So Westbrook won’t be able to back down other guards without them getting LOTS of help from weak side defenders who are about 7-feet tall. The Rockets will have to run 5-out & jack up deep jumpers.... because now they won’t have any “inside game” at all. lol

This fucker put that long of a promo in a roughly 7 and a half minute video... I get why channels need sponsors, but don't be a fucking ass with your promos. Stick them at the end of the video at least. Best case scenario, put a banner in an annotation and don't do any promo. The NBA all-star game got such good ratings partially because the 4th quarter had no commercial breaks. People HATE ads; they disrupt the engagement of whatever media content we're watching.

Historically in playoffs, longer teams do better. You can't always bring your A game, but you can always bring your height. Regular season is important to a degree, but teams play little to no defence. This is when small lineups will meet their fate.

@@mhmdhafazalla2529 Lakers don't play amazingly, but it's very hard for rockets that have no depths to be competitive for 4 quarters. Those two super max contracts limited their bench depth and we've seen in the past that players who want championships are willing to sacrifice some money for that cause (eg LeBron, Kd). Imagine if rockets could spare 10 mil to pay a good player and not give them to Westbrook and Harden who earn super max money.

2:23 I know this stat has to be hella misleading because as a Hawks fan, I know dang well Alex Len isn’t locking down the paint. If I had to guess, it’s because many times a team scores in the restricted area, Len would get broken and couldn’t contest. This seems to works against Capela because he is much quicker to contest and has to pick up a lot of slack for his team. It just seems like an unfair stat

Ryan Burton Harden played really well in my opinion. He was getting double teamed all game so he had to be a facilitator. He made great decisions to get his teammates open shots. Most importantly he didn’t take any dumb shots

The Rockets are the anti 76s they saw that their small ball lineup is better and so they got one of the best defenders in the NBA to replace their center. Covington is basically a better Trevor Ariza. D'Antoni and Morey have some huge balls to ignore the way everybody else is playing and make the right move. I thought they would be lucky to get James Johnson, Iguodala or maybe sign Jeff Green, but Covington is a huge upgrade. Meanwhile the 76's saw how good Ben Simmons can be when he's surrounded by shooters. The Simmons, Ilyasova, Redick, Belinelli and Saric lineup was dominant, but they still won't get rid of Embiid. Instead they got rid of everyone else lol. Elton Brand and Bret Brown are cowards.
Also, the Rockets Are short but they might have the physically strongest starting lineup in the NBA. Those guys can all hold their space against Anthony Davis or JaVale Mcgee.
Well said. I think they only made this trade b/c of Westbrook. How are teams going to double team Westbrook and also guard all 4 shooters? They can’t. Houston now has them beat on every offensive possession. RoCo is a perfect fit. Him and AD looked practically the same height last night. Will probably make all defensive team again this year. Feels like everything is coming together at the perfect time for the Rockets.

But concerning Rockets, they just shot themselves in the foot for a Nuggets matchup, they have no one that can stop Jokic now while denver has multiple guards that can slow down Rockets backcourt, and no more lob threat in the paint which is Jokic's greatest defensive weakness for now.

Not fair, of course Capela's ratings drop when you don't give him the ball. Harden wants to make his points, Westbrook wants to make his points, not much left for Capela. Not his best season but he was injuried a lot. People still slate him for last years playoffs, but before that he was immense until the team set a new record for missing threes.
I saw Capela get manhandled for 6 games. He had to go. He was too soft. 7 footers should be dunking the ball with authority, NOT GOING FOR LAYUPS AND MISSING. He can't make free throws.

You think capela is an offensive center? Please, the majority of his points came from harden lobs, he never learned how to properly post up, and even if he did its too stagnant for MDA's liking
No I don't think so, but he's more effective if you use him. They changed their system to make Westbrook work, which made Capela useless in the offence. Not like Capela's performances dropped(how many games with at least 20 rebounds?), they just decided to not play to his strengths anymore.
Capela had all the centers you guys love in his pocket in that playoff run, but yeah people forget so fast when they read BS on twitter every day.

I'm not saying they should have traded him but due to his natural talent, he's refused to expand his game. He doesn't have a consistent set shot from anywhere and has no post moves.
To be honest I think any center in the nba would put up those same numbers based on the rockets offensive system
@Judah I definitely see where you're coming from, that system will stifle big men , if they are not shooters. But that doesn't take away the onus of capella to better himself and put in work during the off season, even though they don't necessarily run plays for him. If he's not catching lobs, most of the time he's shrinking the floor. Some of his turnovers come from the fact that he has no handles, and with the clock running down, he tries to force it back to James harden, wasting even more of the clock. He doesn't have a floater game or a mid-range.
I guess this move is best for him in the end, we'll see what he's made of.

He's a rim runner, always was, always will be, but he's the best rim runner in the league.

Harden & Westbrook are “clear it out and go 1v1 all the way to the rim... or dribble the clock out... and take a step back jumper” types of players. But Trey Young looks to use screens all day & tries to get assists near the rim. Capella gonna get all the touches at the rim he can handle. Yessir. So all the footwork, short jumpers & hook shots are gonna be on full display. Not just dunks & alley oops.

The gamble is: better defense on the perimeter vs defense in the paint and rebounding. The will switch on everybody, but I’m also curious they will use some kind of 1-3-1 zone defense, “banda bassotti” trademark . Anyway they will need to boxing out better, I guess.
