Please comment below which car you feel is the better purchase for up to £40,000, The 981 Cayman S or the 997.2 Carrera!

Very informative and interesting presentation. The 981 appears to have previous issues sorted and only time will tell how the other parts last. That said I’d still pick the 911. It’s iconic.

Absolutely love your videos relating to 997 maintenance, servicing and age related issues. I'm on the look out for one so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your stock.

Been looking at all your videos, great by the way, and fascinated by how dirty & corroded the cars mostly are. A lot of maintenance would be deferred by washing the undercarriage a couple of times per year. Not as common that we drive our Porsches in the salt during the winter here in Sweden…
    911 for me 😀

Guys - I am anxious for Part 2. My vote is the classic 911 as my first choice with this budget.

    987 Cayman R ? A manual with buckets would a great buy at £40k.

Tricky. The newer 981 would be the more sensible purchase for daily use and are amazing cars. I’d always feel a pang of regret when I saw a 911 though. I had a couple of 987s which were brilliant but traded my Boxster S for a 996 a couple of years ago. I don’t know if it’s a better car but I like it a lot more….I’d go 911 every time!

Once we get to purely practical issues for daily use, in fairness, we’re probably outside our budget & for that money, there are plenty of other, mostly German, options that would be lovely vehicles to own.
I do agree that if I ever bought a sporty Porsche (as opposed to an *SUV ie Macan / Cayenne), were it not to be a 911, I’d very likely regret not stretching for the iconic car of our lives. Unless you’re able to spring for something really exotic, like a Ferrari, what else than a 911 would do?😊
(*I know you can spend a ton of money on the more powerful end of these SUVs, but they’re never going to be sporty in the way I meant about a proper sports car).

Amazing the improvements in the 981 in terms of maintenance and components, although that 981 looks lovely I would always have the 911 over any other model. Saying that though I’ve never driven a 981! Thanks for the video Luke was interesting to watch.

So the 911 is still really a rich man’s toy then, even on an amazing FGP budget!

As usual, great video guys. I spent a lot of time test driving 997s and 981s and ended up buying a 981 S. Very pleased. Much better car for the money and far fewer problems. You can get a newer, lower mileage example for the same money as a 997. One thing to note is that a lot of 981 owners add the upper heat shields which didn't come standard to protect the coil packs. That seems to be one of the few common failures in the 981 - #6 coil pack failure. It's the only issue I've had with my 981.

you have 6 different Labour rates: £199.00, £299.00, £79.00, £529.00, £109.00, £85.00. I dont understand? Why dont you just put your base price per hour(£85.00p/h) seperate and adjust the hours you will take to repair certain projects... not being funny, just wanting to take my car to you guys and have it real clear what it is Im paying for.

Hello Special Solo. You have misunderstood the invoice. We offer lots of fixed prices for common jobs, which customers like for transparency. For example, if you look at the FGP Comprehensive Inspection & Report, it states it is a 3 hour job, but the fixed price is £199.00. I hope this helps.

Love how honest and transparent you are with your pricing. Tough to get that from Indy specialists much less dealers in the USA. I have a 997.2 in Southern California and it has zero corrosion on the undercarriage bits. Incredible to see what winter driving does to these cars.

I regret selling my base Cayman that I owned new from 2014. It handled like a magic carpet it was incredible. I did change in to a manual 996 Carrera 4S mind you in 2017 and I regret selling that car too!
