    Did this very repair this weekend. The flush lever in the kit had a plastic arm. To use in angle mount position must bend it. Be sure to bend it by heating the plastic in boiling water, which softens the thermo-plastic. Otherwise, you will just snap the part.

    A couple more things to check on the chain is to make sure it doesnt get stuck under the flapper if its too loose after you flush the toilet.
    Also to check for leaks is to put a couple drops in the toilet tank,wait a few minutes and see if it leaks down into the toilet bowl.
    If it does the flapper needs replaced.
    But be for installing a new flapper take some scotch bright and lightly clean the seat in the toilet tank to clean any debris off of it

    Awesome!!! My toilets came with plastic arms....that very easily bend and break over time.

    What store did you buy that tank lever from?

    I just did a toilet lever repair in a the original handle strangly was not reverse threaded. If the nut doesn't come off one way try the other direction.

      Good old reverse thread. Gets me every time.

      @@EverydayHomeRepairs I said the one I took off had a normal thread. Going in and I thought it was reverse thread but it got tighter as I turned it to the right. Just saying that they may not all be reverse threads.

    Just get a Korky Strong Arm,, Lows sells them for about $15. It's universal and 100% better made then any other brand. Last one you will ever buy for that toilet.

    If we have to jiggle the handle to get the water to stop flowing, would replacing the handle fix this problem?

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs  3 года назад +2

      Hey Deb, probably not. I would take off the tank cover when the water is running and jiggle the handle to see what changed to stop the water flow. I would think it is either the toilet float is getting caught and not cutting off the water at the "full" level or the flapper I talked about in the video not fully lowering into position to seal the tank water from the lower section of the toilet. Let me know what you find 👍

      I found a video about jiggling the handle and it worked. Took off cover and hand tightened the nut on the inside of the tank, then use a wrench but don’t over tighten. Have to tight opposite of righty righty. If that is not it the chain at the bottom might be blocked. It took less than a minute to fix it. Your video inspired me to fix this new problem that started last week.

    Why, oh why, does my new lever handle not fit? After I tighten the nut on the new handle it continues to flop down. Are their specific handle types to fit certain toilet tank types? Good grief - this should be easy peasy, and I've tried to tighten it, and even to the point it doesn't move at all! Just my luck .... :-(

    Your video was very easy to understand but I don't have a metal arm on my lever that i could bend. I have the installation complete but the lever is plastic and hits against the front of tank. Can I bend it I afraid it will break.

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs  3 года назад +1

      Hi JoAnn, is the entire length of the lever hard plastic? If so, it probably doesn't have the adjustable design. In those cases you will need to match the exact mounting position/angle with the correct replace handle/lever.

    That's also how you make your toilet nicer for a cheap price!
    Not to mention that if overtightened, you might end up breaking the porcelain tank and you're really in big trouble.
