    On The Good Ship Lollipop
It's a sweet trip to a candy shop
    Where bon-bons play
On the sunny beach of Peppermint Bay
Had a lot of fun watching the episode this week, lots of action both in space and on the fakest jungle set they could build. I liked the discussion on how Geordi had a ham-fisted conflict with the Engineer guy and it was just there for drama. I think Will's idea that the nervous bridge crew could have been played up more and I like that it made Troi's position look useful. Both plots this week were pretty compelling and managed to fit in some character building for the good Doctor and her Grandmother (takes note). No one gives a damn about the Drake after they buy the bots, whatever I guess for the crew of the Drake, thanks for joining Star Fleet idiots. 56:00 Loved Caleb talking about the Phasers and how funny it looks and I totally didn't notice anything until he mentioned it. Your both right I bet its about how they did the effect/production stuff. For Sweet Stuff Award I loved the shot of the full phaser array's firing and the photon torpedo spread, it was so awesome even if it hit nothing. Thanks for the review as always guys.

I was happy for you when they mentioned the USS Drake! But…the 24th century Drake’s top warp is 3?! The Drake from your RPG in the 22nd century is faster! 😂
Should there be a running tally through the series of times Riker passes up a command, or we at least hear about him doing so? I believe this is the first in the series, so - Riker command pass up #1 - could have captained Drake.
I guess in the 24th century they still haven’t found a way around ads? The weapons were pretty neat and “Captain Rice” was indeed freaky. I was a little disappointed that the big weapon attacking the Enterprise was basically just a big brother version of the smalls guys. Would have been cool to see some sort of other design.
Oh, did you know that the Enterprise can separate its saucer section? Have they mentioned that any this season? Guess they needed to fill some run time.
I know why they have Geordi take command - he’s a series regular actor and it’s a moment to highlight him. But in-universe…a Lt. JG in the chair? Geordi is super capable, but how does the command structure work here? There isn’t another Lt. Commander available on the entire ship? Why not Troi? She is a commissioned officer who must have some length of experience to be at her current rank of Lt Commander. I like that Lt Logan raised this issue, but did NOT like Lt Logan himself and am totally with you guys there. I also hate how they use Troi here, overall. The pep talk with Geordi was nice, but all of her staring and staring…so dumb.
Hilarious when Yar gets thrown by Data! Favorite moment of this episode and maybe the season! 🤣 All in all…pretty good, especially for season 1. Great review, thanks for the laughs and interesting conversation!

@@frommyoffice There are some great things to chat about here. Totally blanked on the fact that Riker has been offered another Command option. We look forward to going through this during “Symbiosis”. Thank you for the support!

Worf's killing of the Klingon is also a cultural relativist position inherently contradictory within Starfleet ideology. He gave him a Klingon death in respect of Klingon culture, even if Starfleet wants to promote itself as culturally superior to anyone else. Starfleet wants to respect people by word but not by deed.
I don't think he was actually intending to fire on the warp core. It kinda felt like a "death by redshirt" thing, where he just wanted to go out in a fight on the flagship of their former war foes.
I see you shiver with.... Antici~~pa~~tion~~~.
I never actually thought about it, but there's a chance Picard and Doc Crusher aren't engaged by the murderbots is that they're in the show-room. It might be a safe zone, but weird nobody else hid there.
The holographic salesperson is one of two "bit roles" that stands out for me in TNG. He's one of those vaguely familiar actors that you've probably seen in a thousand tiny roles in syndicated TV, but he just nailed this one so great.
A plausible case for not destroying the computers is that they might not the source of power for the potentially autonomous killer sentries. Destroying the computers might remove their only connection to the system.
I always assumed people are getting attacked at random now because the inhabitants of the planet left the demonstration mode engaged and were wiped out, with nobody in the "safe zone" vending room.
Totally agree with Caleb. Although the special effects are improved from TOS (no longer just single frames held with sound) it's now just really rudimentary effects added to video. The actors aren't really used to it, and it shoooooows. Some extras/guest actors over-tap the consoles, since they're just glass panels. They're still getting used to bumping around when struck.
Do you think Picard paid for his agreed upon sale of arms? Does he personally own this weapon now? Does Starfleet just have one of this model in some storage? Did he just sweep it under the rug and not mention it in his report to Starfleet?
So uh, we also really quickly forgot about the dead people and Riker doesn't really grieve his dead friend lol.

@@TheystromReview That’s a good question about what happened with the sale. Caleb and I will tackle this and more in our “Symbiosis” Review.

Nothing defines the Go-Go '80's quite like the endless sales pitch. So, Welcome to The Arsenal of Freedom and welcome to the Planet Minos' automatic infomercial hologram channel. Can we interest you in an Autonomous A.I. Vitamix blender? Make Starship cleaning a breeze with Anti-matter Strength OxiClean II. How about Ronco's planet-wide automatic Weapons Platform . . . "just Set It - and Forget It". I really enjoyed this TNG nod to the 1984 FCC suspension of broadcast advertisement regulations, transforming television into an open-air informercial carnival. "Billy Mays here . . . get a free tub of Orange Glo when you purchase an Orbital Missile Platform on our Easy Installment Plan".

@@thedaystromholodeck The sales pitch scenes were not over done, sharing air time with the separated Enterprise battle and the Picard/Crusher interaction after the fall. I found the entire episode to be a good mix of story elements that kept me engaged.

@ Yeah, it definitely is an entertaining episode for Season One. Very memorable too. I always remember this one when I see the title of it anywhere.
