Some important facts about Gandhi:-
1) In 1921, Gandhi decided to attire himself in only a "dhoti" & a shawl.
2) Gandhi was nominated 5 times of Nobel peace prize. Later Nobel committee publicly regretted its omissions & decided to gave him prize in 1948 but he was assassinated that year.
3) Rabindranth Tagore gave the title "Mahatma" to Gandhi. So he is called as "Mahatma Gandhi".
4) 2nd October is celebrated as "international day of Non-Violence" .
5) Albert Einstein on Gandhi," Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh & blood walked upon this earth".

@@mridulkanti1995 With all due respect, Gandhi type of humanity doesn't work in any period of time because our world is so full of wars, violence, and chaos. Even today, but it takes special people like Gandhi to take the courage to step aside from the hatred that is filled in this world.

Of course he was rich enough even in those times to afford a college degree in England...
So it's natural.
Do watch it guys. This was well researched movie. It is very much near documentary kind of direction trying to cover maximum events.
Its a good movie. It resembles the events pretty accurately. But there were other freedom fighter who pressurised the britishers to reach the decision of leaving India.
yes you are right about others being there, but british were never pressurized, they left out of boredom. They would have dealt with other 20 such Gandhis, yet stay in India,
10:27, this idiotic model was why Gandhi is considered naive. It works on whites, but never on Muslims who slaughtered the Hindus coz they wanted a separate nation. According to Gandhi, if a Muslim comes at me with a sword for the sole purpose of slaughtering my entire family, I should simply let him, this idiotic logic of Gandhi if applied would have single handedly sealed Hindu genocide. As an Indian, nope I don't agree with you Mr Gandhi. Muslims and Britishers are different.

It is a great movie, even as an Indian who knew who Gandhi was, I had no idea what he had to gone through in his life until I watched this movie. Many things they showed in the movie were actually real events which saddens me. We are so lucky to be born in this time.
Richard Attenborough did a thorough study before the making of this film, and it's indeed close to the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The nation as a whole accepted it overwhelmingly. Thanks to those great actors and to the whole crew of Richard Attenborough for portraying it truly.
"Rachel" is why I watch all your videos coz she is beautiful and I love her reactions as well as her laughter, she seems kind and soft woman.
Our history reeks Rachel... The industrial revolution in England made the Britishers quickly powerful. They went on a rampage. From America to India. All over.
There arr still Britishers that say they have zero regrets their forefathers did it.
There probably was a genocide near your house hundreds of years ago. The elimination of native Americans. I don't know if you realize that. Americans forget about Aborigines and focus on slavery

Richard Attenborough has created a masterpiece I'm the form of GANDHI.
Ben Kingsley also has produced a tremendous performance by far breaking his boundaries. The movie is based on strong grounds of history. Every character portrayed is really good.
This actually happened! The character portrayal is spot on, also the accent. You can refer to the actual interviews of Gandhi
I hope people will also remember "Lal Bahadur shashtri", and give reaction on him.
Firstly really appreciate you guys making this video, and secondly do watch the movie. The movie is quite accurate in the portrayal of events in Mahatma Gandhi's life. Also I would echo some of the other comments, there were many other freedom fighters in the Indian history that are not known to many.
The things that stood out was his stance on nonviolence, which you did see in the clips. This idea of nonviolence was the one that made him formidable in the eyes of British Empire.
Also a fun fact about the movie, Sir Ben Kingsley is of a Gujarati descent. And Mahatma Gandhi was a Gujarati.
Ben Kingsley real name is Krishna Pandit Bhanji!
Ben Kingsley was born Krishna Bhanji on December 31, 1943 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England. His father, Rahimtulla Harji Bhanji, was a Kenyan-born medical doctor, of Gujarati Indian descent, and his mother, Anna Lyna Mary (Goodman), was an English actress. Ben began to act in stage plays during the 1960s.
It's a great movie. MUST WATCH

I am a life long student of Gandhi, both his ideas, and his life and the movie caught the spirit of the man amazingly well. People who really loved the man and respected him also loved the film. Many an Indian who watched the production and saw Ben Kingsley in custom paid tribute to Ben off the set. Ben told them he was only an actor and they would reply, "We know, but you have brought the spirit of the man back to us." Watch the whole movie, which won the academy award for best film. One of the best films ever done really.
Ben Kingsley did complete justice to Gandhi character and this movie is really close enough to the reality what we Indians have gone through...must watch movie.
I think the movie does justice with the image of Gandhi and as far as I'm concerned I can't think of any part fictitious in the movie.

Gandhi is the greatest man ever to have lived on Earth. Albert Einstein's famous words on Gandhi: 'Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth'. This is so true. In our current generation and years to come, I don't think anyone can come as close to Gandhi. In our present world, where everyone is fighting on account of cast/creed/religion, waging wars for profit, nations running with jealousy and destroying our world, this is the time we need him the most.
Miss you Bapu :'-|
Hi, I thing 95% to 98% similar with Gandhi's life
He is very well respected from the ages.,,,, And he is known as father of India.,,, Every community respect him.,,, And all over the world as well.,,, Without him we can not imagine India.,,,,

You guys are great!! And your selections of videos is the best!
Guys today is also LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI'S B-Day too...he is the 2nd PM of India who was murdered for political reasons by kgb and KGB really put a strong hold on our country,my countr was a spy's Disney land😓...
Shastri was fierce freedom fighter he was the only PM who truly worked for economic growth and was abt to uncover India's economic potential with his policies... We also won a war with pak during his office..Hail soldier Hail Farmer was his slogan...
Yes GANDHI is overly cooked up on the world scale coz it suits the narrative of the then Soviet Union..
Not today after many years we are celebrating Shastri's B-Day on the scale he deserved as our leader....
Also Gandhi(posterboy) never really won us freedom it was Shubash Chandra Bose with his Indian National Army and inner conflicts the Brits had to leave India after WW2,if not Brits would hv stayed a long time and changed our culture too..

