Hi Richard, I'm very glad to have helped with your search! And thank you for taking the time to comment. I'm working on more van videos now so stay tuned :)
We put a bed in it this week and are taking it to the Mushroom Valley festival this weekend 🙌 It's probably not the forever conversion but it is perfect for weekends away 😊 I'd definitely recommend getting Toyota's as they are so reliable and have loads of room.
I am looking for a Toyota Estima to do, as I sold my Long wheel base Hiace with a pop top. I'm a gran, and thought I was retiring, but the road calls! My old van was gorgeously over the top, and was called "The Tipsy Gypsy"
Hi Heather! Love the name of your previous van :) A Hiace was my dream van but was more expensive than this. This one is much more comfortable to drive though. All the best for your next conversion and adventures ahead :)
Looking at doing the same thing with the same tarago. You did a good job and have given me some idea's. The only part that l dont like is the thin foam mattress, not my idea of comfort, but if it works for you thats what counts. Thanks for the upload 🚐
Cheers from Portland Oregon I just bought a Ford freestar 2004 and I'm starting my conversion now thank you for sharing your ideas. Congratulations on your channel maybe a name for your van could be Alche short for alchemize. I researched into alchemizing monatomic gold. I have so many friends in Australia my best friend lives in Margaret River and I was going to move there before the travel ban. Now it's a wait and see. Keep sharing and caring there's still time to be kind 👍❤️😁
Hi Roxanne, i love your van! I have the same car and am about to start my conversion - doing it all myself. Unfortunately, i'm not savvy with tools and making things. Do you have a specific instruction on how you made the box? I would need measurements and instructions. I'd probably have to get a handyman to help me. thanks so much ps. also how did you hang the curtains around?
Hi Karen! Good luck for your build. I actually just used the measurement of the existing things as a guide, eg: the height of the back seat was around 300mm so made that the height so it would match up, and the size of the plywood top was I think 1200x600 which it came in from Bunnings. The main thing is making sure everything is supported by the vertical beams and sits securely so it holds the weight when sleeping on top. If you're not savvy on the tools, I'd definitely recommend getting someone to help as there was so much trial and error to get the design just right when working to make everything fit in such an awkward tight space. I hope it goes well and you are happy with the result!
wow thanks for the vid. just about to convert my 2003 Tarago for my son and this was really helpful... really need advice on curtains tho... I've got a few ideas but none seem ideal.... help!
i got the same Van 2002 gli tarago Blue 8 seater, hopefully convert it to a camper, got mine for 1500 dollars,, gettting some ideas, cheers from Victoria, Aus
Hi Roxanne, wow love your energy and creativity, I'm thinking of getting a tarago too. Would you please mind answering a question, with the back seats not removed, how much length is there for a bed? I'm 5ft 10 and would I fit? Do your front seats have to be moved forward to accomodate the bed? Many thanks :-)
Nice conversion! And nice explanations :) I miss my old Estima back in NZ. It was 2k and went for a whole year, with very few mechanical issues. I'm looking for a similar van here in Aus now, funny they call them something different here. Nice video, entertaining. Stoaked to get a van
Hi Roxanne, my partner and I absolutely love your build. We just picked up a 2005 Tarago. We were wondering if you're still looking to do the van tour video and if you wouldn't mind running through how you put together the curtains and the measurements of the storage bed box please. Have a Happy New Year.
Hi Roxanne , Brilliant ideas. I love your presentation & innovative skills. I’m looking out for a Estima Areas Hybrid. Will the hybrid models have any major installation issue to convert to a camper van ?. What are your recommendations please ? I need to do a trip between Melbourne & Broome. Alfie.
What did you use to put a curtain up u should make a video on how you did the little things in this project I bought a 2005 tarago and hav done the exact same thing but I’ve just ran rope through the handles on the ceiling and than tide them to the roof rack and peg up fabric work alright but would love to know how u managed with putting the cable up
Ohh that’s a good idea!! I bought the stretchy wire cord (made for caravan curtains) and screwed little hooks into the ends and then screwed the screw hooks that are a full circle (don’t know the name) into the plastic panelling on the walls to hook them on! I used rope before I bought the stretchy wire. I think it’s good having the stretch in it in case you accidentally pull on the curtain it won’t pull everything out
@@RoxanneTaylorMedia yeah cool I don’t use it a lot to camp so yeah didn’t think about it pulling if I used wire I bought the wire and everything and scewers to slide behind the plastic but the scewers didn’t fit and I don’t want to do to much permanent damage as I will sell it later on, I thought the scewers would work because a girl I saw did it with an estima and it worked but mine didn’t so I did rope which works so I’ll prob stick with that
Great van conversion Roxanne! What did you name your Tarago? I too have a Tarago (2001) already converted by previous owner with care and thought. I have a much thicker mattress though! Good for my poor old body! Heading off on longer trip next month from Adelaide to Qld. Question - what do you do for mozzie and midges? Loved your WA trip footage! Being originally from the West lovely to see some of my home town of Carnarvon! I named my Tarago "Rosie" - she is a dark red. Thanks for inspiring people to get out there and experience our beautiful country!
