I love Ai and how she cares for Nene. Annie is a prankster and wants Nene’s attention. She is young and smart and active. I don’t think she is malicious. Naughty and Shabani protects her always. A pattern from the time she was born. I feel for this family and love them all. A day in the life of the Shabani troop. ❤
The gorillas are smart enough to know that stealing food from another gorilla is mean - so unfortunately Annie WAS being malicious. Annie was likely motivated by hunger, too - but she also chose to prey upon the weakest member of the troop. Annie seems to be picking up a bit of anti-social behavior from Kiyomasa - enabled by Shabani’s protection of her. I hope the keepers saw what happened and handed Nene some extra leeks through the bars so she didn’t go hungry that day.

Annie is one of the most empathetic apes I've ever seen. She feels the hurt of her loved ones. So for her to bully somebody, yeah, you must've treated her really bad. Annie will either treasure you or cut you down to size, and that's what I love about her so much.

Nene was evil and malicious to Annie..abused her from an infant..Shabani had to protect Annie from all 3 of them. These animals are intelligent and do not forget. Annie is intentionally getting back at Nene after years of abuse. Watch the videos from Annie's birth after being rejected by her mother and Nene and Ky...Shabani groomed and dhoed Annie the only live she got. 🎉🎉❤❤get your revenge Annie!

I respectfully disagree. Shabani may be lenient with Annie, and rightfully so, but he has on rare occasions let Nene chase Annie around. But if Nene as much as lays one finger on Annie, of course Shabani will react accordingly. He obviously hasn't forgotten the treatment Nene gave Annie when she was a baby, and to this day, he won't trust Nene near Annie if he feels there is any threat. Annie is a part of his everything and won't ever let anything happen to her. She's the only one who has been loyal, respectful, and caring towards him. She even has the capability to calm him down. Even though Nene is older, slower, and can't defend herself like she used to, she can still put up a hard fight. Although she has no front teeth, she still will bite Annie with her gums. Don't get me wrong, I love Nene, but when it comes to how she treats Annie, I despise it. Also, when Annie was little, she was desperate for Nene's acceptance and love the most. She hardly ever got positive acknowledgment from Nene.

I also think you're going way out there with this observation of "abuse" as misunderstand their behavior, but you're entitled to your opinion. It would also help if the zoo didn't put negative titles out there daily. Guess I just view behaviors differently because I've spent 40 years in the primate world with 23 species of primates, including Western Lowland Gorillas. I've never seen Ai protect Nene like that before. (If that was what she was doing.) Either way, Ai is such a wonderful daughter, and the concern she always has for Nene is always sweet to watch. I never seen Ai (23) get involved when Annie & Nene are fighting. Thank God Shabani (27) intervened before Nene (52) hurt Annie (10). Nene is the toughest grandma. It would be nice for Annie & Nene to make peace while Nene is still alive. But it looks like Annie is not ready to forgive the grandmother that was mean to her when she was a child.

she did what any Gorilla female would do when a stranger is introduced to the troop,yes it's a long story but Nene was doing what any gorilla would,if you follow the story from the beginning you will understand and make your own opinion.Unfortunately humans are to blame really.Nene does not like Annie and will not accept her as part of the troop so she avoids her now as much as she can.Annie will continuously bully Nene,stalk her steal from her,and attack her because she knows she can now Nene is elderly.Ahhhh the lives of the Gorilla troops never ending saga lol
@@ChristineCole-kl4vuthat is not true at all. You can have a large group that has 3 or 4 females with babies. They don't normally attack each other's babies. There is nothing normal about that. Actually the mothers will normally look out for the babies, even if they aren't their own. You may see one act out a little because of jealousy, but it is usually acting out against the mother, not the baby. The way nene used to go after annie was just ridiculous.
Nene was absolutely horrible to Annie😢😢. And some people may say that Nene didn’t know Annie was her granddaughter but trust me they know and remember,, (I can’t post the link anymore sorry RUclips but it’s about 2 brothers that was separated for five or six years and soon as they seen each other as silverbacks they went running up to each other and actually hugged like humans do) the zookeepers would bring Annie to the doors and let Ai, Shabani, Nene, and Kiyomasa visit with her before introducing her back into the troop.. and some will say that Nene was protecting her own son. But Nene had to alpha so she did what she thought she had to do I guess that’s why Ai never was interested in saving any of her babies. She had 3 one was born dead and the other passed away before the zookeepers got there😢😢😢😢

