Hi I'm Helen, I'm the wife of Mick who passed, and it's my brother Greg now riding Micks bike. Mick and I rode together since the 80s. He was in the Navy for 18 years, and the CFA here, always served the community. We travelled heaps, our last trip was Sturgis it was a blast we did it in 2019 and 2 months later on the Moto GP weekend he died. I could not get rid of that bike, it's all he ever wanted. I can't see anyone else riding it, although I did entertain the idea of selling because I just couldn't look after it. Greg still comes around and grabs me for a ride. That bike stays in the family for as long as it's around. Thanks for showing it on here, it touched me.
Hey Helen, as I said in the show, Having spoken to Greg at length please accept our combined sorrow at your loss. Mick sounded like a ripper guy and he was clearly taken from you too soon. We are so glad that the bike remains a tangible reminder of his life, service and dedication.
Hi Wayne here just using my wifes you tube site ,I have two bikes i wont part with my 81 shovel and my 88 Springer Softail. My Shovel because my wfe bought as a gift to me when we first started going out together and we both did some good miles on that bike before she started riding herself . The Springer and her 1200 Sporty we bought in Florida U.S.A in 2017 and we spent the next 3 months riding them around the U.S and Canada .I,ve since ridin that bike to Darwin and and to Cairns and lots of other places ,done too many miles on that ole tractor to part with it .The new bikes are good dont get me wrong but i dont need a new bike my ole girls will do me fine till they put me in a hole the ground .
Great Vid Guys. The Custom Bikes, oh wow!! Love Harley's myself, at this stage the company has a Harley Sportster 883, 2nd stage kit done. Would love to have a bigger bike, so the wife could come for more ride. Sportster is great though for model / photo shoots as we dress model up or down & it works. Sorry I wasn't live yesterday on the chat. Loved the clip & so happy to support Bikers 4 Bikers Down - AU, such a great cause!!
Hey Mark, you are in the States yes? Would be interested to see, is there a good online second hand bike sales site where we could monitor prices over there? Whitey
Great show tonight guys, being in the Army since I was 18 (2001) I was fortunate enough to buy my first Harley at the age of 27 it was a new 2010 Fat Boy Low. I loved it but I needed sell it after 4 years once I started a family. Fast forward 5 years (2019) my marriage ended and so the real battle began. I am glad to say now I am living my best life with my now wife and family. Now aged 41, 0:03 I discharged out of the Army on the 2/2/22 and treated my self to a new 2022 street glide special this bike resembles to me all I have been through in life to where I am now, it isn’t leaving me ever. I have a pretty cool derby cover too which resembles my service. Keep up the good work guys 👍👍
21 years in the Army. Holy shit, now that’s a great career. Thank you. I’m tipping no matter how many battles you were in the divorce would have been right up there with the most brutal. They rarely start with, “Hey let’s stay friends but…..”. 😁 What a ripper retirement present ( please tell me it’s not Black? 😆) would love to see a picture of your Derby cover posted on the FaceSook Group page. Thanks for your support. Whitey and Paul
Evening Flogs, I’ve been very fortunate I bought my first HD 13 dyna Street bob at the age of 24 owned it for a few yrs and poured $$$$$ into it to make it into a show bike, I’m now 37 on a 22 Apex Road Glide and love it. My first bike 17 was a Cb250 and moved to the vstar. Harley has been a brand I’ve always wanted in my garage and I pinch myself daily knowing what I have now. As mentioned not many blokes my age on Harley’s let alone tourers.
100% Congratulations, you are definitely one of few with the financial acumen and drive to make that dream a reality so young. You have our respect there. Don’t worry, every time I look at mine I think the same thing. We are truely blessed to be fortunate enough to own such bikes. Ride safe. Thanks for watching.
G'day boys and fellow vlogers sorry I am late but I have been on the road from Perth to Sydney great intro as usual Speedy recovery whitey get well soon.
My special bike is my Sportster. Bought new in 2007 as an 883. Didn’t really give a shit about Harleys at the time, but for various reasons made sense for me as my second bike. I’ve done heaps to it over the years, and it still looks great and goes like a rocket. I’ve since bought a Road King which is my new project and I love it, but the Sporty is the bike I will keep forever. So sweet.
