There are definitely some things you can do with a scroll saw that you can't do with other tools. And the work can even be meditative at times. At times....
Hey! First of all: Very well done - I really lined it ;) I've got a question: I myself want to try out and do an inlay where both sides of the wood are flat and look decent. I do not want to sand it down heavily (the project im working on already used quite thin wood and besides i would like to have similiar thickness on all elements). My approach to still get an good result is by picking a little more thick wood for the parts which will be pressed in. This way I can sand the outstanding parts on both sides. Do you have any experience on this? Will it even be possible to have both sides without big holes (at least at small wood thicknesses - I guess at some point it could not work cause of the angle)? Thank you (I hope you understand it .. :D)
Definitely use some test pieces, but try angling the saw at only 2 or 3 degrees. That should get you the result you're looking for, but you also might need need to fill more gaps. Good luck!
Nice process and nice finished product. Thanks for making the video and sharing it with us. But PLEASE edit out the parts where you move the camera! It made me nauseated! Thanks.
Very nice job. I found a pattern in a box, basket, and bowl book that is similar but still enough different that it will require me to do things a tiny bit different that you did. But, all in all you did a great job. I might ask, what brand of spray can finishes are you using?
When I see you start off in some sort of blazing speed I think , what’s the point ?? Just type out the instructions as viewing is I possible . You may be great at scrolling but I’m not impressed with won’t video ! Sorry !
Nice work. I’m inspired!
Basically how I make my salt and pepper boxes

Haven't tried scrolling yet, but this inspires me to do it.

That's a good idea, and I've seen it done, but I'm just too lazy to look for one....

Can you send by e-mail the pattern for the box! awesome work by the way!
I just did a Google image search for 'simple tree of life' and used the one titled 'Tree of Life design Yggdrasil World tree.'

The shellac brand is Zinnser; the polyurethane is Minwax. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. I'll have to do a search for them here.
Iliked the box when it was finished. HOWEVER, I found his frenetic video taping style distracting, Just an observation.
