Hey there! I've been working on some new things that will eventually be posted. What kind of video would you like to see next?
@@rosslmccallum It's kind of ballad, reverse beat..I'm sory, If my english is not good..
Nguyễn Thanh Ngà a ballad lesson could be good!
HI Ross, thanks for these great grooves! However, I didn't quite get number 4... And as for the counter on your mobile - which app is it? Tahnk you and have a lovely day! Lenka
Thanks Lenka, 4/5 is a great start! That app is called “Click”.
Cool...
Thanks :-)
@@rosslmccallum thx for tutorial... before we used djembe to play music... now i'm interesting to learn how to play cajon. Thx
Okay that sounds like an exciting new step :-)
What app is that on the phone counting with the large numbers?
Hello Ross! Can you, please, tell what is that reggae music behind during the tutorial? I would like to have it to play in the background while I am practicing reggae beats on my cajon.
From tomorrow I will be the member of community. you're great!
Hey Una, they are from “RUclips Audio Library” I chopped up loops on my sampler to make what you hear in this video but the tracks are still fun to play with from start to finish.

Welcome to the community and I hope I can teach you even more with the members courses. Thanks so much!
Beat three is hard
Mitchelle alec J. Songco yeah some advanced stuff in here. Keep up the effort though :-)
K
Great stuff here for accompanying reggae/dub! I have always counted reggae in half time? I mean the classic guitar chops on 2 &4 with the snare drop on 3, bass drum emphasizing 1st & 3rd, counting as eighths. I don't know if this could cause any incongruities but I find it a lot easier....
Dave Argall I’ve counted it that way too in the past. When I heard about “the one drop” meaning you don’t hit beat one, I changed how I counted it. But the feel is still the same so I didn’t notice probably!

Can be done! Will take some time but can be done!
Sooooo perfect😍😍❤️❤️ Can you tell me the name of 3rd reggae beat?
I got it from the RUclips Audio Library in a rush but I’ll go back and find the name of it.
@@rosslmccallum Alright, thank you so muchh Ross.

Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi Ross, where can I get link for downloading sheet music, I became member recently // TIA
Hey Anand, that’s so awesome thank you!! It’s in the community tab on my channel page.
Leave a comment to let me know when you’ve got it :-)
Is it necessary to read notes when learning how to play the cajon?
I usually use my ear but like that I can use notes to save something that I can replay later.
I need the book. How can I get it??
If you sign up as a member of "Ross McCallum's Class" you'll have the link to download your PDFs as well as get access to all of my members courses and more! Thank you :-) ruclips.net/user/rosslmccallumjoin
Saya ingin mempunyai alat ini bagaimana saya membeli..🙏
You can buy them in musical instrument shops and online :-)
#5 is rooted in a right-lead paradiddle, eh?
Thanks for the comment! Not so much. The first part is indeed RLRR. However a paradiddle would continue RLRR LRLL. It's kind of a custom hitting order that worked best for getting the constant bass as well as a shuffling ghost note rhythm together.
Hey... why you don't cover songs with cajon.... 🥰
sandip Sandip das here are 3 that I’ve done! ruclips.net/p/PLkFTJa7bYzTiycV--__CTD8we2qh4OJqQ
Hello sir, I'm also a huge fan of cajon but I don't even have one, I used to tap tables or any flat surfaces to make a sound but the thing is, I really want to experience real cajon, so I'm begging you sir, please give me one ☺️🙏😊
Sorry but I can't. However, I believe I spent two years practicing drums with only sticks on a practice pad before I got my first second-hand drumset. Maybe you can keep it up a bit longer!
@@rosslmccallum okay sir , sorry for that
No problem at all, I’m happy that I can teach you all kinds of rhythms that you’ll surely put to great use on your cajon when you get it.
@@rosslmccallum thanks a lot sir
Maybe it's just me not knowing how to read notes. Do I need to be able to read notes? I find the videos confusing because of the notes
Hey Anri, it’s fine to just use your ears to learn (that’s all I did for years) but once you can read a little bit, remembering rhythms gets easier. Here’s my video about learning to read rhythm. It’s long but I think it can help How To Read Rhythm And Sheet Music For Cajon Lessons ruclips.net/video/a2-iv2-xYU0/видео.html
@@rosslmccallum Thank you for answering personally! I had already found your video and I will be watching it multiple times probably. I'm only just a beginner, but I'd like to have a decent chance and reading rhythm seems important. Especially since I play to play along with others in the future!

Yeah I had the mic slightly mis-attached so it was rubbing on the shirt I think unfortunately.
