Neither am I, but you know what, their IFE that you can access on your device isn’t so bad. It’s kinda cool. But they’re definitely cutting cost with this one and it’s a shame.
I also do not like that but when you look at travelers nowadays, most of them are so attached to their personal devices. So I believe MH has made the right decision.
@@matzmn , to savvy passengers with their NC h-phones etc yes, but not to all. Other airlines are improving their IFE with bigger screen. Hope the weight saving benefits are passed back to the passengers.
I actually don’t quite understand all the complaints about no IFEs for a 2-3 hour flight. In other regions, there’s none and all you get is perhaps a bottle of water and a piece of chocolate. Here you get a full warm meal, and you still get access to entertainment albeit on your own devices that we still have anyways. More importantly is that Malaysia Airlines keep their planes on time, be safe and always have professionalism in their passenger engagements. I think their banking on sustainability is the right way to go in the longer term.
Beautiful window view footage and the food looked delicious! It would have been nice to hear about changes in cabin pressure etc if you felt any. This is one of the improvements in the new aircraft I understand.
1:47 - that's actually the NEW retrojet, not the old one on 9M-MXA, which is now repainted into the Negaraku livery. I prefer the new one because it's a more accurate representation of MH's 1970s livery. Also, the LEAP engine sounds quieter compared to the CFM56 that I'm used to.
I had a chance to fly onboard in Batik Air Malaysia B737-8 a couple of weeks ago from KUL to DPS. And I'd tell ya, the B737-8 is a super terrific plane, although as an av geek with extensive knowledge of what happened to the MAX a couple of years ago, I was terrified a bit when it was doing a take off roll; like I was glued to my desk knowing the MCAS incident could happened at any moment, while my wife that sits beside me just doing on her business unknowingly haha. But I agree with that landing lights. I landed at DPS at night and it was so bright it lighted up the cabin partially and substantially. I wonder if Boeing could do anything about it.
nice shiny new jet! i like how fresh the cabin looks but wondering about the comfy level. I dont mind no IFE for short hauls but I understand its also removed from business which i dont quite agree with
Hey there! The level of comfort is generally perfect for a short to medium haul flight. Of course, it’s down to opinion on this one. Yeah, the removal of IFEs for business class is the most dumbest thing ever. Not entirely sure where MAG is going with this one, but it’s definitely the wrong way. Thanks for watching! :D
Yeah, I don’t blame you haha. But I find that if the airlines trust them, then I will. It would be a huge loss for them if one crashed so they must have a lot of faith in them now. Must be quite convincing that it’s safe. Thanks for watching!
Very good video. I like how they switched to the US style of IFE where you use your own device to access the entertainment options. This reduces the cost of maintaining 100+ screens and in-seat systems and reduces a bit of weight. Another difference from the regular 737 is that the MAX actually has a bigger engine and sits further forward of the wings (and this is why Boeing implemented the MCAS system since moving the engines shifted the center of gravity of the aircraft; and the system was at fault for both fatal incidents involving the MAX which has now since been fixed). Also, the Malay subtitles are a bit weird. There are quite a few places where I would offer a better translation (I find it funny that "taxiing to the runway" is translated as "menaiki teksi ke landasan," as you are riding a taxi rather than performing the act of taxiing, an aviation term for moving from one to another on the ground; a better way to say is probably just "bergerak ke landasan") and more appropriate terms in place. Otherwise, it's overall pretty good.
Yeah! I thought having no IFEs was a bit strange for a flag carrier but actually, it works pretty well. It honestly doesn’t matter if they have no tvs. Many people were upset that Malaysia Airlines had removed the IFE screen but as long as you have a device and headphone, you’ll be fine. Yeah I know. The Malaysian subtitles are a bit strange. It’s my second language so I still have a bit to learn. I had google translate help me with some so I assume that’s where the mistakes come in haha. Thanks for the comment and watching! :)
@@LeeAviation Yeah, again, this is definitely emulating the US carriers, who had been doing this for years. Since everyone carries a smart device nowadays, it's easier to have wifi with a local intranet connectivity to access the entertainment. It also saves the airline of having to clean and refurbish the headphones every time. No worries, you'll there. Perhaps in the future you can work with a native speaker who can help you verify the translation.
It's a shame that they downgraded the IFE when they recently just spent a lot of money on the new safety video, and they have to revert back to manual demonstrations now
Hmm, not really. Most of the noise comes from the rushing wind outside which can’t really be stopped unless the walls are decently thick like the A380.
@@ongwanhaurFunny enough, the door that was ripped off that Alaskan flight was produced in Malaysia. And when it was fitted on the aircraft, it was essentially not done properly.
Hope you guys enjoy this flight review! Malay subtitles are also available :)
First person to make a trip report on their new 737 max!
Congrats on MH receiving their first B737MAX! :)
Honestly not a fan of them removing IFE screens from the seats though

Thanks for documenting this for all of us to see!

The livery looks great on the 737max!!
Will fly on MAS 737-Max next week. Can't wait to compare how MAS products compares to others I've flown in.

That’s right!
I couldn’t really notice a difference to be fair. But it is probably a little quieter.
Wow that's amazing, honestly
Good report
The aircraft looked very good and as always M/A food is good really like the airline 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I guess i will be flying AA to/fro East Malaysia from now on. Will not set my foot on those 737 max
Fantastic! Love the MAS 737 Max! 🎉

I flew on Icelandair’s 737 max 8 and i would say its fit for like a 5-6hour flight (like from ord were i flew out of) but 6+ hours is too much for me
The spoilers were used to increase the rate of descend. Only to decelerate once landed as it is also a speed brake.
Hi lee.. Hope that your BM subs will improve iin the future... But a good job though
Thank you! Yeah I know it’s not completely correct so apologies for that!
Got check the rudder-control linkage mechanism. It seems 737 MAX got some issue

Is Max 8 using the same door supplier as Max 9?
The MAX 8 does not have the additional door as the MAX 9 and in Alaska's case, they "plugged" that door but apparently was poorly done.
