You're absolutely right about the gain being particularly sensitive. I tend to find that that's generally the case with Boss amp modellers but not with other brands that I've tried. Another thing to get the hang of, although you may well have already noticed this by now is that generally with the majority of moddelers from any brand, the treble control can be a bit tricky too. Go easy on the high end or you'll start to get some fizzy sounding frequencies coming through. In fact, I find that if you have a graphic EQ at hand then setting up a filter to cut some of those very high frequencies can really tame your overall sound and make it a lot more natural sounding. But if you don't already have one then maybe try doing it in a DAW before going out to spend more money. But you seem to know what you're doing already so you probably knew that you could do that without me telling you.
@@brendanm6921 That’s a lot of useful information! I went for Boss because I’ve always liked their “Diamond” sound. To me, it sounds more like an AC4 than AC30. The tweaks you propose are really helpful. I normally use 1/4 watt tube power amplifiers, and that’s really hard to model. Many thanks!

I find their stuff to be really great for super hi fi glossy tones with loads of ambient effects like reverbs, delays and modulators, which is generally how I personally prefer to sound. But obviously it's all down to how the individual uses it.
