Fantastic video. I was stationed in Panama from 1985 to 1989 at Fort Davis and then Fort Clayton. I lived in Panama City for about 2 years. I loved this city, and I traveled every inch of it while I was there. I hope to one day go back to visit it. Thanks for the video, I loved it. I really felt like I was back there visiting just by watching the video. Thanks again!!!!
After seeing it it is really a special city and the architecture is a "tour de force" nobody does buildings so elegant, handsome and cosmopolitan. Surely New York is passe with just a dozen of Panama's sleek towers.
Buen video , gracias por el esfuerzo!!! hace 2 meses fui a Panama y me encanto el pais, su gente, los taxistas buena onda!! saludos desde Costa Rica!!!
@@mascranegra6903 Sometimes fate takes you elsewhere. ANd then you're stuck outside of it because you're caught in a country where the covid was allowed to get out of control. I know someone to whom this happened. Luckily Panama re-opened its doors to folks from the U.S.A. again on 12-October, but, at the rate at which the U.S. is going again (looks like yet a 3rd spike now, each one bigger than the previous) it may be possible Panama may need to temporarily close its doors again to people coming from the U.S. Luckily it looks like there may be some vaccines so that things may be back to closer to normal by November of 2021, provided the immunity from the vaccines lasts for more than 4 months . We won;t know until we cross that bridge. And even if Biden were to do all of the things properly that Trump did not, it won;t fix itself from one day to the next. Because the way that covid was allowed to progress it will be like trying to stop a freight train that is going full speed. Right now Americans are the 3rd largest immigrant group in Panama. The rate greatly accelerated during the current administration due to the insecurities of racially targeted police violence and brutality. But notice that one hardly hears of there being any Panamanians in the U.S. You see people from practically every country but hardly anybody from Panama trying to cross the southern border. Circumstances differ from person to person but there are often general proclivities that cause such great migrations.
!Ahhhhh, mi querido pais! !Como lo extrano tanto! Todas esos locales y calles las conozco muy bien.... he recorrido todas ellas. !Cuanto anhelo estar alli! Gracias por compartir tu filmacion. Ahhhhh, my dear country! How I miss it so much! I know all of those streets & locales very well.... I have walked them all. How I long to be there! Thanks for sharing your video!
Felicitaciones.
I love Panama and plan to retire there. The people of Panama that I came into contact with where very friendly and hard working. But everyone is on the hussle there...selling parking spaces, street goods, ice cones, and fake jewelery trying to make a dollar, and of course there's prostitution. I for one can't blame them, people have to survive some how. I hated seeing all the poverty in barrio's where poor Panamanians lived. The building structures weren't safe or clean for inhabitante, and few had proper lighting. The cab driver's are on the hussle as well...each charging you different rates for travel to the same location. I think if they know you're a yankee/gringo, you will pay more. With all that money coming into Panama just from the Panama Canal, should be enough for the government and new President to tear down and rebuild better living inhabitants for the people of Panama. Parts of Panama City is similar to Cuba. But with restoration and modernization those area's could be so beautiful. The wealthy Panamanian's live really well, in closed gated communitys and high rise condo's. So do the middle class, for lack of better a classification, who can afford to live in the new Panama Pacifico community and the old Howard Air Base community. But the poor live horribly, in the face of mind boggling progress and bombing construction every where. The Coronado beach community is beautiful, and in the rural country sides, outside Panama City the people seem to living better than the people inside the inner city. But the fact is, the wages are very low, preventing many Panamanian's standard of living from improving. But, I love it there, and can't wait to depart America for retirement. Whether, I reside in the mountains, the beach or city. I know I will be happier than in the U.S. RETVET.

are those tall buildings apartments or what are they mostly? it's nice... is panama city only the island with buildings? i know that it says that they are about 800,000 people living there... but how many people live in the whole country?
I agree with the comments below made about El Presidente Martinelli. He loved his country and looked to make Panama viable and a strong economic player in the Pacific and Central American region. The Panamanian people may dislike him for their own personal reason's, but he was instrumental in that country's growth through outside investment. I just wish he would have invested in his people and their run-down communities. If you improve the standard of living and education in your country, the people will love you and the country will grow from the inside out. Tourism will increase and so will worker productivity. In a country Panama's size, education should be free. There should be trade-schools to teach building construction, road maintenance, heavy machinery operation, and transportaion. These are just a few building blocks that make a country great, and the people feel like there's a future for them and their children. RETVET.
Martinelli was a mixed bag. It has since been revealed that though he did have some good intentions and did institute some good policies he was also corrupt and stole from Panama's coffers as well as attempted to leverage U.S.-based Intel to use it against his political opponents and he also accepted bribes, including from the U.S. and Italy and liked to spy on people trying to set up something as draconian as a secret Patriot Act but was caught with his hands in the cookie jar. He also compromised some of Panama's banking sovereignty to U.S.-based interests. His score will be seen as mixed in history books. You can give hi credit for the Metro though.
Panama can thank their president Ricardo Martinelli for how Panama has progressed over the last 6 years or so. In spite of the current charges against him he still was instrumental in the transformation of Panama into the modern society it is today. A few months ago I watched a one hour interview that one of the US television networks had with him. I thought that he was a most articulate and intelligent man and only wished that we here in the Untied states had him running our country.

The police is now better equipped, and is more proactive in preventing crimes before they happen (reason why after 11pm there are usually police rounds all around the city, specially nearby high density and touristic areas) as you may have seen in this video. Also to add about it, some of the areas visited in this video are poverty and extreme poverty areas, but most of the city (at least 80% of it) it looks a lot better, cleaner, and safer. I do believe Panama has improved its safety a lot within the last 5 years. Regarding the police check points along the highway, dont get confused the highway he means is not like a city highway, no.
