Do it
Do it no balls
At some point, an F1 creator is going to do a VR career mode. I hope that it's you.
I'll be doing one ;)
My first venture in to the vr market is psvr2 and it's a shame no support. As Gt7 completely shocked the hell out of me.
Probably will have to wait for a change in engine.
@@pogmaster4559 yeah maybe
The only reason I brought psvr2 was because I thought it would come to ps5
@@michalthekind F1 24 will definitely be on PSVR2. F1 23 is just a little update from f1 22 (and al other previous ones). same old engine and all. they are supposedly working on a complete redesign for f1 24 with new game engine and everything, so it won't come to ps4 anymore.
@@michalthekind Gt7 ain't shitty 😂
I don't see any stuttering with my Oculus Rift S with settings mostly on High/Ultra (RTX 4070 Ti). It was a bit blurry/soft initially but managed to improve the image quality after changing a bunch of settings.
I also got the F1 23 on a sale price from STEAM. I use VR with my Rift S at this time. I also see a little stuttering while driving in VR. It seems to be noticeable when I turn my head to the left and right. Looking straight ahead in VR is good for me.
I also have F1 22 and there is no stuttering with using VR in that game.
Right now I have been doing time trials. Don't care for career modes, just hop on the tracks and race for me.
Thanks for the video, take care.
Are you using OpenXR? I recently installed it for my Quest 2 and it made the experience so much better.
I ran it with the Meta Pro at 90Hz maxed out settings and it ran beautiful no stutters, 89 - 90FPS. Loved it. Close to same build as you 13900K, 64GB Ram, 4090 and it looks way better on the Meta Quest Pro as opposed to my HP Reverb G2.
Quest Pro blew me away with how good it looks. £700 brand new sealed (which is only £200 more than Q3 is gonna cost and the controllers alone would be £300). I returned my PSVR2, sold my quest 2, retired my Rift CV1... (also had Vive og, PSVR1 etc) and hands down Quest Pro is the first true 'upgrade' I've felt I've had since getting into VR with the DK2 back in 2014. Flawless PCVR wirelessly (wifi6e), best lenses going, near OLED blacks (but NO mura), awesome controllers, everything self tracked, all rechargable, looks sexy and has the best ergonomics I've personally experienced (great not having anything touching your face at all). People who slept on quest pro are mad (for PCVR not standalone which I don't use)
Finally someone is honest about the compression issues with headsets not using DP. I have both a Quest 2 and G2 and I've probably put 90% of my VR time in the G2. Only haven't done as much VR as I upgraded to a 7900XTX and unfortunately it's worse in VR than my 6800XT was.
This looks amazing
I run a desktop 3060/laptop 3070ti and get medium performance on F122 with a Quest 2. Its still prone to crashing every now and then but it's the only way I enjoy playing.
I hope to goodness that a 4090 can do better than ultra low on this game.
AMS2, iRacing and ACC run effortlessly at much higher settings with the same GPU so I really hope they put some effort into optimising for VR. As you said, it really is an amazing experience.
Thanks for sharing the VR content though. I've been waiting for somebody.
Hey man, could you elaborate the performance you get on ur pc? Like on low settings can you get a solid 120 fps without stutters? And is there input lag on the quest 2? Thanks
@@alpha_btw7396 Do you mean for F1 23 or just sim racing titles in general?
F1 23 performs even worse than F1 22 did. With the 3060 on ultra low settings I can't do anything but time trial and even then it can be laggy. Frame rates generally between 45-60FPS.
The benchmark mode suggests it should be able to do more but this is not the case in practice - particularly in the wet.
For other titles, I generally play AMS2 and iRacing - the performance on those titles is faultless. High graphics settings and easily hit 120FPS with no lag or stuttering.
I've recently started playing LFM on AC and did it practice session with equally good results. I'm yet to try a race. I'll let you know.