Watch the movie he did an amazing job, the whole movie is too good by the way a british directed the film.
David Attenborough directed it & won Oscars for it!
I have to say I really love your reaction videos! Keep up the great work!
When Ben Kingsley was filming Gandhi in his attire in hometown of Gandhi people thought Gandhi had come to life and fell onto their knees.
Gandhiji is our Father of the nation
His biopic is true.
Love you Gandhiji
Awsome reaction
When Gandhiji went to the UK to meet the king, it was cold winter evening and he wore the cotton loin cloth (dhoti). Later the English press asked him about his attire as to why he wore so scantily, Gandhi replied, “the King wore enough for both of us”. This is an example of the dry humor that the great man had.
One of the finest films ever made. We studied this movie in film school
MUST WATCH. Very good work by Richard Attenborough, director of this movie. Depicts his life as is.
well he is loved even more than ever I want millions of Gandhi in my bank accounts because his face is there on each note
On this movie "Gandhi" - Hollywood did a great job in doing this movie! It's very close to real "Gandhi" , that includes his accent, looks, thoughts and very facts that happened those days . The actor simply made "Gandhi" alive on screen..
Gandhi, Movie was nominated for 11 Oscar, won 8 including best actor, director and best movie in 1982. It was a great success all over the world.
For your information most People don't respect Gandhi anyone , as they blame him for creation of pakistan , but these WhatsApp graduates doesn't know that he did not have the option , British gave one year to solve all the internal issues or they won't leave so he ceded to give pakistan as he valued independence more than anything and he didn't know pakistan will turn on india after partition .
So sad to his own people are now against him . People forget he wasn't god and he wasn't perfect but he was a major reason the British left india .
Glad u made this comment. Some stupid thinks Gandhi did nothing. Hardly they know that Gandhi went jail for 11 times. He was Hindu but believe in secularism. On the day of independence when majority of leaders were celebrating, Gandhi was agitating for Muslims.
Feels bad that today no national party or any particular religion respect him as much he deserved. People make memes of him. The major reason for this bcoz he fighted for secularism. That's what happened when u become too good for people!
I didn't even knew about this movie till I watched your video.
Their are some old movies on Mahatma Gandhi.
I think it's a very balanced movie. Minimum to no biases. You guys must watch it. It was well recieved in India too, it's telecast on many of the TV channels in India on Oct 2nd every year. I've grown up watching this movie, many a times.
Although you may just keep in the back of your mind that he was not solely responsible for getting India independent, there were many other armed uprisings too. Plus there were some geopolitical reasons too like the World War and America's demand of a free world after supporting the British alliance in world war 2 etc.
Peace out

It's a strange thing that Gandhi, being directly in opposition to the British Empire in many ways, is highly respected by the British. Not so much in other parts of the world.
One of the marks of a good society is the respect it shows to noble opposition.
This is very much related to Gandhi
Btw Ben Kingsley is indian . In an interview he revield his real name. So he knows hindi. His grandfather left Kerala,India in 1890s.
when a injustice is documented, clearly labeled bad, and made a movie on, its easy to sympathize with it. But irony is, we see plenty of injustice around us in everyday life, and as it not documented anywhere, and as there is no public acknowledgement of it, we ignore it and many times party to it.
Story is exactly similar in the movie to the original story
One more thing. The natural reactions, the look on your faces, of all of you were so heart-warming and sincere. You all give me added faith in the human race when you reveal your hearts that way to injustice and human sacrifice on behalf of the betterment of others.
Best reaction guys, i love the movie , i saw it 10 times..
It's a great movie..a must watch
This is very accurate
Gandhi never said NOT to fight.. He preached non-violence.. Big difference..
He preached not to react to someone's offences violently, but fight it by not accepting it, acknowledging it or adjusting about to accommodate it.. Stand firm by your conscience.. by what you believe is right and just.. Infact Gandhi himself acknowledges his methods require the greatest of mental fortitude, strength and will showcased by great true warriors..
He is still highly regarded in India as the man who got us our freedom. He is popularly referred to as "Mahatma" meaning "The Great Soul" and affectionately called also as Bapuji - literally means father and is regarded as the Father of the Nation. These should indicate his stature and the eminence and reverence he is still held in today. Almost every city and big town in India has a road or street named after Gandhiji. His statues, busts and monuments to him and photos of him are commonplace across the country. But yes as time passes, the newer generations of Indians are not that aware of the freedom struggle and his importance, though they are widely taught in school. Much the same way how many young black americans today are aware of Dr. MLK and his contribution.
As an Indian I’m afraid to say that most of the racism that existed then also exists now, albeit a little indirectly that’s all.
Is there a country without racism ?
Racism stems from not knowing. Racial discrimination stems from an inherent (but unrecognized) superiority complex combined with a deep hatred for everyone outside your race. Common racism is usually harmless, but in positions of power this leads to racial discrimination which is very harmful for society at large.
Do watch it. It covers most events of Gandhi's life. Pretty well researched and pretty accurate. But India too have other freedom fighters.
Happy Birthday Gandhi Ji we miss you a lot at these harsh times.... Many of who don't admire Gandhi Ji now my only message to them is Gandhi Ji never wanted everyone to admire him, there's always a space for dissent that must be left be good in what you're doing as Gandhi Ji said.
