The phrase also does not tell us what counts as part of that “95% of gamblers” idea. What kind of gambles? Does the lottery count? Does my 15 year old video game that got abandoned by valve count? Does a child playing rock paper scissors count, even? Probably not, but that lack of specification leads to people getting baited. I’m not an expert on this thing so correct me in a reply, but fuck this dumbass 95% thing. TL;DR the chance of failure on the current gamble isn’t lowered by how many times you gambled prior. That just means you fucked up and lost multiple times already.

I ended up trying out the Sandman after the BWA video, and I've developed an odd fondness for it? I've had situations where the slowdown saved my life from a W+M1 Pyro or crippling a Demoknight mid charge, and I think I'm gonna be using it unironicaly now lmao
What it does isn't entirely useless, the downside is just quite severe. Slowing someone down is only sometimes gonna help while having less health is always bad. If you are having fun then keep using it, I think its pretty lucky to be into a "shit" weapon because the strange pro kill streak is really cheap
You know what would be cool? If a moonshot with the sandman gave you a speed boost, so you know, you could catch up to the stunned target before it wares off.
If you want some ideas for how the sandman could be rebalanced into something actually fun *and* viable, I have a 2-part plan that I came up with recently. A plan that also actually directly references the sandman being a *baseball* themed weapon. Part 1: We actually visit the babyface's blaster for this one. Remove its penalty on double-jumping, but keep its penalty on being hit (altho make it more lenient god please). Remove the base speed reduction penalty as well. Nerf it so that full speed charge gives you 20% extra bonus speed instead of 40%. That is part 1. Part 2: We now descend upon the sandman. First order of business, completely discard the idea of a stun completely forever goodbye stun. Instead, hitting an enemy with the baseball gives you a 20% movement speed bonus, with the duration depending on the distance away from your sandman hit (i'd say 10-15 seconds max idk testing required). For the SANDMAN's speed buff, double jumping will remove it (also playing with the idea of just having it so the sandman removes scout's double-jump as a penalty, which would honestly prolly just feel better. trade air speed for move speed) The sandman helps you get into combat, the babyfaces helps you stay in combat, and it amplifies your combat presence at the cost of only having 4 rounds in your scattergun, while also not having the speed boost be overly punishing. You can lose up to half of it by getting hit in combat, but you can build it back up just as fast, and regardless, you keep that 20% from the sandman until that timer runs out. IMO this could be an extremely fun and sweat-inducing combo if tuned right, where the scout is fighting against the clock to get as much work done as possible before having to pull back and hit another moonshot.
Also make the Sandman Moonshots crit like the Wrap Assassin because it no longer stuns. Maybe also make it so that reflecting the ball gets an automatic moonshot instead of regular minicrits. Maybe also make the ball a bit easier to pick up now since the stun mechanic made it easier to grab than a speed boost would.

Also the idea is that a max duration speed boost would last longer than it takes to recharge a new ball anyways, so the more moon your shot gets, the less you'll need to pick up the ball
@@CorwinTheOneAndOnly Personally, I think actively forcing the ball to be picked up for constant speed boosting would synergise with the idea of damage not clearing the boost, but considering the health penalty and how dangerous it is to be that predictable against real players, that's a fine alternative and possibly the push that both the Sandman and Wrap Assassin would need to balance evenly with the Atomizer( and the Boston Basher if you are an omniscient god of M1 inputs).

Apparently the TF2 Team updated one of the achievements a while back for the Sandman to get multiple environmental kills after hitting someone with the Sandman ball, since the stun mechanic got removed. But how the hell is slowing someone down going to make them more likely to walk into a map hazard? Wouldn't that make it easier for them to *avoid* it? I know you can just use the Force-a-Nature or the Shortstop shove or something, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the achievement being for the Sandman.

cool idea for the sandman, maybe instead of a slow and 15 dmg it could do 25 dmg and scale up to 75 with distanse but with out the slow , or make the ball do 35 with the slow that it has now.

The Sandman in TF2 has always seemed like a strange case to me. On one hand if you like how this weapon worked but hate how unfair it was it's nice to have it balanced. But on the other hand, The Sandman usually is not very used since it was nerfed poorly and became useless.
Padres did great this season, they beat their division rival, the dodgers, in the NLDS but then they got owned by Bryce Harper in the last game of the NLCS. Pretty cool moment, not for the Padres though, good luck in 2023 Padres
