Shed to House ~ A Sad Week at the Homeplace

- This week my daughter came for a visit, I assembled a mini chandelier, and then it all went downhill as my dog succumbed to the ravages of old age. Pardon the sadness, but I have found making this video therapeutic and a good start on the road to closure.

I know the feeling. My baby boy was 18 years old. He was in my life from the time he was a very young puppy, a few weeks old. I had to make that decision Nov 18 2022. I didn't want him to be in pain. If anyone ever wants to know what TRUE LOVE Feels like... Get a dog.

Our dogs are our babies, our little children who are in fursuits and walk on 4 legs. I send you big hugs and my deepest condolences. I have 3 dogs. Lost one 3 years ago to cardiomyopathy. It broke me bad. She was my baby. My first rescue since moving here to Texas 14 years ago. My other 3 are now seniors and I'm doing my best for them. I completely understand your deep sadness. Another dog will help heal the pain you feel in your heart. German Shepherds are excellent guard dogs. Contact rescue groups around you who have them ranging from all ages. Here in Houston there are a number of rescue groups who rescue German Shepherds off of this city's streets. I used to foster for a number of rescues here. I'm sure there is a rescue group or a foster of one near you who has your next furbaby. Stay safe and happy. God is watching over you. 🙏 ❤🙂

@A Shed Instead that's super 💗🙂. If you have the rescue's phone number give them a call to let them know that you are interested in adopting one of their dogs and that you submitted an application for it. Because they get busy often with their other rescues, fosters, vet appointments and even get caught up in the rescue work of saving another dog off of the streets. That they can easily overlook your application. If you haven't heard from them by this weekend. Reach out to them again. I'm so happy that you are adopting. You save 2 precious lives by doing this, the dog you adopted and the other one who fills in his/her spot in the rescue. Plus you won't have to worry about vaccinations nor spay/ neutering. Or even vet care. Because the rescue takes care of all of that plus makes sure that your new dog has a clean bill of health. I sound like a crazy recorder here I know 😁. Having been a foster and rescued many from the streets here in Houston. I get so happy inside like a kid on Christmas morning when I see one going to a good loving home. I am so happy for you. Omg, catching up on your video's and I'm balling my eyes out. My Chihuahua's made it to 17 and I was just devastated. I lost one at a time over a years time. A long while after I lost Teala my daughter I think got tired of me so mopey and crying so she said one day. Hey mom, get ready, I'm taking you to a yard sale. Well, it wasn't a yard sale. There before me a woman brought up the most beautiful Chihuahua... I wanted a girl, tiny but HE is a deer legged Chi and he is absolutely perfect. Peanut goes everywhere with me. Tiki, Teala and Rosie have been cremated and they will be at my side when I pass. If he passes before me he will be with us. I know it sounds strange but I spent 17 years with them as my constant companions and my "kids".
It's not strange at all, I get it. I have a little bottle of hair my vet shaved for me before she helped my terrier pass, that bottle will be in my hand for eternity. They absolutely are our babies. I'm so sorry for your loss, but what a wonderful thing for your daughter to do! I had a deer legged chi many years ago, she was precious. ❤️
@@a.shed.instead Peanut is absolutely perfect. (I have a "thing" for Chihuahua's. lol) I'm older. I just turned 60 and hubby is 62 so small dogs are our thing inside the house. Outside we have 3 yellow Labs that patrol. Heated dog house in the winter and we are with them constantly too but the tinys don't mix with the large dogs.. They keep the coyotes, bunnies and every other thing run off the property. We are in northern middle TN and your channel gives us inspiration. We have decided after going from 4,000sqft down to 1865 and now we are looking a shed to home. We don't use half of this house.
I hope it works out for ya'll! I realized my empty nest was way too big for me, and didn't want to keep paying for it and maintaining it! Not to mention all the 'stuff' I had accumulated...ugh 🙂
@@a.shed.instead I'm going through everything right now. It's just too much, In the house is myself. our 36 year old son. (high functioning autistic) and hubby. Hubby for the next few years is still working as an over the road trucker so he in only home 1 night a week. Then retiring after 45 years as a trucker. The bills are a thing I hate paying especially on rooms that we basically don't use. Last year we installed 1 -18,000btu mini split, shut off the central and it heats and cools the whole part of the house we use. The power bill went down by 200.00! I did have to get a dehumidifier for the closed off part of the house since the humidity was making it smell like an old closed up house. :( We closed off the huge family room, master bedroom and the master closet. I just use it for storage and there isn't that much in there being stored. lol
I'm so sorry to hear about Roman. I lost my 2 dogs within 6 months of each other. It was devastating. Felt like my heart was ripped out. When your heart is ready, get another rescue. It will be good for both of you. God Bless you.

Oh but you gave such happy years to his life. I know it's painful. Had to put my funny little Joey down after 16 years together. Try and think of the good times together.

I am at a point I need to take my 17 year old tiny dog and have him put down. He can't walk now both back legs and one front to weak. 😢 I keep praying he would go in his sleep it will be so hard to take him. His name us Elvis . He weighs 4 lbs. He has slept with me for all those years. I have gotten a new therapy pup that is a year now her name is punkin. She will help me too I love her so. Just so hard to say goodbye to my Elvis. 😢
It is so very hard, I'm so sorry. As Roman declined I felt myself hoping he would go in his sleep too, it just didn't happen for him. I wish you well, and an easy end of days for Elvis ❤️
