Easter Sunday 1977, watching my dads friend crying at the last episode of Jesus of Nazareth changed my life. I’ve been on a journey ever since searching for Jesus. I hope I find him one day.
It reminds me of my childhood i used to watch "Jesus of Nazareth" every Easter during the Holy Week with my cousins! I still do to this day!
I used to watch Jesus of Nazareth as a little girl almost everyday after school. I would cry at many parts, my mom said I memorized most of the lines. This makes me cry even now...I'll never forget the Greatest Story Ever Told that was sown into my heart as a child over 35 years ago...

I've been educated as a Catholic and this was probably the first religious film (if it's correct to name it that way) I've ever seen. One thing I always remembered from it since I was a little kid is the music.
I've heard lots of soundtracks from another Jesus films, but they always feel too glorious and overwhelming; this one doesn't.
Maurice Jarre conveyed a sense of mysticism. As if it were some kind of quiet, silent greatness, just as I always envisioned Christ's persona in the scriptures.
The still small voice. Humble and awesome is the Lord! ♥️

Thanks for your comment. I saw this when it was first aired in 1977 at age 8. I attended church and Sunday School weekly, considered Jesus my friend, but when I saw this film I wept and truly understood what Jesus did for me and the entire world. I have been in His hands ever since, and He has held onto me through good times and bad.
@@connieronning9396 each and every day, we all go through torments and bad experiences, large and small, for ourselves and the people around us. We all carry a cross in our backs moving in life, just like Jesus. But in the end, we manage to come forth and overcome it, rise up and reach to the heavens with the power of the soul. This is what the Resurrection is meant to represent in my opinion. Outstanding series, magnificent soundtrack. Happy Easter (since it's nearing orthodox easter here)

One of the finest Bible films of its genre. I lost count how many times I watched it on network TV since 1977 PLUS I have still have VHS and DVD formats. I LOVE THE LORD with all my heart and this perfectly cast film still ministers to my soul. This Maurice Jarre film score is a key component.

@MANUEL MORANCHEL absolutamente, sus acordes son conmovedores, a la altura de la historia.
He escuchado a un critico, muy acertado pienso, que dijo que esta serie hace mucho hinchapie en la vida de Jesús como judío. Las escenas en las siagogas y sus encuentros con miembros del sanhedrin están bárbaras.
De niño crecí mirando esta película solo los días sábado en semana santa y era algo impresionante, nose porque me llamaba tanto la atención, hoy con 35 años camino junto a Jesús quien me llamo a la edad de 30 años en donde no encontraba rumbo ni sentido a la vida y el 👆 lleno por cometo la mía, por gracia somos salvos y la infinita bondad que recibimos debemos entregarla al prójimo y así modelar a cristo Dios bendiga al que se dio el tiempo de leer esto y Cristo te ama eres una persona única para el no lo olvides

Great movie and beautiful soundtrack. The acting was superb. Robert Powell nailed the role as Jesus of Nazareth. I used to watch this movie around the easter holiday, and it never loses its power over me every time I watch it.

Love it! Love it! Love it! Thank you so much for posting. I was 14 when Jesus of Nazareth first aired and could not hold back the tears which was intensified by listening to the soundtrack. Forty-three Easter Sunday later, the made for TV movie and soundtrack are still very emotional and moving that once again made me cry. No Actor comes close to portraying Jesus as how Robert Powell did it. And,
by me saying this, no one knows how Christ really looked like.
Agreed, Robert Powell's performance of Jesus was definitive.
Perhaps Robert Powell was British and not of Jewish descent, so one can argue that his pale skin and blue eyes don't likely match the physical appearance of the historical Jesus of Nazareth. But I agree, I don't think any actor has even come close to Robert Powell in capturing the love, intensity, and holiness of Jesus.

I love this music so much! It reminds me of My Lord Jesus! I would watch the movie Jesus of Nazareth so many times we wore it out! I would switch the crucifixion scene with that of the movie The Passion of Christ because Jesus suffered more than we can act.

So... I'm not really a believer, but my wife is. We are watching the series every year around Easter time. I find it really, really good because it captures the world, its time, and most important, the message & legacy of Jesus. You really can relate to him, but also to many other characters. At the same time, it leaves room for interpretation: Is it historical? Did Jesus really exist? Or is he a fictionalized / mystified version of someone who really once existed?
I ask myself: Does it really matter? Isn't it much more important to follow his example, his "Path": be calm, be peaceful, love the people around you (even the ones who do you wrong), help others, do something with your life. Get yourself some good principles & beliefs. Let them guide you. Speak up when you see something is wrong.
And even if I do not believe in something like "God", I regard Jesus as a model for the "perfect human being" whose example we all can - and should - strive to follow.
You will find the way ...
Like Jesus said himself to his disciples: "Who do YOU say that I am?"