Only that it is apart of me, like the cliché "you make it your own". And it was something that I could focus on when life was on a downer (eg. marriage separation). Losing that bike would be like losing a limb. Also, I'm recent times, I'm getting more and more compliments on it. It's probably not the style of Sportster you see often these days. @@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs
And they were always easy to move on when you did want to step up to the Harley. I still say the best bike is the one you’re riding at any particular time. As long as we are riding we are above ground.
There are a lot of younger guys in The States who bought Evo Sportsters and built choppers out of them. Some are wild, while most are fairly mild/rideable chops. Just cue up the "Born Free" events over the past five years or so, and you'll get some idea as to what young dudes here in The States are into. Choppers; especially those powered by Shovelheads; are fairly popular in Japan. Yamaha was on the right track when they introduced The Bolt. That bike just needs a bit more power on top end and a six-speed transmission. My younger brother rides an Evo Sporty and a Bolt. He likes them both. Ride safe in Oz. Best -- Walt in The States.
Hey Walt Mate there are a lot more Elvis available over there than here. We say the are as rare as Rocking horse Shit. So obviously they go at a premo price. I’m not familiar with the Bolt, I shall look it up. Thanks for watching mate, having just returned for the second time I love the States. Hope you stick with us, we love feedback from over there as normally it gives us a glimpse into our future. Whitey
@@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs Hey! Thanks for the prompt reply! You guys are doing some good in Oz! Keep preaching the gospel of Harley-D to the youngsters. Hopefully, they'll get "religion." All the best to you two blokes! -- W -- Oh yeah, I've got mates in Caboolture, but I lost contact with them since Covid broke. Gotta get in touch with them again.
My plan in a couple years is to get a old Dyna hopefully untouched and work on it do it up with my sons and when they are old enough can ride together on our bikes but they aren’t cheap here! And our market is a lot smaller to find those gems! I watch other RUclipsrs in the States doing the same but they can pick them up so cheap there. Fingers crossed when the time comes I find a what I want. Good chat Flogs🤘
That’s a solid plan Briz, but as you know the older they get not necessarily do they get any cheaper. The price in the States can be deceptive, as once you take into account the low value of the Aussie dollar and transport they end up not being that much cheaper these days. In the past with dollar parity it would have been so but those days are long gone sadly.
Well I only bought a 2019 107 limited I've done 10,k on it has yet to prove it is half the bike my Vt750 was that I gave to my son-in-law, wich I had done 110,k ks on and the only thing apart from tyres was a battery it still had the original spark plugs, This in my opinion is why young people prefer the 3 top Japanese brands ,over harley apart from the price
Sounds like you bought the wrong bike for you. Would be interested to see why your LTD is falling down? Love the interest and debate this subject has raised.
Better still the TAC insurance part rego should be linked the the driver/rider, not the vehicles. You can only drive one at a time, so why pay two fees? Thanks for watching.
Yes, the old adage that HD is an unreliable brand is very outdated. Definitely several of the most reliable bikes I have ever owned. Thanks for watching.
The bike i can never part with is my 1996 Heritage Softail Special that i purchased brand new. The bike i should have kept was a 1986 KX 500 B1 2 Stroke, the power of that think was incredible, like being strapped to a bullet.
I’m a new rider at the young age of 50😂 Always wanted a Harley but I didn’t like the Street 500 to learn on so I opted for the Royal Enfield 350… Would’ve loved if they made a Harley for beginners that LOOKED like a Harley. Cheers guys🍺
I think that sums up our argument rather nicely. Everyone is pretty much in the same boat. We just waited until life did what life does and gets us to the point where we have enough disposable income to make the move. Thanks for watching.
I am 40 and I have always wanted a harley but never had the money to get on till now. I started with a GPX 250 got it new for 5k and sold it for 4500 and then got zr600 had that for years . Then got my street glide after saving for years
Only three bikes to get to a Harley? In my house that would be considered a huge success. I think I was over 20 before Ai could finally afford one. But boy aren’t they worth the wait? 😂 Thanks for watching.