Annie did everything to gain Nene's acceptance, love and attention. The only way Nene gave Annie ANY acknowledgment was if Annie annoyed her. I feel like, for Annie, any kind of attention from Nene was essentially good attention and if that requires teasing her, that's what Annie will do. I do, however, feel that the pranking on Nene nowadays could be out of spite, mischievousness and sometimes I feel like it's to gain some form of connection. There's times where she still wants Nene affection. My grandma on my moms side was identical to me with how Nene is to Annie. It's a horrible feeling for any adolescent to feel and it can create an extremely broken and angry adult towards those who have abused them. Now I love Nene and care for her deeply but Im convinced that she was deadset on getting rid of Annie in the beginning. I'm always beyond greatful that Shabani always made sure to put Nene in her place and fiercely protected/still protects Annie no matter who initiated what.
I always take Annie's part BUT not this time. NeNe was by herself minding her own business eating. Annie should have left her alone. Also, I notice Shabani doesn't rush as much to defend Annie, he watches lets Annie fight her own battles. Because as someone said Shabani won't always be there. Unless they don't move her but not sure how thay works. I love Annie, but she was a brat thos time. I wonderwho Shabani was trying to get to Annie or NeNe? But he didn't hit NeNe thankfully like he used to when they were younger. Ai I love her, she is quiet and gentle, BUT do NOT mess with her momma, and she doesn't care how big Shabani is, or that she could get hurt, she loves and respects her mother. The only one Annie respects is her father, and she loves her mom. Kiyo seems to be annoying to her at times, when they were little they were playing all the time. I guess as they get older it changes.
If Nene were to get relentlessly physical and violent on Annie, he would've definitely reprimanded Nene harshly. If my memory serves me, he's done it a few months ago. Here, from what I think I could hear was I think he slammed his hand on the pole 2 times, which was when Nene stopped vocalizing and looked down, noticing him on alert below. Seems like he even tried to reach up to her as a warning but saw that Nene stopped and left. He definitely has been a little less overprotective in Annie's issues with Nene (if he feels it won't go overboard).

as much as i do love annie, it does get kind of old and tiring to see her keep bullying nene just because she knows that nene cant do much to defend herself. yes i know that nene was cold / mean towards her when she was a little gorilla, but if she has as much empathy as people say she does, then she should be able to judge when enough is enough. i'm sure by this point the amount of times annie has attacked/bullied/patronized nene has outweighed the times that nene was mean to her when she was young.
Nene was a bit more than just cold/mean to Annie when she was a child... the videos are there for all to see. Also why not all the outcry from the bleeding hearts when Kiyo does the same thing..... Also i've never seen Annie actually hurt Nene when the opposite can not be said.

At :59 I was scared to death when Nene had trouble getting up the second to the last steps if she wouldn’t have grabbed that rope she would’ve fell 😢😢😢 Nene isn’t my favorite gorilla but I love her just as much as any other gorillas… At her age the zoo needs to be putting things in the outdoor enclosure so it easier for my grumpy old ladybug can get around so much better before and not after 😢😢😢 Please talk to the zoo ANYONE!!! Kiyomasa loves his little 😂sister and Annie loves her big brother they used to run and play holding on to each other 🥰🥰. I’m happy that Kiyo takes up for Nene after all that’s mum😊 I have to say again Kiyomasa looks just like Nene ,,, he’s the silverback (soon) version of Nene 😮😮🎉🎉🎉 Annie looks exactly like Shabani ,,, she’s the female version of Shabani 🥰🥰 Ai has to belong to the mailman 😂😂😂😂😂I was joking I know she’s Nene baby from the other Silverback BUTTT I forgot her Dads name again sorry.. Ai looks like her father. I forget his name but I saw a picture of him. Regardless of the past I wish Annie would leave her Grandma alone as she is so old now. Nene is easy to rile up and she plays off this. I know it can get kind of scary when Annie taunts her on the tower.

Well, that's how Nene was (yet much worse) with Annie when she was a baby when all Annie wanted was Nene's love. Annie tried so many times and her desperation killed me.

