I have some worries about if Im going to play it 2p. Do you think the expansion "friends and families" is going to tackle this enough? Or is it not much of an issue with you? Thanks for a great video! 😊
I completely understand your hesitation regarding the limited player interaction! Hannah and I did find that we were very much doing our own thing and not having any meaningful interactions besides deciding where to place our worker/sprite dice. 🎲 (Of course, when you're playing solo that's not much of a problem!) According to the publishers, they say that with the Friends & Family expansion, "Players can now visit other characters to benefit from their expertise and perform the socialize action to increase friendship with local villagers, unlocking new and exciting story elements... Each playable character gains a unique way to interact with every other character in play!" I do think they took that feedback about lack of interaction seriously and are trying to rectify that with the expansion, but I don't have any insights beyond that! It seems like they were very aware of the rules issues (especially with the Crafter) so I’m almost sure that they addressed and/or completely overhauled the rulebook for the second edition!
Looks like it’s $355 but one certainly does not need to back this game at the all-in pledge level! It’s only $85+shipping for the base game level! (Which is still expensive for sure, but not nearly so pricey!) ☺️
