    Can advise what is better to buy day old chicks of hatcher them?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  2 года назад +1

      If you have all the hatching equipments and resources available (good breeder stock, incubator and constant electricity), it's better to hatch yourself.
      But if not, it's better to buy from a reputable hatchery.

      Wow that's great, but it depends.
      If you know the nitty gritty involved in operating the incubator, it temperature regulation etc, you can go on. If not, kindly consult an expert who have experience operating them.

    I like the Charcoal alternative heat supply to Infrared Globes because we have Electric supply Challenge in Rsa.
    The question I have is about charcoal is, How do you manage the Smoke/Gases released by Chaecoal. Will it not suffocate Chick's?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  Год назад +1

      Over here, we have charcoals already prepared, what's left is the light them.
      A few of them release smoke and most don't. So before we buy them for chick brooding, we test them or by experience, we know by just mere seeing the charcoal

    Can I use exactly that type of poultry house to rear layers?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you can, for both deep litter and battery cage, but for battery cage, you'd have to discuss the cage contractor, to make the stand a bit higher

    How do one use isochlor for water treatment?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  Год назад +2

      For drinking, 1 tab is to 500 litres.
      Or follow the instruction from the manufacturer.

      @@farmsdiary can one store water treated with isochlor for up to six months?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  Год назад +2

      6 months is a very long time, but I really don't know how long it should be stored, though I treat it like every other medications
      I don't allow it to stay more than 24 hours, so I only treat the quantity that is within the consumption rate of my birds, at that point in time.

    Pls give us the cost estimate on the house construction

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  2 года назад +2

      The link below, is the cost run down of the broiler house construction from day 1 to the final day (took us 6 months... Lol)
      drive.google.com/file/d/1VPPjGqLgM9PSGg7I2aCmZ4qJ9ZgwcImk/view?usp=drivesdk
      Note: Due to Nigeria's constant inflation, the present costs, including labour, may vary from what we spent, so do your side, by making current price enquiries in your location.
      And also, the costs for solar accessories, nipple drinker system and the constructed feeders are not included, because they were materials we already had (used to raise our layers in deep litter, before they were transferred to battery cage, way back in 2021), which are no longer in use, so we only transferred them to the broiler section, bought few replacement materials (for the nipple system) and paid for their installations.

  • @arthurmoses4276
    @arthurmoses4276 2 года назад +1

    And how much will it cost me to construct such pen house?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  2 года назад +1

      Price is relative, depending on location you are constructing the poultry and that's why I didn't mention how much it cost us.
      For instance, in Nigeria where this was constructed, we've been hit by super inflation, to the extent that material bought today, changes prices tomorrow.
      Plus some of the components (like the nipple drinkers, feeders and solar system) exhibited in the video were transferred from our layer section (where we no longer use in their section and were bought in 2020).
      So what I'd suggest you do is to check the current prices of materials in your location.
