My old dad lived for keeping his lines straight, when he worked on the farm back in the 50s and 60s . He once told me that after some corn he had drilled had come up his boss received a compliment from the old Duke of Beaufort as to the accuracy of his work. Everything he did was in the detail. Must say you did a fine job there yourself FP.
trevor cox Thanks Trevor, my family think I am too anal about it, I recon they say that to get out of helping... “because it won’t be good enough anyway”.🤔 They may have a point though, they are all too busy looking at their phones to do it properly.
Hi Farmer P, the company I work for are hiring a KRM flail deck to “destroy” some gorse that is affecting some sensitive equipment on the airfield. We need it as low as possible, do flail mowers ride on a roller, or is it best to set the 3 point linkage to a suitable height? Cheers.
Most flail mowers will ride on a roller, if you want your cut as close as possible you will need to set your arms low enough to follow the ground. Avoid the big boot type flails if you can, multiple smaller T or boot cutters will be faster and need less power , and probably leave a better Finnish, if your gorse is mature though it may be a bit much for a topper, you may need multiple passes to get it down.
No front PTO Robert, also if I did set it up for front drive I would not be able to use it on any other tractor, I’ve got a friend who regularly borrows it to cut a sports pitch, I would be denying him the option.
Kenneth Green .... Thanks Kenneth, my family laugh at me for my straight lines, “Perfect Pullen” is an old nick name given me by my brother in law thirty years ago. I however think a little pride and precision in your work shows character and care. The down side is, none of my family will step up and take a turn, stating “ It wouldn’t be good enough” .... Poor excuse if you ask me, but as a father of four girls, they could be right, I would know where in the field they were every time they looked at their phone. 🚜😄
Kenneth Green ... I love my girls to bits, wouldn’t want to be without them, but they can be a bit tiresome. Still, I always have my four legged cows to go and have a sensible conversation with, they don’t argue over clothes and shoes at least🐂🐑 🙄😁

Hi nice a compact tractor , a big investment 14 years ago but looks great and with 3500hrs it should serve you for many years
Nick Hill .... That’s the plan Nick, look after your kit and trust it returns the favour.

@@FarmerP cheers, bit of trial and error, i'll probably start high and drop down as required, got all day to do the job so not a problem!!
Job done, gorse gone...........for now, management happy!!
What made you get rid of the bandit and get the Teague? Was the bandit not up to it? Many thanks
I actually think the Bandit was a better machine, but it was getting worn, it needed all new bearings, flails and a gearbox. It was time to change.
Good job but need to ask why u don't mount topper on front linkage or don't u have a front pto 🤔

Straight lines or not you made a blooming good job of that topping Mr P.

Very True Mr P. Animals have relatively simple needs compared to us humans but most are not as entertaining as family members...
