That is only used in country. During war time operations, the TC will flip a switch and lock it in place, thus silencing the back up alarm. Some units will mandate that the back up alarm be used in country and in wire though
I think this is a 2001 M1075, This looks like a perfect project Rng3r. He did an amazing job with the MTVR rigs and the 8x8 longhorn oshkosh. I bet this one could be built to be the best 4 slot truck.
I've been driving one of these for about 4 years since my guard unit acquired one. It rides like a Cadillac compared to older versions of the PLS and turns much sharper than previous models, which have the turning radius of the locomotives I operate in my civilian job lol. I miss the scream of the compounded turbo mounted over the supercharger on the v8 Detroit engines they used to have, but these CAT engines are pretty nice too. Very quiet, semi smooth ride, and great A/C. Only thing I look forward to at drill anymore. Getting in this truck, and staying on the road, and out of the armory doing haul missions all weekend
Thank you for shaking the camera it was fascinating to adjusting the picture.looks great truck.till then keep smiling with lol politely and safely thumbs up truck
Unloading a PLS, Pallet Loading System. Looks to be straight from the factory, the crate would have the other equipment needed for the trucks operation and user level maintenance.
Just leave your M16, and AR15 in the truck. Always keep the 9mm on your side though so the father doesn't feel too inadequate with with 12 guage at the door. Unless he is a gun and vehicle nut. Then it's toss him the keys and stand back as he giggles...
I'll never understand these types of trailers with the exposed rear tires and having the load that drives over the top of them...(I won't mention the elephant in the room, the rear bumper 😅)
Just a stinger for bridge weight laws. It will be flipped over ontop for empty. It never comes off but can be removed with a couple pins, couple of airlines and a wire harness plug.
M1075 PLS. There's other versions of the same HEMTT platform that are 8x8, one very similar to the one in the video is the M1120 LHS, which has the same hydraulic crane, but is 8x8.
I have an M977 HEMTT, straight cargo version of this truck, and of all my military trucks its definitely one of my favorites to drive! When comparing the HEMTT to trucks like the Tatra 8 series of trucks they really dont compare very well the Tatra trucks main design purpose is to be the best OFFROAD truck possible, very key work is MAINLY offroad and they fill that role extremely well since that is what they were designed to do. Lets look at a HEMTT, first my truck is 39 ft long and it weighs 40K pounds empty but I can load 60K pounds in the bed and drive the truck with a max Gross of 100K pounds. Yes there is way to much of a big space between the two sets of axles and you could certainly get hung up in that area but the reason for this is that the HEMTT was designed to haul extreme amounts of weight with some off road capability. You cannot have both a world class off road truck and have it capable of having a 100K pounds max gross. That is why I do not believe they compare very well, they are just to different!
@@brandonharris9237 I DO own an M977 HEMTT it is the cargo config with the crane on the back I believe Grove builds the crane for the truck. The engine is a Detroit 8V92 its just under 500 hp
Some models have a hand cranked crane on them up near the front. Hook the crane and lower it down. And some others have a bigger crane on the back to load things onto the cargo area, and you could use the outriggers that stabilize the crane to lift the back off the ground. To change the front, you'd need a wrecker to lift it, which also had a crane to easily lift the spare. The military is all about teamwork.
Those are the strongest taillights I've ever seen
Any other taillight: the smalles little rock possible on the road smashes them, breaks the bulb off, puts a short etc.
Those are load-bearing taillights sir.
the tire is not even touching the taillight.
@@olDirdey ??? Look carefully at 01:10
@@oczhaal the tire is rolling over the beam mounted at the frame. the taillight is inside the beam. so tire is not touching it.

The Global HET also, while we're at it.
2x Derry Longhorn (Oshkosh) its fine
Wood Blocks: I'm beginning to feel obsolete.
Nah, the wood blocks are near eternal 😂
They've been holding trucks, trains, and multi million pound ships for centuries to decades now
I can't even begin to explain how bad I'd love to have one of those.
Me to and drop the kids off at school in it!
I hate them as a mechanic
As long you can afford the gas ⛽
That rear bumper didn’t look happy lol. I would love that thing on the 405n for my morning commute lol
That's because the airbags are deflated on the flip axle.
That tiny wooden box must be heavy.

What a beast
Why not put temporary blocks over each trailer wheel drop section to even it up???
R u sure that’s not a Tatra?
the very first thing would be to get rid of the back-up alarm.
DOT regulation device. It's not allowed to travel on any road without that alarm.
Well you can always unwire the alarm, and the truck technically still has the alarm.
You people obviously have no business around heavy machinery.
I am pretty sure there is button to turn the alarm off. I dont even remember hear them on when i was on post.

Yep

And to top it off The spare tire that must weigh a ton on the roof ? Lol !
There’s probably a system to unload the spare. The older version of this truck had one, it was mounted different though.