Ohh enjoy your road trip!!! Thanks for the lovely comment. Love the name Rosie! I keep changing it - she had multiple nicknames haha most common ones I say are Terry, Sunny and Goldie
I bought the little hooks and the special wire from Spotlight. The wire is threaded on the inside so you can screw the circle fittings into each end, then I screwed the hook fittings into the plastic panels (drilled a tiny hole first)
Where is your storage for your clothes? Is it under the bed bench? I like the design... But I wonder if it can be done using a design for a narrow 25' wide twin
I have my clothes in a duffle bag which I hang over the back of the front seat headrest. When I go to sleep, I flip the bag around from the back to the front side of the headrest to make more leg room.
Hey I just measured it. The top is 1200mm wide and 600mm deep which was the standard size of the plywood. Just make sure to factor in adding the beam widths and side ply width into your frame size so the lid sits flush inside the frame. And it's 300mm tall off the ground. The second false top of plywood is the same size, and it butts up against the back seat when extended making the whole bed length roughly 1600mm including the 600+600 wood and the seat.
Cool set up :) name suggestion. Goldie locks. Like the fairytale character. Even tho she's technically a criminal, breaking and entering, theft, willful destruction of property. Hope the bears had insurance..
Ooh yes, I ended up taking out the brackets that held in the seats I removed (that I put the white cardboard over in this vid) and installing a Titans 900mm drawer horizontally to hold my stuff and building a smaller box for the mattress directly next to it. I'll post a little video on my Instagram Stories this weekend to show the latest update as I won't have time to make a proper RUclips video for a while. Good luck with your build!! It's so much fun
It looks so spacious! Maybe it is the camera? I would like to see more of the back set up. Also, how do you go to the bathroom? A slower speed tour of whole van would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.
i know im randomly asking but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Noel Jesus I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hi I live in Adelaide and also have aToyota Tarago which I have converted. These vans are excellent for conversions. They are very reliable and spacious. They don’t look like it on the outside but they are very roomy. Do you travel around with your van?
What colour is that ? I am still waiting for my finance to be proved in ScarboroToyota . If approved it is maroon. But i am afraid I might have issue with paint fading .
@@RoxanneTaylorMedia A quick question . Is your car reflecting the sunshine because of the sunshade from kmart and causing some trouble for car behind you ? Thanks
Hey, it's not secured to the floor. I just placed it over the brackets that the seat attached too. I like it being removable so I can put seats back in if I need to, also easier for cleaning, yesterday I took everything out for a deep clean
I recently bought a Tarago but couldn't get it registered because the previous owner bodged things up & I couldn't get an engineer certificate. Is yours compliant? Just wondering if you had issues with your bed box not being secured to the floor? I'm going to have to pull mine apart and start from scratch 🙄
I actually ended up redesigning it a little more after this video as I bought a secure drawer tray (popular in utes and 4WDs) which I secured to the chassis and built the bed box around that. It was all registered and legal as I didn’t change any structure, just unscrewed the seat from the base on the track which is fine as it’s designed to be able to do that. Good luck for your new design! I loved making it and re-designing it so I hope you do too 🙏🏽
You're adorable yes for the tour please. I'll be taking my van on the road filming the sky and clouds and new locations it's extraordinary what's going on in the sky above us I know we're all on the treadmill life and don't have much time to look up. But it's all going on up there ☁️🐲☁️🐉☁️☁️🌈☁️👽☁️🛸☁️👻☁️😇👈☝️🙄😳🤔❤️🎵💃🎤🎸🕺👍😁
Omg, i think i just experienced love at first sight, your so beautiful ❤💋 hope your doing well. Wish i was in australia aswell, unfortunately im in the Uk 🇬🇧 😔 would of loved to meet you.
Can ppl please stop saying they built a campervan "all by themselves" when in reality they decorated a vehicle. Removing a seat, putting in some store bought furniture and hanging led lights is not building a camper! I am happy that you are happy but building a camper requires lots of actual skills. Carpentry and cabinetry. A knowledge of electronics 12v and mains. Gas, water and upholstery.
She got the sillies 🤣🤣🤣 great job on the van👍
Roxanne, this is literally the video I was searching for....🤪. Awesome build! I deffo wanna see the full tour...

Awesome. I also broke both my arms recently and and planning to convert an estima, maybe its a thing?! Thank you for the video. Love from UK
