I have the KL203P they are a great little work horse. Very low drive amp. Absolutely no more than 1 watt of drive. Mine is the mosfet version. It does 150ish peak. They work and work well for what they are.
A Galaxy 959 only pushes 35 watts, it's best suited with a low drive amp such as a 2 pill, 1x2, 1x4, etc. It won't push a high drive amp such as a straight 4, 6, 8, etc.
My kl 203p is hitting 250 whatt pep on ssb. I have soldered in some heavy duty power cable and done away with the fuse holder inside the amp and put the fuse nearer the power supply and cut some of the metal backplate out with a dremil and added a small fan to the back thats blowing air inside and over the fins and this amp has been running like this for about 8 years now using a president licoln and an astatic teardrop and get excellent radio reports from everyone. For the money the amp cost and the time its lasted who cares if it blows its got me out worldwide
I bought the RM Italy UHF VLA200V amp a few years ago and absolutely hated it. It won’t operate on anything above 1.2 SWR, I hope they fixed this issue. I’ve never tried the 10 mtr versions.
I have a stock 980SSB and have been looking at this amp to run with it. Do you think I will need to make adjustments to the radio or good being stock? Good video!
You'll need to lower the dead key for sure. 350 radio is excellent at setting the 980's up. He can do just about anything you'd like to them. 350 radio on Facebook. He's a good honest guy and does great work.
I wouldn’t my opinion I ran this amp with my modded cobra 148 at 1 watt then turned amp on and my watt went sky high amp is good with a stock radio but you can try it
I'm not sure how much fluff the meter shows once the modulation is turned up on the radio, however for what they are, these little amps are pretty good IMO.
@@vegasfordguy Rooster CB channel test all amps before they leave his store and hes had several doing 190 pep so yours is a bit stronger I think its accurate.
I like those rm amps. For what they are they do a good job. They get alot of bad talk about them but for the money, they get my vote.

I bought my 980ss for $65 about 7 years ago from a website because I had a coupon.I.paired it with a galaxy 225 and it's a great combo.
Have that same setup in one of my trucks. And a 955 in another. Hooking up a silver eagle 350 to the stryker this weekend.
I believe the buzzing noise is coming from the ferrite resonating. I have an amp that does that too.
Great radio and amp
Same set up. About 118 on am and 125 on ssb. Got mine for 130 at pilot back in 2012. The 1st series. It's still talking
I got my 980ssb for $90 brand new off Amazon. Crazy what the prices have come to. -Station18
I have that exact set up. Ended up pulling them and replacing with a 959. Now I need a high drive amp lol

If you put a hi flow fan on that thing you could key down all day lol Good video

Is there's a cbradio truck stop here in San Jose Ca or nearby ???
Are you able to turn the deadkey down on this particular radio?
Saw one in the pilot today for 219.00
Man, not until put my dead prez in the truck did I realise how poor the recive is on those things
Poor receive on the Uniden 980?
@@vegasfordguy yes, when compared to my lincoln 2 plus on the same 6ft firestick

@@louisdalessandro2495 How do you lower radio to 1 watt
Can I use this amp with my HR2510 if I turn down the radios DK to 1 watt AM and 10 to 15 watts P.E.P. swing on SSB?

I've got thr same radio and a rm italy 503

For amp and bearcat 980ssb together
Found one at Walmart online for $144. was cheaper then Amazon
That's because low deadkey and that bearcat is a swing monster. Mine does 175
Sir that was 230 pep thats why I bought one you get a lot for the money.

First time I hook up my maco 3oo shut down the world 🌎 my dad said turn down that amp 😞
I can run my Stryker 955 from 15 watt dead key to 68 watts pep and turn it down to a 1 watt dead key and 10 watts pep so I can run that AMP
There's no reason to use this amp with a Stryker. It won't last.
