Good Habits for a Cleaner Trichy

Transforming individual action into community wins, the Mitigation Action Facility supported Circular Waste Solutions project in collaboration with the Trichy City Corporation, has been chipping away in its second year to achieve sustained community mobilization, aimed towards improved source segregation and solid waste management. Engaged interactions with schools, marketplaces, local colonies, and waste management workers have created opportunities to transform communities one good habit at a time. From replacing plastic bags in the market with upcycled cloth bags to introducing domestic composters across local households and imparting capacity-development training to citizens, the project has helped Trichy to successfully embrace several sustainable waste management solutions for improved social development.
The project is implemented in Trichy along with Bengaluru, Goa, Patna, and Varanasi by GIZ with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the European Union - the donors of the Mitigation Action Facility.
