Have you ever gone on a dirt road at night or on rain because that's where this thing is useful , not on a dry day or just cruising around in the city , this system is there for a reason .

Now if your car's already covered in mud to the point where you need this system to clean your headlights then yea it's not gonna make it look any worse.

@@mrjpz don’t really have the time to wash my 2011 BMW 328i (E90) once a week, and it’s got headlight washers. Besides, it’s only worth around 7k after depreciation and it’s got 111k miles. I think it’s important for people to understand that buying a used BMW/Mercedes/Audi or whatever really isn’t much (depending on the model of course)

In some countries, cars with xenon or LED headlights are legally required to have them for getting a road permit. Makes about zero sense since all types of headlights get dirty, but that's what manufacturers have to deal with.

The headlight wipers on my first car (Volvo 850) never got any use because they were broken and the car died before I got a chance to fix them :( Now I have to live my destroyed dreams vicariously through RUclips videos

When on a wet dirt road, or when it's raining and your just on a bad road tailing cars, or when the conditions on the road are just not favourable is when this is absolutely necessary. Just as usefull as regular wipers and fluid on the windscreen at night. When carrying significant speed in said conditions the system engaged makes quite the difference.
I love how people think only exotic cars have headlight washers. In 1969 chevrolet cars had them as an option and in 1970 and 1971 some dodge cars had headlight washers.

My first car (old Mercedes C Class) had some wipers as well. That car looked so dope and I still regret it to this day that I had sold it for like 1.300€
My old Peugeot 405 Mi16 had a setup where the water pressure in the pipe pushed the part with the washer jets up inline with the headlight then it squirted. When pressure was released it sank back down into the bumper. Was quite neat. Then had an E53 X5 with Xenons. When the headlight washers came on it looked like the lights were being dimmed
Fun fact: I once bought a second hand car that had these, after about 2 years we got the car dirty with mud and after using these realized only one headlight was clean. We tested them and realized one side did not have anything inside... only a cover glued on so it looked like normal closed position. We went back to the second hand car dealer and he said it was stolen after we bought the car. So thoughtful of the thieves to glue back the cover with double sided tape so we didn't suspect anything...!! Hmmm....
People who says "useless" - You never drove on dirty road in the night at winter time. Somewhere in the North country. One day and headlights are just matte dark grey.

What was useful was those wipers Mercedes used to have on their headlights. W140, W124 and a few others.
