In this video I take an in depth look at the latest offering from the folks over at Toontrack, the Stockholm SDX. This is an incredibly versatile set of incredible drum sounds that I feel is a great addition to SD3 and gives an end user a vast array of drum sounds for a variety of different musical styles. If you like what you hear, you can head on over to the Toontrack website to have a closer look at the link below:

Thanks Jason, very nice sounding kits!
I just need the RINGO kit, with him Playing it!!!! HE WAS GREAT!!!!
My favourites are the Pop, Heavy and Punchy... And found it I really like the sound of maple:
Pop is a 2010's Gretsch Brooklyn 6-ply maple/poplar wih Keith Carlock (Toto, Steely Dan, John Mayer) sig snare and Paiste singature cymbals
Heavy is a 2000s Tama Starclassic maple with Kenny Aronoff Trackmaster sig snare and Paiste signatube symbals with Dark Master hi-hat
Punchy is a 20202s Sonor Proline 9-ply maple with Benny Greb sig snare and +- Meinl Byzance Jazz cymbals with a Byzance Big Apple Dark 15" hi-hat.
Honestly, the pieces that are there are good, but there's just not enough there for $180. I'm thinking even if they had just 1 or 2 extra cymbal slots, like one in the middle for smaller cymbals and one on the side for trashy crashes and chinas the value proposition becomes much better, especially compared to the other SDX libraries toontrack has developed, and arguably even the EZ Drummer 3 stock library and some of the newer EZX libraries, let alone the SD3 stock library. That's without considering some of the competition, like the smaller Getgood drum libraries that go on sale for $40, or the 50% off sale that happens on AD2 kits as well.
So I think Im passing on this one. It sucks because I like the actual drum sets they selected (which would be nearly identical to what I would want to record for a drum library), and I am super happy this library included some dedicated mics for the crashes and ride, but I use China cymbals and Splashes too often, not to mention I feel like this is missing 1 extra set of cymbals, and maybe just something to add a little bit of extra gusto to this library. Maybe if I work with more Pop and Standardish Rock in the future I could say yes on a 40% off deal.
I guess it really depends on one's needs. I was delighted to finally see a more compact kit.
I was looking at your courses online. Do you have anything that covers intervals? I'm looking for some scale type exercises to help me drill my intervals.
the snares are a bit too high based on the demos. I like that its a smaller room though, sd3 library was unusable due to being recorded in a hangar, and area33 is a nice room but ruined by too much baked in high end boosts (seriously they should fire the engineer)
@jason
Hey how you come to your video titel?
I bet you know every sdx?
Stockholm is more the opposite quite...least vetsatile
Seriously versatile sdx are Hansa sdx. Fields of rock sdx...the new Stories sdx and death and darkness for me.
Fine folks at IK Multimedia, fine folks at Toontrack. Lots of fine folks around these days.
Do you have a problem with that?
@@JasonSadites No sir. I'm just goofing around.
@Milan Kotevski I personally know people from all the companies that I refer to as "fine folks". I don't use that term lightly, they are truly wonderful people that I enjoy working with.
well, they are fine folk cause they pay him to promote, not saying that a bad thing & hopefully he dont get offended by this comment lol
Who pays me?
For me they sound a bit too roomy much like one of the kits from the fields of rock pack
If only there was a way to make the cymbals sound real and alive , great job by SSD so far ,but you can tell right away it's a digitized midi lib kit - just by the sound of it's cymbals and hats, no matter which expansion year or preset it is.
Fast answer....no
Not by far^^
Calling it the ""Most versatile kit yet"" is pushing it a tad bit too much for me. Those kits won't make it onto a metal mix or even a jazz mix in any shape or form. Rooms of Hansa is more versatile than this and even the core library. This is a very pop/commercial oriented kit.