All in all, I've been very content with the Quest 2 and the graphics cards above - to the point I'm not yet convinced an upgrade would be worth it at current rates. The F1 titles are just not very VR friendly.
@@1753sarah yea this just runs like total ass, theres no fixing it, the vr implementation is just terrible.
The quest VR resolution issue is that f122 and likely f123 does not have native oculus support. Which means the game is going through steam VR, then oculus VR then to your headset. There is a redit list that shows the games that are natively supported and they play fine. I have been using open composite, it gets ride of the steam VR side and it works Fantastic. Ryzen 7 and 3080ti with maxed out graphics on f122. Not all games are supported with open composite and there are some nuances but it's much better.
Was going to suggest the same thing
Great info!
Doesn't you resolution come down when using open composite?
Maybe that's why f22 was soo laggy when looking around.
i hope the VR optimisation is better this year, was super hyped to be playing in VR with the last game but couldn't because of extremely bad performance :(
We all know that is not gonna happen
@@Bambeakz it's been fine for me so far (with ORS).
@@davefellows Better than F1 22 you mean? I will give the 10 hr EA play version a spin then when it cools down over here
@@Bambeakz I didn't try F1 22 but F1 23 has been good.
It may be the amd driver. It supposedly has some stutter issues. From alot of different stories I have seen.
I couldn't run F122 in VR, it was so broken, hopefully 23 works better
It was a mix of fps and the actual tracking had the head bobbing almost, worst VR in any racing game ive tried
Yeah the head tracking on it was so awful, almost like delayed when you move your head. Hope it’s fixed
@@MrTomWaffles dude I was also unlucky, the VR was the worst VR experience ever, a genuine nightmare in vr
Disable ASW, 100% of my issues were because their integration with Oculus didn't consider ASW and so you moved your head and stuff started jumping around
Its still terrible and broken.
Try disabled ASW in the Oculus Tray Tool and see if that improves things. F122 was an unplayable mess in VR for me, objects lagging around in the headset when I moved my head. Then I disabled ASW and it's super smooth.
Also the Quest 2 has plenty of resolution for breaking boards, but they have a LOD sphere around the car about 100-150 metres radius, and anything past it is down-ressed. It sounds like they haven't upped that in this year's game which is unfortunate.
ASW?
@@davefellowsAsynchronous Spacewarp
how do you sewt up VR version ? mine doesnt not load and or cant find it it says wheb i try to load it
They gotta do this for PSVR2
i recoment 90 hz for vr. (its the frames per eye. so u try to render the game with 240 fps ) because if u drop below 120 on one eye thats where the stuttering starts
I did try lower refresh rate, which just looked terrible on the recording and didn't help in the headset either
Thanks for the honest review, I refunded last year because of the bad vr implementation, everything moved with your head if I remember correctly. I might try this one when it goes on sale but my hotel es aren't high for my pc specs running this well.
What is the vr headseat are you using?
I have 6800XT, 5800X3D and rift S on max setting and never had any stutter. F1 22 runs basically flawless.
If he turned his fps down the issues should disappear or at least be less pronounced
Codemasters needs to get their shit together with VR. This is the only way to race now, and they need to dial it in.
for reference i play on a 3080 and also have a quest 2, i don’t have any stuttering. did a few 50% races and a lot of 25% races and no stuttering (on f122).
alex, try to to update the oculus app and your gpu drivers
All up to date! Have you tried other racing games? I didn't think it was too bad until I tried iRacing
@@AlexGillonGameplay VR has such big discrepancies in settings possible that I'd take these guys with a grain of salt. I will say that you don't need 120, even a stable 60 is smoother looking than an erratic 100+
If f1 23 will run smoothly in vr, i will surely do a whole my team career in vr
F
Using a Quest 2 on F1 22 I had lots of crashes when the game was switching between the cockpit view in VR and the menu or videos not VR (like at the end of you video) when you see the normal screen in VR. is it still happening? I use to trigger it by using flashbacks
I didn't have any crashes at all
What is the stat in the top right hand corner of the wheel with the green numbers in brackets beneath it?
