Eh, as someone who’s on the higher end of the autism spectrum i honestly don’t care.
I’ve used it myself for none serious occasions, as long as they know the time and place to use it really doesn’t matter.
If anything, I think people should be more concerned about the lack of conversation about mental health in general, as someone who has family members who are dealing with physical and mental trauma who either won’t go to therapy or do and can’t get what they need due to highly specific health condition, i look at the media around me and i see people who aren’t willing to talk about the important things, useless wars over useless things, petty and shallow topics,
people losing their minds over the most basic things,
people need to actually start talking about those who are struggling with there mental disabilities/illnesses due to things outside of their control.
But even when they do, it’s under this veil, treating us like some sort of scared animal that needs help or some superhuman prodigy that’s the next step in evolution or some bullshit like that.
And the only thing big companies want to talk about us it’s for sympathy points, i apologize for being preachy, but I hardly see anyone talk about this stuff on serious matters and wanted to put in my thoughts.
I wanted to put this somewhere that people can see.

Did bullies on your playground not call the clearly mentally handicapped kids autistic and retarded? Do you think that's not a negative for autistic people? I'm high functioning but I saw what happened to lower functioning people growing up. People can care about more than one facet of an issue.

Now, learning this game goes pretty sanely: spawn as engineer, fuel and monitor the reactor, fix the wires, etc.
Endgame however? Well....let's just say endgame nuclear engineer involves purposefully creating a loose star and cooling it via voiding the entire compartment. Name of the game is experience, player choice, and the rule of cool.
When starting out you may just be some janitor just cleaning whatever mess is made.
After a while you end up being that one engineer who makes a trash chute rollercoaster ride that leads the occupants on a one way ride into whatever devious way of brutally maiming them you have on your mind.
Or you duel a space wizard with a lightning hammer and gun him down in broad day light with a revolver only to then make said wizard into the station's doorknob (AI).
To quote Mandaloregaming this game is a realistic cartoon, you can get to absolute shenanigans but the game simulate stuff to an extent (in its own janky way). Also there are tons of variants for that game as it has been modded to hell and back as the source code has been reverse engineered by either the goons of Something Awful or the TG board of 4chan, code that was then leaked onto the wide web so anyone could make there version (don't quote me on that I'm going off my memory) meaning some servers can have different roles or items or even play colonial marines fighting against xenomorphs.
To be pedantic the original Among us would be the game of Mafia (also known as Werewolf), invented in Russia in 1986 by a psychology professor, with the same premise of "there are bad guys lets root them out before they kill us".

As someone also on the spectrum, diagnosis and all at an early age, i whole hearted dont disagree with his assessment and wish people would stop being so damn sensitive. As a tard and also someone who does tard rangling for half my damn job trying to get people to build a truck right, just laugh at the funny and hush. People need to learn to laugh at themselves again and stop being so thin skinned.
It's less me being thin-skinned and more trying to normalize not using autistic as a slur, as many people on the internet are prone to do. I disagree with the notion that people will call someone, "autistic" for someone acting like a complete loon online and mean it in a derogatory fashion. That's the context I'm trying to combat.
@Kip Reacts i mean fair enough, but i just think, and its been my experience, that just laughing at the thing gives it a lot less power than treating it like it is an actual slur instead of treating it as the obvious joke it is. Every spectrum kid ive ever talked to has pretty much felt the same way. Its almost never us getting offended by it, because its funny, its a funny use of the term, its some whiney karen wanting to use us as an excuse to get uppity.

Space Station 14 on Steam is an excellent successor that is still missing a lot of features that SS13 has, but it is seeing regular improvement. Also, being open source more or less, anyone with coding knowledge can pitch in to help, which is super nice.
Some of the improvements include: Entirely new game engine, no longer stuck to moving on a grid, controls seem more simplified, research no longer requires you to memorize computer inputs and is much more intuitive, music playing moved away from esoteric nonsense to direct midi input via files as well as being able to play via an IRL keyboard hooked to your PC. There's a lot of things I wish it had, like the Colonial Marines server, or genetics, or all kinds of other things, but the base is so much more solid than SS13 was.
Getting good at engineer in this game can take literal years of learning kip. Most other roles can take just as long to learn to an expert level. Particularly combat, biochemistry, chemistry, and even more so telescience are extra hard to learn.
Add that to the fact that the mechanics and how things work and how jobs are done changes sometimes on a weekly or daily basis along with 2 to 3 main different game modules each with their own control schemes make this game and it's jobs rather hard at times to keep track of almost requiring some learning in literally every session. Anyways tex of the black pants legion has the best videos of ss13 and is far more tame than sseth if you wanted to check out more detail on the game though I'd reccomend his battletech videos even more.
Mandalore's video on it is also pretty good. And you get to see Sseth when he takes his meds.
As someone who has played SS13, it is definitely one of the games of all time.

I have a new story, from last night..... settings, I am a janitor taking refuge in the bar since the station is being overrun by giant bear sized spiders, dealing with them ain't in my job description, well one of the spiders appears outside of the bar, the next thing I know, one of the players head completely explodes (sending his brain and eyes flying)... why did his hear explode, well there is a gun inside the bar named ..... get this... the Russian roulette gun, so the poor SOB sees a spider picks up a gun thinking he's going to help out and BOOM 💥... after all the chaos is over and the danger is over one of the other janators brings the brain to cloning so hopefully he got to live on...

No, you don't understand. When he called this game an autism project, that was being 100% literal. He was not making some kind of autism slur where he equates it to being retarded in some way. The game was made by people with autism, from 4chan. It is played by people with autism, and maintained by people with autism. You must be willing to exploit the benefits of your neurodivergence in order to successfully comprehend and enjoy this game.
