    Absolutely tragic to see an ancient manor left to go to ruin this way.

  • @michaelbonnar7258

    That was utterly fascinating, I agree with some comments that these books should be saved if only to stop others from vandalising them and to keep them safe for posterity.
    Great explore, brilliantly covered, glad you did not take too many chances.
    Thanks.

    I usually agree that you leave what is there, but I could not have left the books. Books should be cherished and kept for the future generations. Each one would have left with me.

    You should try to get someone to go in a retrieve all those books and donate them to s library or a museum before they get completely ruined what a shame all those beautiful antiques I bet it was a beautiful place back in its day so sad

    • @Scrollermania1963
      @Scrollermania1963 5 лет назад +3

      I agree....
      All those books should be retrieved.....
      This is going to sound off the beaten path , but what if....?
      By some strange chance there happens to be an extremely important piece of Biblical Manuscript evidence tucked in between all those books ?
      Very slim chance....
      But it would be very important to get them in the hands of an museum where they can be digitized/Archive them....

    Wow. What an amazing place! Those books need to be saved before they are totally destroyed by the damp. The radiogram is early 1940's. Would have cost a small fortune when new.

    I just don’t understand why family members don’t clean out these abandoned homes after the residents pass away because there had to be someone left in the family you would think or it would make sense that the house would be in a will or probate or something or even auction why do they let these amazing old homes rot away it’s so frustrating

  • @redbird9658

    Makes me very sad that this beautiful place has been left to rot beyond repair. Tragic loss.
    That list on the door said blue service and listed the plates etc in the service. 31 d is a price. d refers to a penny.
    The bottle room I think was for preserving food ie fruit jam etc. Or it could have been a dairy for milk and cheese.
    Why anyone would just abandon these valuable things is beyond me. It's criminal.

    You state that you heard the previous occupant had first editions in the library. Well, speaking as a rare book collector, I can honestly say that quality of the book counts in value. Those book cabinets were all open, allowing in dust and mildew (killers of book value). I noticed several of the adjacent windows were open as well, letting in the weather. I'd be very surprised if any of those books were worth more than a few pence.

    Leaving that house of such historical value to rot is just irresponsible.
    Pathetic corporations just want a buck for the property and to hell with the literary significance and the loss to the rest of the world. The true value is not monetary. Makes me angry.

    • @Benitoite17
      @Benitoite17 5 лет назад

      im pretty sure that this is not natural decay. The floors would never be in such conditions from natural decay. Now if the roof was completely gone then it might look something like this. The floors were intentionally demolished. Why you ask,Im guessing to keep people from accessing the place. Dont know exactly seems extreme but ive only come to this conclusion cuz this seems to be a very common theme with floors missing with this particular style of architecture and time period.This is prob the 4 or 5th abandoned video ive seen with the same pattern. The builders of these structure knew how to build and with the best materials thats why they are still here today. We dont build like this today. We use the cheap stuff and as a result doesnt last that long