I think that's fuel
Why did you have it set to vr ultra low? I didn’t have as good a pc as you and had it set to medium and it was smooth-ish. I do have a reverb g2 (5600x, 4070ti)
It was just the default
@@AlexGillonGameplay ah, no problem. Just thought you may have had issues when running it higher for some reason. Cheers, enjoying the content 👍
How do you cope with motion sickness?
i had high hopes for the stutters being removed for this game. looks like thats never going to happen. due to the fact that they outsource the games vr mode, we are in a final build and preview build for the game, it wont get fixed. the development time remaining is likely just for testing and patching bugs, feature set is complete. it might even be a limitation with their game engine
AMS 2 would be off the hook with those specs, I wouldn't mind seeing what this PC would be like with AMS 2..... I bet it is amazing in a storm......
I play AMS2 with a 4080. It’s fantastic
@@akpanjennings Oddly enough I just got off AMS 2 and seen this, lol, It is a different Sim since the new update the other day, Not sure what aws done to improve it but flipping heck the F1 cars feels planted, Same as some of the other cars, I am still trying to figure out what cars and what exactly was done but it feel totslly different than last week, For the better, Yeah AMS 2 is good on my 3060 12gb, So can imagine what it be like on a better GPU, I only got the 3060 because the prices have dropped like loads, Because of the 4000 series, GPU and CPU prices is going to drop again by the looks of it, With the next Gen CPU's the older Genarations are going to get cheaper but still some i7 CPU's can be found for great prices at the moment, Never a better time to build a PC, lol....
Yeah AMS 2 is a kick ass Sim, Probably my favorite at the moment....
i wasn't even the one in the VR but watching this made me feel sick💀
I’d buy it only if they bring it to PSVR2. Thanks for the video.
love vr
Just change your steam resolution settings to fix stutters
I know this is an older video. I got my Quest 3 for Christmas and I am very disappointed with F1 23, the stuttering is horrible. Hopefully it will be fixed in F1 24 or 25 or ....
Running VR in Assetto Corsa is butter smooth and looks amazing.
Just tried VR now and I've noticed the display on screen is smooth as anything but in the headset it works perfectly other than the slightest movement and it shakes like crazy
Lmao same shit from f1 22VR, insane how they can’t fix the one biggest bug that ruins VR
Does it works with TrackIR ?
hello guys does VR works well with yhe Nvidia RTX 3050 ?
wow am I sick of content creators saying they arent playing the final build because they always are
My man try using frame cap to avoid stutters
Using a g2 and 12700k 32gb 3080, and can't get it to run smooth at all. Running ultra low settings and 70% resolution
I can still see the blurriness even though graphics are maxed out. IDK if it's youtube compression but I believe one of the reason the game sucks in VR is because the environmental assets are still being rendered in full 3D when some don't need to at all. Having a Quest 2 barely makes a noticeable difference because of updates with link cable, because AC and others are crisp for me.
whoever they outsourced it to, I wonder how much freedom did they give them to optimize the game for VR. Just makes no sense how I can run AC, PC1/2, AMS 2 maxed out and ACC on medium/high and get 90fps on a 3070, but this still struggles on low with zero A.I. on F1 22. I'm upgrading nonetheless, but what you're reporting shows that it might be for nothing...
Does it still require sharpening to look good? OpenXR?
OpenXR not working obviously
Quest pro is gonna be far better than quest 2 if you're talking 'best experience'. My Q2 is long gone since I got a Pro, the colours, sharpness and esp the lenses are like night and day vs all older HMDs I've had (inc a PSVR2 I returned). Best of all it works flawlessly on wifi6e with a dedicated RAXE 300 router (actually better quality than the official link cable for me and no tether). The colours, local dimming, clarity AND the comfort (no face brick/gasket) makes the quest pro at least 10x better for PCVR (not a scientific measurement ;) )
Why dont you try out Virtuel Desktop with Quest 2. Give some super Vr exsperiences.
