Idk if this is a more recent change as I just got the game a week ago, but it is not accurate that you can play any locked character you want in single player. I do believe you are able to in local multiplayer, and there are rotating free unlocked guest characters on the standardized online multiplayer mode, but normal single player gameplay still locks characters you don't have and you can't use them in races, and some races require certain characters from certain franchises.
I'm really enjoying it. Was tempted to get it on Switch, but got it on PS5 instead.

As someone who plays on both PS5 and Switch I can already answer no. It runs good and it's portable, but it runs a lot better on PS5 and is a more enjoyable experience.

It looks okay on Switch. I'm just glad it looks better than Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 because that port was atrocious. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 looks and plays way better on PS4.

The best way to play it is on PC. I run at a locked 165 fps with everything up on a 49” widescreen. It’s absolutely jaw dropping.

Most if not all indy games, beat em ups like Streets of Rage 4 and Turtles shredders revenge etc. All mega man games, platformers, most metroidvania games and the list goes on.
If you are talking about graphics, resolution and framerate as the basis of your argument then well that's your thing but unfortunately PS4/5 and XboxOne/X/SX try too hard to keep everything running at its best refresh rates and visuals while losing optimization to control and input latency.
I have all the systems and play my switch versions alot more.
Hollow knight on the switch is the best version......Native 720p, full 60fps....portable.....over 7 hours of battery life......I prefer buying indie games on sale $1.99 - $4.99 on the switch than on PC, especially with the OLED display. But yes, you are right, things are generally better on the switch.
People with hacked switches overclock their switch which allows them to play games like the witcher, zelda, doom eternal at 60fps with gyro, a really enjoyable experience.
@@kninezbanks spoken like a child whos never owned an actual pc. all it can effectively run is crappy old video games! everything else they neuter graphically. "portable"? adults dont give a shit about portable. when we leave the house we have to do things like drive or work maybe mow the lawn, not play crappy old indie games. in other words things we have to pay attention to.

I bought it on ps5 first but wanted to play it on the go. BIG MISTAKE! After playing it on ps5, the switch version is what can only be describes as broken and unplayable!
