- It's taken me a good while to get this done but finally got it done for Christmas! This is a cut down video of a footplate ride on Bullied Light Pacific 34092 "City of Wells" running from Bury to Rawtenstall on the East Lancashire Railway 14th September 2018.
I would like to point out a couple problems with this, because I filmed it on two seperate runs from Bury to Rawtenstall with one camera each on each run, there are some clips that don't have the best continuity and with that one camera on seperate run situation it also means that the audio doesn't quite match up either but I've tried my best with it. If theres any other problems with it then just comment below and I'll try and fix it!
I would also like to thank Driver Paul and Fireman Joanne for letting me set up the GoPro's and having to put up with me for whole the day, was a fun day on the footplate!
With that being said, enjoy! Авто/Мото
Firing equally smooth left and right handed. Very good! Some firemen seem to refuse to learn. It’s the easiest way to really getting the coal into the back corners on wide boxes.
That's just what I picked up from this video. Versatile lady
Your profile looks like bootleg William osman
@@yaboilemonboi5223 haha, had to look him up, but I see what you mean. It’s the result of barbers being shut for months because of Belgian covid rules and not giving crap anymore. When “blessed” with curtly hair it is a pointless effort trying to make it look decent 😂
Attention seeker
2:00 effortlessly switching between left and right hand firing that right there is some skilled firing
Not good firing at all, i only watched about five minuets and was laughing. Why? 1. The foot shuffling rather than pivoting from the waist. 2 Appearing to ignore the bright white spots on the fire.3. Having to shovel from the driving side when firing to the left of the box. 4. leaving coal on the floor. Footplate should be swept after every round of firing. And before anyone tries to shoot me down I was a BR fireman and worked on 34092. I noticed that the technique For reaching the back corners seemed reasonable. The good thing about seeing these clips is I know i will fall asleep thinking of the good runs. Strange, i never think of the rough trips. T

