- SCP 973 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Smokey.
SCP-973 consists of two entities. SCP-973-1 is a police cruiser, resembling those used by state troopers in the early 1970s.
SCP-973-2 is reported as a Caucasian male in his late forties, wearing a state trooper uniform dating from the same time period as SCP-973-1.
SCP973 will manifest at night when another vehicle enters the designated territory, and is believed to be triggered by the target vehicle accelerating over a certain speed.

SCP-973 hack: Pull over when he starts gaining on you. When he's near your window, after he gets out of the cruiser, gun it. Repeat until you are out of his patrol range. His behavior is mindlessly predictable. However, nobody aside from those in the know would see him as mindlessly predictable and they would all mindlessly predictably fall into how he perfectly hunts and kills his victims.

@@Tiperia That's the point. When you take off while he is out of his car right before he gets to your door, you have until he runs back to his car and catches up with his car again to repeat the trick.

@TavaAdam_TR If you have the ability to instantly plant a vehicle detonating charge and clear the area without him or the explosion taking you out, then this SCP would not really be a threat to you in the first place. I think that SCPs like this materialize from effective nothingness when they start hunting, so doing damage would probably only be a temporary thing... like some wraiths. Gone for now, but manifesting 100% peachy-keen later next time it hunts. It would be really cool to have rear rocket launchers or mine droppers like some old cheesy spy movie, though.
As a truck driver, terrifying road stories like these scare the bejesus out of me.
I figure Smokey wouldn’t screw with most truck drivers given you could just knock the poor loner’s cruiser right off the road as a warning and feed him 16 wheels if he didn’t learn from it.

Niko didn't make it to tell his side of the story.
A speed demon gains power by the fear and tailing on a victim, also the inscribings on a car teleport the souls of the victims inside of it into a hell dimension to be tortured and used, it is better to scratch that symbols out or to put an X or a cross on it to anihilate the effect and save the souls. Smokey gets activated by aggression, fear or speed, ignore it and mantain a good course in order to be attentive and make maneveurs more easily without speed being against you until you go out that affected cursed area of influence. Usually this zones have some markings inscribed that makes them opened protals between realms. They carve them on anything that can remain in time as a longevity mark.

I've always wondered why they don't get a D-Class to steal Smokeys car. It's a car that could potentially have no limit on how fast it can go. Would be incredibly useful for some SCPs

3:44 holy shit, that is the same story my dad told me about 20 years ago about the local town where he used to live...but instead, the woman was plastered in the back window, with her bony hands pressed, staring at the driver, without blinking and eyes wide for the whole tunnel you had to cross after you met her... Not gonna lie, I got goosebumps when I heard the story here, even if it´s coincidence and there are a lot of local myths similar to those.
Perhaps they based it off of actual legends/gossip they've heard before.

Well, color me impressed. Glad you guys proved me wrong. Way this channel was treated it was almost like an afterthought to ur other, bigger channels. Little effort on art, barely doin more than reading the wiki pages on mic. Now the ch characters continue to be unique, stories are well written and not carbon copies of others, etc. You guys are putting real effort now and i applaud it. Good job. You should feel proud.

A 1970's police cruiser. I'm pretty sure this SCP was inspired by "Smokey and the Bandit." One of my all time classic 70's films. A police sheriff named Buford T. Justice "Smokey" and his son "Jr" would chase the bandit across multiple counties across the country on the highway to stop him from smuggling goods to their location. No matter how far the bandit traveled, Smokey was always behind him. Check out the film its a great movie!
Now we just need an SCP on "Snowman," the truck driver!

There’s a real story behind this one.
Look up the ghost stories about Yorktown Virginia and one of the first black state troopers killed on duty (it actually dates to the 1970s). Supposedly a road is still haunted to this day in the county by both the trooper and cruiser going after the people responsible for his murder.
It was a gory and racism fueled murder by clansmen, similar to how the victims are killed in this story, difference was he was hung afterwards. Locals will typically avoid the road at night, considering the spook story does have some merit of tragedy with other suffering, especially since it’s one of the few roads not completely blocked in by houses or commercial buildings left. It’s tragic for what happened.
Edit: please don’t go looking for trouble down that road, both the state and local cops aren’t happy with people blocking the roads (it’s a narrow two-lane as the perfect horror story background should be)

I bet the stretch of highway near my house is far more dangerous than the Devil's Passage. 2 or 3 times a week, on this half mile (~805 meters) stretch of highway, I'll see a car crash there. It is exceptionally rare to drive through that stretch of highway without seeing any debris from car crashes.
Dude this video is an example of why hunter is one of my favorite voice actors.

My headcanon is he was a corrupt cop who got killed in a roadside ambush sometime in the 70s, and now his spirit continues to patrol that stretch of highway looking for any lawbreakers he can exact vengeance upon.