@@carolehankinson4969 Annie is Ai and Shabani's daughter. Ai is the daughter of Nene. Annie is Nene's granddaughter. Nene and Shabani are the parents of Kiyomasa. Annie and Kiyomasa are siblings by Shabani. Ai and Kiyomasa are siblings by Nene. It's a bit confusing, lol.
Shabani has only recently started disciplining Kiyo and even then it’s not as much as he should. Nene has never let Shabani do his job as a father and the leader of the troop, she thinks Kiyo is above all and can do whatever he wants. Of course Shabani will not discipline Annie as much as Kiyo because she respects him and doesn’t try to override his authority. She’s also not turning into a silverback like Kiyo, trying to intimidate Shabani. Kiyo has gotten too cocky and doesn’t respect Shabani like he should.
Learn the history of this group before you comment. But that is pretty standard isn't it, people speaking and giving their opinions without doing any research, just reacting emotionally to the moment.... If someone tried to kill you as a child you might not take kindly to them for the rest of your life. That's what Nene did to Annie. Many of us also suspect Nene had something to do with Ai's other babies who didn't make it. But go on, poor Nene, been the bully all her life but now you have a bleeding heart for her when the tables are turned.

To me, if you look close, it looks like Annie was just going up the stairs and Nene raised her hand to Annie first 🤷♀️

she did what any Gorilla female would do when a stranger is introduced to the troop,yes it's a long story but Nene was doing what any gorilla would,if you follow the story from the beginning you will understand and make your own opinion.Unfortunately humans are to blame really.Nene does not like Annie and will not accept her as part of the troop so she avoids her now as much as she can.Annie will continuously bully Nene,stalk her steal from her,and attack her because she knows she can now Nene is elderly.Ahhhh the lives of the Gorilla troops never ending saga lol
@@ChristineCole-kl4vuthat is not true at all. You can have a large group that has 3 or 4 females with babies. They don't normally attack each other's babies. There is nothing normal about that. Actually the mothers will normally look out for the babies, even if they aren't their own. You may see one act out a little because of jealousy, but it is usually acting out against the mother, not the baby. The way nene used to go after annie was just ridiculous.
Nene was absolutely horrible to Annie😢😢. And some people may say that Nene didn’t know Annie was her granddaughter but trust me they know and remember,, (I can’t post the link anymore sorry RUclips but it’s about 2 brothers that was separated for five or six years and soon as they seen each other as silverbacks they went running up to each other and actually hugged like humans do) the zookeepers would bring Annie to the doors and let Ai, Shabani, Nene, and Kiyomasa visit with her before introducing her back into the troop.. and some will say that Nene was protecting her own son. But Nene had to alpha so she did what she thought she had to do I guess that’s why Ai never was interested in saving any of her babies. She had 3 one was born dead and the other passed away before the zookeepers got there😢😢😢😢
@@ChristineCole-kl4vuIf you want to talk about a "continuous bully", go back and watch the videos with Annie when she was little again. Nene was the "bully". Annie did everything to gain Nene's acceptance, love and attention. The only way Nene gave Annie ANY acknowledgment was if Annie annoyed her. I feel like, for Annie, any kind of attention from Nene was essentially good attention and if that requires teasing her, that's what Annie will do. I do, however, feel that the pranking on Nene nowadays could be out of spite, mischievousness and sometimes I feel like it's to gain some form of connection. There's times where she still wants Nene affection. My grandma on my moms side was identical to me with how Nene is to Annie. It's a horrible feeling for any adolescent to feel and it can create an extremely broken and angry adult towards those who have abused them.
Now I love Nene and care for her deeply but Im convinced that she was deadset on getting rid of Annie in the beginning. I'm always beyond greatful that Shabani always made sure to put Nene in her place and fiercely protected/still protects Annie no matter who initiated what.
I always take Annie's part BUT not this time. NeNe was by herself minding her own business eating. Annie should have left her alone. Also, I notice Shabani doesn't rush as much to defend Annie, he watches lets Annie fight her own battles. Because as someone said Shabani won't always be there. Unless they don't move her but not sure how thay works. I love Annie, but she was a brat thos time. I wonderwho Shabani was trying to get to Annie or NeNe? But he didn't hit NeNe thankfully like he used to when they were younger.
Ai I love her, she is quiet and gentle, BUT do NOT mess with her momma, and she doesn't care how big Shabani is, or that she could get hurt, she loves and respects her mother. The only one Annie respects is her father, and she loves her mom. Kiyo seems to be annoying to her at times, when they were little they were playing all the time. I guess as they get older it changes.
If Nene were to get relentlessly physical and violent on Annie, he would've definitely reprimanded Nene harshly. If my memory serves me, he's done it a few months ago. Here, from what I think I could hear was I think he slammed his hand on the pole 2 times, which was when Nene stopped vocalizing and looked down, noticing him on alert below. Seems like he even tried to reach up to her as a warning but saw that Nene stopped and left. He definitely has been a little less overprotective in Annie's issues with Nene (if he feels it won't go overboard).

