Great video, thank you, steam trains taking me on holiday to the West Country and Wales in the late 50's/early 60's, particularly Aberystwyth shed's sparklingly clean Manors, gave me a love of 9(steam) trains I have never lost.
Cracking video Liam. I always love the amazing bark from 7827..Never fails to impress...probably the loudest of the Manors in preservation these days ! Well filmed...Cheers...Steve.~
Nice footage, just disappointing that this railway didn't overload em like they to Bitten and the Southern 4-6-2 Pacific. They would've sounded better with 15 carriages because visiting locomotives get overloaded. But this is a scenic line.
GWR locomotives sound the best, I don't know why but they make the characteristic sound that everyone thinks of when they imagine a steam locomotive. A deep chugging sound unlike stuff like the LNER A4s which sound raspy.
The Manors were re-draughted in the early 50's with a smaller blastpipe and taller slightly thinner chimney to improve the steaming which it certainly did. Even the official report mentions the very sharp blast. Almost as loud as a single-chimney Castle, probably the loudest loco on BR.
This useless Country is rife with the lack of info everywhere and this is another disgusting case of the endemic terrible lack of publicity in the UK, as again there was no info of these Manors double heading whatever anywhere. So I hope there are doubled headed Manors done again a few times on the Torbay and Dartmouth and maybe on other lines, and advertised as they should have been before and the culprits responsible for this bad lack of info should get a very big bollocking.
That solo clip from 7827 beats the double headed run in my opinion can't get enough it stunning video well done
Steamonscreen Thanks very much. It was certainly the best solo performance of the day. Glad you enjoyed it. Regards, Liam
BUT IT DISGUSTINGLY WAS NOT ADVERTISED, THE LACK OF INFO RIFE AND ENDEMIC OF THE USELESS UK.
Lydham Manor 7827 , what a fit and strong girl she is , beautiful to see her running so well in this video.

***** Thanks, Steve. I'd agree with your assessment on 7827. They certainly know, how to get the best out of her. Regards, Liam
Lovely pictures and a glorious noise - thanks again
Nice clean exhaust too.
They do look smart in B.R Black. The Manors can pull of most liveries imo. Thanks for watching.
Superb footage indeed and a wonderfully throaty noise. Thank you for uploading
Dave Howe Many thanks. Very throaty indeed.
Takes me back to family holidays and watching from Broadsands Beach. Looked very good indeed.
Keith Alexander Glad the video reminded you of past holidays. Always a great place to visit.
Beautiful shots and sounds, Thank you for sharing,
Ernest Johnson Thanks as always, Ernest.

+Francisco Antonio muchas gracias mi amigo
Manors were very rare at Didcot during 60's when I was "spotting" !!
Brilliant sounds!
AndreiTupolev Music to our ears !
Can you name the different areas along the sections of railway please? It looks like heaven! Thanks.

Not a western fan but the manors look great in BR black. It suits them in my oppinion.
Excellent!
Christopher Searle Cheers ! Much appreciated.
Bet he was lifting the fire with an exhaust like that. As I remember while on the footplate 60 years ago
Man, that looks as steep as the appalachian trail!!!
It's 1 in 66, so quite a heave.
Next stop Glandyfi but I can't remember ever seeing one in black...
