I know this was just an unboxing and I’m usually not a fan but your vibe was so refreshing and what arri provide as rigging support is so indicative of what they expect from the camera and the user that it’s a great baseline for every unboxing. To see the package come together and the rational logic of your approach in picking up a piece and trying it in was always intuitive and refreshingly curious. Just the best and probably the only unboxing video truly worth watching. Fantastic and what a fantastic vibe you create. Thank you so much.
Congratulations! I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm still waiting on a couple pieces from Arri, but as soon as they come in I will be doing a follow up showing my stripped down setup. Stay tuned...
one tip, there IS a screen, its the square thing on the viewfinder, you pull it out, for viewing menu's and other non shooting things, while not actually filming.
Great video. Also the first time I have seen someone who owns both the Red Ranger and the Mini LF. I have been comparing the two cameras and debating which to buy for wildlife video. A review and comparison video would be much appreciated, especially if you were to touch on how usable they are as a solo operator!
yup, I'm building a really nice and small rig using wooden camera parts. Just waiting on a couple more pieces to come in but so far, its really encouraging!

I'm at 5:15 and I just feel compelled to point out that you're doing unboxing wrong LOL, or, illogically I should say - to me anyway. I would have gone for the money shot first, ie the camera itself, then you'd have some reference for what the other bits are and where they go. I know delayed gratification is a sensible strategy for youtube watchtime but it's itching my brain that it doesn't make logical sense, AND nobody would do it this way if they didn't have a camera recording them. At the very least I wouldn't, I'd have started with the body, then bits and bobs as they mount up together or how they should mount... To me it's like getting a car, and instead of sitting in it, starting it up, setting the seat, you grab the owners manual and start reading from page 1. Then check the trunk and jack, then the fuses, go look at shampoo and wax for it, try the radio, check tire pressures... Get what I mean? maybe it's just me, but I don't think so.. I know it's an old video, but I HAD to comment this...
if you want to order from B and H, you have to email or call. It's listed on the website, but not available for online ordering. I think it's that way with AbelCine as well.
Real cameraman use viewfinders because they are nearly 109 years old and know this stuff from 30 years ago :P. Just joking bit I think it comes from the Film era so digital cinema with screens and stuff is only 15 years old... so it’s another generation
If you can afford one of these, I don’t think you even need a course 😂 There’s a reason you’re buying this brand specifically and not some $2,500 Sony A7
This dude's inferiority complex is chilling. Despite being bullied and laughed at, you made it THIS far. Don't spoil it by falling for other ones comments. A colleague who bought his Amira showed just the same trait. Easily shaken up by peers pointing to his lack of knowledge.
Why would anyone watch someone fumbling around trying to put a kit together. Why not read a manual so you look like you know what you’re doing. It’s painful to watch.
one day I will have an Arri Alexa Mini LF :)
Whoa...not everyday we get to see an actual cinema camera unboxing. Thanks!