Nah I’m only 38 had my stage 3 twin cam for 4 yrs. I wish more people my age rode. Harley need to do low rate finance and a buy back/ cheap second hand learner bikes as the old saying goes “the pony makes the rider, the rider makes the horse”
Great show. Couple of comments. HDs and the young'ns. Kids are too tight to save up for a HD these days... most of them can't even afford bloody socks. It's a hard life - Between buying coffees, escalating manscaping expenses and fashion 'must haves' .. there's no room for an expensive bike like a HD.. 'cue violin' ... When I started, very few blokes could afford a new HD ... even if they could, there weren't that many around. We mostly all migrated in the late 70's from the Honda/Kwacka phase to whatever HD we could get .. 'bitsas' cobbled together from old imported secondhand parts. You had to go without to afford one... Something the 'must have now/ self entitled' generations cant abide. So .. the reality is they get around in their man buns, riding clapped out ' bespoked' CB 250's thinking they're the beezkneez.. When 'younger', I would no more think of getting on a Heritage - let alone a 'Hamburger withe the Lot' - embarrassing - Had to be a stripped down HD. But now its the complete opposite ... After over 50 years of continuous riding, I find myself happily merging with the older grumpier brigade .. Comfort over coolness all day, everyday... AND .. Continually prefacing everything with "in my day..." The road condition campaign .. I notice its making national news - Unfortunately, a shit fight over the dollars between Feds, State & Councils. Everyone ducking for cover.,,,"not our fault" Finally .. 'Thank you for your service' - just because Scotty from Marketing started to use it when he was in the Lodge, doesn't mean it should be used by normal honest Australians. It grates like hell (like most Americanisms).. A lot of Military bods think its cringe-worthy as well.. We haven't had conscription since Gough came in (thanks f*ck) - So anyone in the Military is there because they wanted to be - for the dollars, learn a trade, or to escape jail.. Remember the old ads - tanks blasting through the bush, people jumping out of helicopters, etc... Like a boys own adventure. Same goes for throwing the saccharine "Thankyou" sentiment at Cops, Scumbag Pollies and any other paid 'public servant'. They are all reimbursed handsomely for their 'services'. They're not doing it for love. I personally would reserve the 'Thankyou ' sentiment to actual volunteers - invariably an unassuming average Joe/ Josephine Bloggs... bods that are in CFS, St Johns, Blood Bank donors, Vinnies - There is no money involved... they're there just for the community. OK ... Boring the sh*t out of myself 'As always great show.' I'm now easing myself off the soap box.😀😉👍
Hey Sid, let’s get into it. 😂 First I think your assessment of todays youth, although depressing is close to the mark. But we live in different times and these young fellas simply have different priorities, I feel sorry for them because growing up with YZ125s, RM80s, CB Hondas and all those classics was bloody fantastic. The road campaign, yes it is getting some MSM focus of late so let’s hope that gets govt to pull their finger out. Finally, well we will agree to disagree. I have all my life been taught to respect those in all the services. it is not a new thing for me, and I see nothing wrong with thanking them for their service. ( note many services I would agree are a profession like the cops or fire brigade and most know what they are getting into so shouldn’t expect hero worship) BUT I hold the Armed Services at a greater level. I don’t care what they are paid, if you literally put your life on the line when others would harm you in battle, nope that’s next level and they and their families have my respect and always will have. Anyway always good to have the conversation. Ride safe, thanks again for your support.
My young bloke is 21. Harley is the dream but not for 20 years. He recons the new Harley’s don’t compete with the Vulcan 650s and then Harley’s are so pricey he can get a top cruiser from Suzuki, kwaka, Yamaha etc for less than half the price of a second hand Harley. As much as he will end up there he’ll have a something else for the next 20 plus years. It’s is only price that keeps the young ones away.
Mate I think you just got it in one. What a great analogy. RR never ever compromised. Price has never been a consideration. They produce the best luxury car and if you can’t afford it others will. HD could learn a lot from RR. Thanks for watching.
3 weeks ago my local HD dealer got in a new silver CVO Roadglide & Streetglide. As of today, they are both unsold. The only thing I want from HD is a 121VVT Street Bob.
It's simple harley davidson are and have been for a long time selling a lifestyle and image dream and it's worked well unfortunately young people today are not interested
Harley's must be for old men 🤔hell im nearly 65 and i have two of them 😁and when i go to any shows here in the States i honestly would say there aren't many men or women for that matter that are much under 50 . Except for the dolly birds pouring beer or modeling that most old farts couldn't handle anyway 😉🤣😂EXCEPT for me of course 😛 By the way Good Day Skips 👍🏴🇺🇲😎Oh by the way just actually finished watching your blog and as far as i know HD is not gonna sell those little bikes in America. The Street series was crap and who knows with these new ones . Thing is you can bet anything ( including the toilet roll holders with HD stamped on them) aren't going to be cheap . And that could be a problem in poorer countries. You'd have to be the Bogan to afford one The day Harley goes all electric is when they truly DIE . They will have lost everything they ever stood for . And i cant imagine 1% er bike clubs for example riding around on bloody Dead wires 😵💫😁🫡
G’day William, can’t disagree with you cobber, everything you said is spot on. As we said, I think they have to get youth to aspire to buy a Harley when then have enough disposable income ie: Once they are older and established. Thanks for watching Whitey & Paul
HD are losing touch with the brand which made it stand out above the rest, not only ares they focusing on touring models they need to bring back the chrome and shorter bikes for shorter riders....
