  • The Charred Mansion... sadly burned down on 19/9/2015. After watching a video of this very building on fire I’ve found out the owner neglected the property & split the house up into 5/6 flats. Sadly most of the occupants lost there homes & personal belongings.... it was very sad walking around here seeing toys and photos still on the sides, food in the kitchen and even cloths hanging up in a wardrobe...

after 32 yrs in the fire service id say the fire started in the roof space and spread downwards looking at the burn patterns therefore very hard fire to fight

Yes it was the roof, there is a link to a video that shows the fire brigade dealing and an incident log with the appliances that attended. Pet hamster rescued,

Great vid, thanks so much. Just as an FYI when you have a housefire the Ash and smoke leave a layer of debris over everything it's from all the toxic materials burnt, it's corrosive, acidic and can be carcinogenic so you are advised to take only essential items if they can be cleaned down professionally (always done by insurers due to cleaning materials needed)

Thanks again Colin for another great explore, albeit more of a sad one to see this time. I’ve read your comment about splitting it off into flats which I found bizarre; clearly not done to conform with regs?? My initial thoughts were an older couples house as the decor and furniture had an 90’s vibe to me; the toys possibly belonging to grandchildren. It certainly made more of an impact seeing the amount of toys and personal affects still about the place. Lovely old pram in the courtyard too and what appeared to be a diving tank? ( not too sure). Another great watch and look forward to the next! ✌🏼

The house was rented out. 8 people living there.
That's a big bit of land doing nothing. My guess is the landlord didn't have the correct insurance to cover having tenants?
Surely they'd if had the payout and rebuilt in 6 years otherwise?

As always when things r good then life if fine but, A bit of a bad patch when everything is slow and money is tough,

The property appears neglected and unkempt 5 years ago in the footage of the fire. A property like this in such a location is going to be expensive, with large ongoing maintenance costs and eye watering insurance. I would surmise money became tight and this was an insurance job for which the payout has since been refused. Colin the hair is very cool, brings me in mind of my shared look with Robert Smith (The Cure) circa 1988. Very surprised more items have not been vandalised or stolen, probably due to reluctance to enter dangerous structure but neither car deserved the dubious respray...
