i was stuck in 000 mode in 685C, but after i change file name (From yn685c_offical_fm_v204.dfu to 685_204.dfu) and it works, i'm very happy to share this.
Dear Maxwell. I updated the flash´s firmware but I'm curious about this thing. I´ve seen several videos about pairing yn685 and the controller in Canon. They can change not only the power and modes with the controller but the zooming as well dynamically. You can see how instantly the parameters change on the flash´s screen as they change them in the controller. I cannot get these features in Nikon. Can you?. I was hoping to achieve it by updating the firmware in both devices. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@@VisionGuy After many hours of research, I discovered that those manufactured before 2016 with Firmware 1.2.2 cannot be updated by the user, only by the factory in China.
Found the problem... I had to update the YN622 in first place. After that, installing firmware 1.4 on the 685 was no problem at all, on bowth flashes (win10).
Try taking the batteries out and try it again. I think I had an issue when I did it the first time too, but it worked fine the second time. I have several
@@VisionGuy as mentioned in my comment above it was the old firmware on the trigger. Had to hold down "mode" + switching on. After the update it changed to "group" + switch on.
@@VisionGuy i successfully update it.. But the HSS still now working if the camera is onCam with my Nikon Z50. .. But if i use a 622N-TX trigger the HSS at 1/320 shutterspeed works just fine. Weird
That is weird. Maybe see if it will let you update again? Maybe something got corrupt? I have 3 flash units and one if them failed the update. I had to do it a 2nd time.