I definitely think the corporation is trying to future proof itself, looking at the next generation. Problem is these whinny little bastards will grow up to be grumpy old men wanting a Fatboy or a Roadglide 😂 I agreed, they need to stick with what they are good at.
Hey Carl, get with the times mate. The old adage of Harleys being unreliable is just that, a very old myth. Tell the truth, that’s why you’re here, you secretly long for one. It’s ok we are a safe space for you to admit it .lol
Unless the kids are into bikes then Harley is a big jump..I kicked off my Harley at 35 yrs old. I'm 64 next month. The younger blokes I know aren't riding much anymore..they are into other avenues..cars marriage..etc. The other thing, Until the evo's came out you couldn't give me a harley..Shovels were crap, now Shovels and before are collectors items. Have a look at the new bikes no styling at all. a chopper style would nail the market..
Mark a lot of what you say is true, but Paul’s visit to Melb Bike Night showed that motorcycling is alive and well with youth, they are just choosing to or financially have to ride other brands. In the past anything older than an Evo had a very bad rep for reliability, but as you say, no matter the reliability they are much sort after now. Times change. Love the discussion this subject has raised.

I personally would reserve the 'Thankyou ' sentiment to actual volunteers - invariably an unassuming average Joe/ Josephine Bloggs... bods that are in CFS, St Johns, Blood Bank donors, Vinnies
- There is no money involved... they're there just for the community.
OK ... Boring the sh*t out of myself
'As always great show.'
I'm now easing myself off the soap box.😀😉👍
Hey Sid, let’s get into it. 😂
First I think your assessment of todays youth, although depressing is close to the mark.
@@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs Fair enough - Keep doing what you do.
Always enjoy a good chinwag - even if it's on the 'puter 👍
My young bloke is 21. Harley is the dream but not for 20 years. He recons the new Harley’s don’t compete with the Vulcan 650s and then Harley’s are so pricey he can get a top cruiser from Suzuki, kwaka, Yamaha etc for less than half the price of a second hand Harley. As much as he will end up there he’ll have a something else for the next 20 plus years. It’s is only price that keeps the young ones away.
Yes I think that is the conclusion we reached. Some things in life you just have to wait for.
Rolls Royce never bought out a cheaper product
Mate I think you just got it in one. What a great analogy. RR never ever compromised. Price has never been a consideration. They produce the best luxury car and if you can’t afford it others will. HD could learn a lot from RR. Thanks for watching.
3 weeks ago my local HD dealer got in a new silver CVO Roadglide & Streetglide. As of today, they are both unsold. The only thing I want from HD is a 121VVT Street Bob.
Ha Aha A Stage 4 Street Bob would be in high demand Zi agree. 😂
It's simple harley davidson are and have been for a long time selling a lifestyle and image dream and it's worked well unfortunately young people today are not interested
Maybe, but we will strive to change that view. As elders it’s our job 😂
LAMS approved is 650cc, so Harvey Danielson make a 500??? Make a bobber 650 thumper or twin & they'll sell like hotcakes
Agreed 100%
HD are losing touch with the brand which made it stand out above the rest, not only ares they focusing on touring models they need to bring back the chrome and shorter bikes for shorter riders....
I definitely think the corporation is trying to future proof itself, looking at the next generation. Problem is these whinny little bastards will grow up to be grumpy old men wanting a Fatboy or a Roadglide 😂
I agreed, they need to stick with what they are good at.
👋👋🇺🇸😎👍
I see all the time old harley guys putting shit on young guys on street 500 and sportster bikes not inclusive at all
You won’t see that on our show Craig. Nothing better than seeing a young bloke on a Sporty in my mind.
Old rich farts only ones who can afford milwaukee boat anchors and there maintenance.
What are you talking about? I'm not old. Although it is scary that I'm now the same age as old people!
Yeh it sucks doesn’t it 😂
