    no root and flashing rom and kernels are not the samething, also flashin kernel can help to improve the speed of your phone by over clocking your cpu and in some cases it even improves your battery life! rooting opens the doors for you to install custom roms and download certain applications from the play store which u couldent before i hope this answers your questions....

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  12 лет назад

    once you flash the appropriate kernel for the rom there will be no bootloop issues the recommended kernel is always best!! also backup user apps and perform full wipes to avoid bootlooping problems

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    look in the drivers folder of flashtool u will find all the drivers needed make sure u install them they are fastboot drivers,flashtool drivers,and xperia play drivers!

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    yes it should root your model,when u download flashtool simply open it up and you will see a list of diffrent xperia devices look for xperia play tick the box and install the xperia play drivers and also the fastboot and flashtool drivers

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    before flashing anything be sure to make a backup of your stock firmware in cwm recovery incase u encounter any problems doing this u can restore your phone back to how it was

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    make sure you have fastboot drivers installed along with xperia play drivers and also the flashtool drivers once you have them all installed you shouldnt have a problem getting into fastboot mode.

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    yes it will work with locked bootloader because its gingerbread based and the kernel is stock so yes it should work

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  12 лет назад

    listen any rom u are downloading to flash comes with installation instructions,some instructions say to perform a full wipe some tell u not to!!so basically follow the instructions and you will be good 2 go..

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    rooting will work with locked bootloader and installing any gingerbread based rom will work with a locked bootloader ,the only time u need to unlock the bootloader is if your flashing a custom kernel or a non gingerbread based rom like jellybean or ics..

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  12 лет назад

    u can do alot of things like get updates b4 they even officially relaesed like jelly bean and icecream sandwhich also u can over clock your cpu speed with custom kernels, you can also apply themes and custom roms

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  12 лет назад

    You just saved my phone, kind of. I'm a complete newbie, but I've decided to get 4.1.2 on my Play. I've rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, installed cwm, flashed kernel and accidentally wiped everything, I couldn't install CWM *tried via fastboot, but didn't work), I basically couldnt do anything. Then I've found your vid, downloaded the kernel you incuded in the description, flashed that, took the memory card and inserted it in my old phone, uploaded a 4.0.4 rom by markpython, and voila.

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
    @TheRealAndroidDoctor  11 лет назад

    make sure you have fastboot drivers ,flashtool drivers ,and xperia play drivers installed for the fastboot to work

    Hi thank you for this. I have one question though. In the video, the rom that you used is Gin2ICS but in the link you gave gingerbread 2.3.7 and finally your rom is 2.3.7. Why is that? Sorry if I got it wrong. I'm not that tech savvy ;p

    For anyone else having the same problems I did:
    don't install the kernal that is in the video description. It put me into a boot loop (Lupus screen, then Xperia screen, repeating). Download LuPuS_zeus_GingerBreadv12-full.img from here:
    forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849536
    Follow everything else verbatim. Worked on my R800a locked bootloader.

  • @TheRealAndroidDoctor