Takes me back to a 15 year old train spotter at Brookwood , circa 1961,watching this and others of her class hauling express services to Salisbury and beyond. Brookwood had no platforms against the fast lines so no speed limits. 100 MPH through the station was normal.
Sadly I could not afford even a Box brownie.
The legendary Joanne Crompton in action 🙂
Driver G and the Bury Belle showing how its done on a Superior Bulleid Locomotive.
The East Lancs seems a good railway nice stations and engines, great video I like footplate videos it shows it isn’t as easy as some make out it is, keep up the good work 👍👍
Hahaha, love the pink bardic! Have to paint mine a suitable colour.
Well done guys, looks like you did a great job. Looks alot harder than the modern traction I drive (HST/180/IET).
Cheers Rich
Excellent work Chris.
A great video, lucky ladies on the footplate only wish I could do the same.
Very good video Chris. It is the closest I will ever get to being on the footplate whilst the locomotive is running.
VERY SMOOTHLY DONE, LOVE TRAINS.
What a great firewoman. Well done.
Thank-you from the U.S.A.
great stuff... its a shame there are so few opportunities like this in my area
Brilliant video well done great camera and nice video of the footplate of 34092 bye for now Philip
Ooooh nice... Wish norway wasent so hastely in getting wrid of all the treasures when steam was discarded....
We had beeching who saved the small lines In The end and dai from Barry island, who was a bit relaxed in cutting the locos up for scrap :)
Nice clean starts!
Cool video, nice job. Thanx 😎👍
Wish I could be with you all on this engine for a first hand experience.
thank you. from turkey.
Amazing effort and superb firing
Keep up the good work ^_^
7:51 I was thinking is this definitely a Bulleid pacific, it hasn't slipped ye...oh, hang on.
🇮🇳💐⚘❤ i love steam locomotive and crew 💐⚘🇮🇳
Nice one!
Awesome video Chris. What's with the 'machine gun sound' I could hear throughout the video? I like the comment in the description: "...... and Joanne having to put up with me for the whole day" 😆😆😆😁
Its the steam ejectors
Looks like an expert is on the footplate handling her business
The pink Bardic lamp is a nice touch.
Nice video
34092 City of Wells
On second thoughts, I hope there wasn’t a diesel on the end...?
No diesel on either runs
Awesome... Beautiful!! I would love to trade jobs with them!!😁😁😁❤
Do you still respond to comments? Why were you in reverse the whole trip? Just curious
Yes, Im not dead 😂
Reason for that is because at the time of filming 34092 was facing south and the route going North from Bury to Rawtenstall is all up hill, so it allows you to see more of firing done
What are the 3 valves that the fireman or firelady was turning please
They'll be the water injectors
Thank you for replying
@@philiptaylor664 also there's 4 of them
Cab rides cost about what 500 Pounds for one round trip on footplate of a steam engine at the elr railway I would like that for my birthday this year
Or you could become a volunteer and work on the footplate for free?
@@AinscoughProductions woohoo yay
How does she get her coat on and off so quickly?.........LOL
☺👍❤❤❤
Q Do you keep warm on the footplate in the winter ?
Depends on the engine, but overall yeah that roaring fire does keep us warm
My dad was a driver on the LMS for 47 years, all through ww2. He said in the winter being on the footplate was "All burnt backside or nothing"
😍💪💪👍👍👍
A nyakkendő viselete mondjuk " kicsit " nevetséges 🤣👍🙋
OK! N.
Esta chica si que es ruda!
Young lady, you are as fit as a fiddle, you are so strong and intelligent. God, all you men out there, look and learn, this is is how to be a hardworking fire person. Darling, you have been brilliant. I have recently watched a Flying Scotsman footplate video….. you are far more brilliant…..you are flying Scotsman material.
Men out there……look at this….
Kind regards Ken from Rutland.
Nice Nice Nice, thank you 👍✌
Please get the lady a proper grease top hat.
I love England. Everything is on the wrong side!!
Зачем нужен помощник машиниста и кочегар если машинист делает все сама
I would be great to be on the footplate of a steam train I find it a bit strange how you have to wear a shirt and tie to shovel coal
It was normal during the days of steam. My late father was a driver on the LMS for 47 years. As a fireman he had to report to work 1 hour early to check all was well with the locomotive, sand and oil boxes full, everything clean. His driver sent him home one day to change his shirt from a blue one to white and a black tie!
The mighty Joanne Crompton, born with a fireman's shovel in her hand. Pity the ELR management sacked her.
@applecounty why did they sack her?
@@Gary-cvr23 Tis a long, persnal story best told by Joanne.
@@applecounty well im not close to the ELR.
unusual lack of grey hair on the footplate crew lol
Fireman needs to get his haircut, though !: 0)

Shame!! My old man shovelled that black stuff over a lot of the NIMT in NZ..., I think he fell in love with the job n the crews..🌹 rip
Why shame??

😂, sorry.. it’s a saying that I learnt from S Africans.. lol it doesn’t really fit into normal English.., it just how they say it & I learnt to use it
Great video but the chick either has a hat on or doesnt.. good to see lady s out there getting there hands dirty
The reason for the hat disappearence is because it was filmed on two different round trips whilst I only have one GoPro clamp, so I've tried piecing them together the best I can
@@AinscoughProductions Only those who edit know the struggle :)

Guessing you're the 8th dislike then?
The quote engineer playing with the phone while the lady works her ass off didn’t impress me, rather disgusted me!
I mean, he's the driver, he could be checking their phone for whether the train is on time, or if they have a message/missed phone call from the 'Responsible Officer' (RO) for any emergencies just as an example. Just because they are on their phone doesn't necessarily mean they are updating their facebook status. I even look at my phone occasionally because I don't wear a watch whilst on the footplate
Does it take 3 people to operate?
@@timothykissinger4883 back in British rail it was normally just a Driver and Fireman, not sure what it's like everywhere else but the ELR allows cleaners to ride on the footplate so they can assist the Driver and Fireman (even though it looks like I'm doing nothing...)
Same at the Bluebell, cleaner is learning the fireman’s job.
Anna...then you have no idea what you are talking about! The "lady" is the loco fireman. The firemans role is to maintain a head of steam. That's exactly what she is doing.
Nothing wrong with the others on the footplate not helping out.