I REALLY wanted to play f122 in VR but it was too stuttery when compared to AC or Project Cars, sad to hear that this years is not different
Same here. It's the one thing holding me back from buying f123.
The final preview video? Ngl I'm gonna miss F1 RUclipsrs uploading the exact same content before the game releases 😂
Hopefully my content has been a bit different!! The marketing for this game has forced us into uploading similar content, but I've tried my hardest to show unique stuff
@@AlexGillonGameplay Totally understandable mate, and your job as a content creator is all the more challenging for it. It's always been a criticism I've had to Codemasters that there needs to be variety in the game for people who want to try and be a bit different with their content. I think if you were able to do quick races in VR even if it isn't optimal yet, I'd definitely watch that. 👌
try VR in AC with the mods.
Man that's so disappointing to see and hear that VR hasn't been improved. Hopefully this is due to it being an early build, but if that was the case surely EA would say to the content creators that VR isn't ready yet and not to preview it
VR performance has been silky smooth for me with Oculus Rift S (RTX 4070Ti and most settings at High or Ultra)
As much as I’m looking forward to this game I’m so disappointed/pissed that I can’t play it on my PSVR2.
Im afraid Gt7 is all were going to get my friend. At least they did an excellent job on it.
You race like me , kinda lol
I hope I can play f1 22 on Xbox in vr
Is it me or does the camera look off center?
i think it looks like this because you can only see what is shown on the right eye of the VR headset.
@@kninja3030 make sense...
is PSVR2 supported? on ps5
He said it’s not no plans for it either maybe for F1 24
If this isn't running smooth as butter on a 4090, then it isn't a VR-worthy game. Thanks for the review, probably just saved me £60!
Pico 4 would have given a better experience
I have a 13900k with a z790 godlike with 64gbs of ddr5 and a 3070 using the meta quest pro and it runs like shit. So I take it I need to pick up a 4090
It's such a shame. I hope F1 24 comes with PSVR2 support and improved VR support by consequence because F1 22 is just very bad compared to every other racing game and F1 23 seems to be the same.
Classic EA. They do something cool but then do it half assed...
Guys, If you dont have a super high end PC, or you at least have a respectable gaming laptop or tower.
Still running F1 23 through an oculus, even with resolution downscaling and super low graphics will be an incredibly difficult drive. It is very stuttery, and can sometimes make the gameplay...unbearable. Other racing games like Dirt Rally 2, Works fine, so it might be an optimizations issue, or the oculus isnt powerful enough to handle it. So warned before you decide in trying it :)
The head tracking is out of sync. That's where the jittering is coming from. Same bolt-on VR hack from climax studios like last year. Unplayable.
I really hope they change the steering wheel, it looks rubbish.
What abt the steering wheel ??
Vr in f1 22 is terrible an it probably won’t be better in f1 23
F1 23 VR performance is god awful. Slide show with a 5950x and RTX 3090
If we can see better than Alex can in the headset, than it must look trully aweful, as this video is blurry as all hell. F1 23's horrible graphical filter mixed with whatever resolution this is, looks rough!
Try using a decent headset like the 8kx if you want proper visuals and no stuttering once fine tweaked. Quest 2 has no place in vr on pc im afraid. Gives first time users a bad opinion of vr. Plastic binoculars in my opinion.
F1 VR is the worst VR implementation among all racing titles that have VR at all. It is just terrible. I've spent hours to make F1 22 to make it working but without much success. If you want F1 in VR just use another game.
Can’t believe how trash it is…. I had it on lowest settings and got about 5FPS and my PC is beef… for a AAA game, it’s absolute trash!
No PSVR2 is pathetic
Dude watch HamVR to optimise your settings
