- I figured it's high-time I did another grunge song.
This was always a stand out song for me growing up, Layne Staley blew me away and was a huge part of me finding my own voice.
Hope you like my tribute to the legend RIP.

this is absolutely amazing! capturing the same energy and vibe as layne, but definitely with your own unique style. i think the most impressive covers are those that capture the vibe of the original song, while still being their own thing, and you hit the nail on the head! the choruses are fucking insane man you killed this and then some.

@@JacksonLedford im a guitar player and i do the same thing as much as i can. replicating a player's sound is very satisfying and fulfilling, and it also helps you develop as a musician and allows you to take aspects of those other styles and apply them to your own playing. doing stuff like that has probably helped me develop most as a guitarist and musician.

Thanks! It takes some time, but when you start to feel comfortable with your own voice and what suits you, everything opens up :)
@@JacksonLedford, I actually joined a choir as a bass singer to help me achieve some goals. Like stance and how to train my throat to relax. Despite the obvious lack of music theory I had. It helps a lot. On the other hand, I use to sing a as a mezzo and can achieve a deeper voice easily. Now, I've been working on higher notes and how to use a mixed voice to achieve a more powerful voice. I like doing stuff like Scott Weiland or Eddie Vedder. I get it right if I practice enough. I can achieve some of Mike Pattons songs as well. My voice fits such singers but, as you say, I'm trying to find my won voice and that's the real quest for me. Thanks for your words man !

I've been a bit rough recently, I had a patch of being sick and my voice hasn't come back quite the same since (which is why I haven't posted anything for a while) hopefully I'll be back to 100% soon and I'll start uploading again :)

Thanks dude. It took years of working up. For a long time I found these higher vocals very difficult, until eventually, as my voice developed it just all came together. Lots of little things over a long time.
