My Minivan camper is a 1991 Toyota Previa Alltrac. It's a 20 year old mid engine all wheel drive long lasting beast with 200k miles.

In the early 70's when I was working Civil Service in So. Korea & lived in the economy (village outside of the base) in a hooch. A single room w/separate kitchen/bathing room & communal outhouse home in a courtyard of other Hoochs. The folding mattress you show is what was called a Yo. A freestanding vinyl covered wardrobe, a Yo, a small chest & small shelf unit. It was folded up during the day, the blanket & pillow put into the trunk & served as a chair. Obviously no bed frame was used. Although I worked/lived in many countries after that this experience is one of my favorite stand out memories. I was so sad when my tour was up & I was sent elsewhere. Loved loved loved the people.

Oh man, so glad I found this video. I have that same bed and it's way too tall, so I can't sit upright. I hate it! Never occurred to me to just trim the legs. 👌

I m so grateful to find another previa owner I have one too but mine is a 91 .and it's a no built but I'm loving your results bought mine during the pandemic 😁 got mine for 800 on Facebook marketplace place . I love it because it's just as weird as me ! 💗 Van life is sweet .. underneath the seat is the engine in 2020 I took out all the seats and put a futong I have also had a recliner in it just took it out in place of the futong .I have been back and forth recliner , futing then recliner now I'm back to futong !

Really think so? It’s mostly for fun and to practice producing and editing. I’m in the film biz and shoot for nat geo. But I want to move up and do more producing so this is basicly a self taught homework assignment

Previa is the best "Mini-van" ever built. Actually it's more truck than van, since it uses mostly bulletproof truck components. No doghouse means being able to twist key and change neighborhoods without ever getting out of the vehicle or crawling down from a roof-tent especially in the middle of the night... I put a small cot in mine as makeshift camper, so nice to pull of the road, stretch out and get some shuteye... I could go on and on and am just annoyed that they stopped selling them in the US after '97...
I really like the sink idea...
I didn’t want it to take up space. So I kept it to the width of the wheel well!

Just came home from camping. Double bed is just annoying in a Sienna. I like your twin bed set up and there is room to swing your legs out of bed and have floor space.
I don't like having a wood floor as I find stuff slides around too much.
I still like your sink set up.
It is handy to have some form of temporary shelving in the van so you can see your stuff and find things easily.
Less is more folks. Reduce, reduce, reduce.
If you have your head at back of van, the back window is like a wonderful sky light.
Downside is the back is more cramped and less head room. So bed should be quite low. My partner felt claustrophobic and I had to set up a tent for him.
Next trip it is either bed on floor or our big tent.
Your set up would be perfect for me if camping alone. Love your twin bed and nice thick foamies. If you don't sleep well, camping just isn't fun.
Try throw rugs with rubber backing over the wooden floors.✌️

Man that is a beautiful color. I want to get a Previa in manual transmission to convert. I bet I can get really solid fuel economy with the standard transmission and the thing would be bomb proof. Only have to worry about the clutch.

I rush when editing and make TONS of mistakes. and by the time im done editing the video. I am so burnt out I just kinda rush color grade as well.. mostly just mess around with the exposure and watch the waveform. try and keep highlights under 75 and blacks just above 0. maybe mess with white balance across each clip. but barely any grade. just hlg picture profile on this video I think

Also, that’s the reason I change my build to something less extravagant. Have you seen my first build? Cabinets an whatnot. I’d rather it be airy!! Like you said. I don’t want to block windows or have a big cabinet. Duffle bag and a couple plastic bins is all you need for clothes etc.
Does it come with that beautiful fur-lined heater? That's the most appealing part of the "easy camper build for beginners"!

Living with a dirty dog isn’t nearly as dirty as shitting in a bag. Hahahah I’m camping in a tent in backcountry Alaska eating snow. I don’t give a shit about a little dirt. That might be a personal problem son.
I’m not sure if you are being rude. But on the off chance I’ll let you know what my solution to that is! I have a sleeping bag which doesn’t really absorb dirty or smells that I lay on the bed whenever I’m not sleeping on it. And boop, take it off so we don’t get the Matress dirty.. I use wilderness wipes to clean Nancy if she needs it. Or I take her to a groomer to. Get a bath. I hope you get your van built up and start traveling! Good luck to you! Love the questions!

I am intentionally doing a van built that avoids Amazon. They are terrible to their workers. Like your sink set up. Yes, simple is best.
This was is an inspiring and helpful video. I have a 1997 Previa and I don’t want to turn it into a camper but I do want to use it for camping. I like the dual uses of camping and cargo van.
What did you do with the seats? I’ve heard other people sell them.

Nice work! I looked at this bed too but thought it was too tall... how easy was it to cut the frame - what did you use? And what were those plastic things you stuck into the cut legs? Also how did you secure the frame so that it didn’t move around when you were driving? Thanks.
Hey! All great questions! You can easily cut the frame if you have a dremmel (what I used) but you could totally use a cheap hacksaw! If you have the elbow strength. And I ts The rubber insert from the original legs. I just popped them out and reused them :) I secured the frame using a ratchet strap and the bolts used to bolt the original seats in

it was some shots I got of my old van 4 years ago before it was illegal to fly in nation parks. its the national sea shore between Navarre and pensacola beach! good eye!
@@sweetbabysean Your van is a pretty cool build. I dig the idea of keeping things useable. Also, I lived at the Hampton Inn up the road during the oil spill. That's why the shoreline looked so familiar.

I would have made it just a hair wider/deeper. And I would make some cubby’s for easy storesge of small items
