  • Retired medieval history professor Richard Landes (Boston University), who is perhaps best known for coining the term "Pallywood," presents a lecture on the meaning of a phenomenon identified by his physicist friend and colleague David Deutsch, known as "The Pattern," which refers to the circular nature of the necessity of legitimizing anti-Semitism throughout the ages. According to Deutsch via Landes, all societies must, for some yet undiscovered reason, maintain "the legitimacy of harming Jews. One need not act out that legitimate deed, but one must, at all costs, even to oneself, establish that legitimacy... further reflection suggests it’s a key to understanding some of the more profound dimensions of 'the longest hatred.' " Landes expands from this academic discourse to hold court on all sorts of current hot-button issues of today, from Trump to intersectionality and beyond. A program of ISGAP, it was recorded at their headquarters in Manhattan.
