MP 54's were on the Pennsylvania RR, as far as I know, none ever came to California. Back about 100 years ago, "portholes" were the "in thing" among some designers of electric railway cars. PE also had about two dozen hand-me-downs from the SP Oregon electrification which also had porthole end windows. Then there was the McKeen self-propelled car, which had LOTS of portholes.
I remember as a kid I could hear that train whistle at night all the way from Alameda Street when I lived in East Wilmington at the Port of Los Angeles in the late 50's.
Hi Gary.... I am a Brit but used to live in Glendora CA. many years ago and became interested in the PE system and interurban's. I would like to convert some Bachmann passenger cars I have into interurban's for my G Scale layout. Are there any component suppliers to assist in building. Did you build your completely from scratch? Kind Regards John. UK