as much as i do love annie, it does get kind of old and tiring to see her keep bullying nene just because she knows that nene cant do much to defend herself. yes i know that nene was cold / mean towards her when she was a little gorilla, but if she has as much empathy as people say she does, then she should be able to judge when enough is enough. i'm sure by this point the amount of times annie has attacked/bullied/patronized nene has outweighed the times that nene was mean to her when she was young.
Kiyo does way worse to Nene than Annie does. He physically smacks and pushes her. Also he has taken her food many times way more than Annie has.
Nene was a bit more than just cold/mean to Annie when she was a child... the videos are there for all to see. Also why not all the outcry from the bleeding hearts when Kiyo does the same thing..... Also i've never seen Annie actually hurt Nene when the opposite can not be said.
@@Simon-gc6uf ive voiced my opinion about kiyo doing it to nene too ... its just in other videos where it shows him doing it. i have watched quite a bit, but i guess i havent watched ALL of the old videos because i dont recall seeing one where annie was hurt by nene. althought it did look like nene was nursing a wound after their interaction in this video? idk i am just a causal observer on the internet...🙂

At :59 I was scared to death when Nene had trouble getting up the second to the last steps if she wouldn’t have grabbed that rope she would’ve fell 😢😢😢 Nene isn’t my favorite gorilla but I love her just as much as any other gorillas… At her age the zoo needs to be putting things in the outdoor enclosure so it easier for my grumpy old ladybug can get around so much better before and not after 😢😢😢 Please talk to the zoo ANYONE!!!
Kiyomasa loves his little 😂sister and Annie loves her big brother they used to run and play holding on to each other 🥰🥰. I’m happy that Kiyo takes up for Nene after all that’s mum😊

Ai looks like her father. I forget his name but I saw a picture of him. Regardless of the past I wish Annie would leave her Grandma alone as she is so old now. Nene is easy to rile up and she plays off this. I know it can get kind of scary when Annie taunts her on the tower.

I feel abit sorry for them as they look so bored but obviously wouldn't expect them to be reading books or doing crosswords 🤣🦍📘etc as know in the wild they'd spend their time foraging for food. @@carolehankinson4969 Annie is Ai and Shabani's daughter. Ai is the daughter of Nene. Annie is Nene's granddaughter. Nene and Shabani are the parents of Kiyomasa. Annie and Kiyomasa are siblings by Shabani. Ai and Kiyomasa are siblings by Nene. It's a bit confusing, lol.
I dislike annie she gets no discipline like kiyomasa does she gets her way because shebani protects her against everyone she too entitled
Shabani has only recently started disciplining Kiyo and even then it’s not as much as he should. Nene has never let Shabani do his job as a father and the leader of the troop, she thinks Kiyo is above all and can do whatever he wants. Of course Shabani will not discipline Annie as much as Kiyo because she respects him and doesn’t try to override his authority. She’s also not turning into a silverback like Kiyo, trying to intimidate Shabani. Kiyo has gotten too cocky and doesn’t respect Shabani like he should.
Learn the history of this group before you comment. But that is pretty standard isn't it, people speaking and giving their opinions without doing any research, just reacting emotionally to the moment.... If someone tried to kill you as a child you might not take kindly to them for the rest of your life. That's what Nene did to Annie. Many of us also suspect Nene had something to do with Ai's other babies who didn't make it. But go on, poor Nene, been the bully all her life but now you have a bleeding heart for her when the tables are turned.
