- This is a video for everyone out there who are curious about the Neon SRT-4 and maybe interested in buying one. It highights some things you should look out for when buying one of these.

You’ve got your head right about car people in high school. Keep the passion going. I just sold an extremely clean one with 213k no 3rd issues after 6 years and stepped into a Focus RS. I’m 25. I’m already looking to get into another SRT but have to get a house and a garage beforehand. Let me know if you decide to sell yours next year :) also your 1st gear synchro is out. Just slip the clutch in 2nd when > 3 mph

I bought an 05’ SRT4 with 100k miles for $3.8k. 200% stock besides BC coilovers (set at max height. Looks stock). Perfect condition. Guy was a dodge enthusiast with a family. I love it so much but I have yet to do a pull or hit full boost. I drive like a 90 year old lol ❤️ My skittle. Good video btw 🤝
Every SRT4 I find are like $10-20K, with 100k miles or more. Where can I find one that cheap😂
Do you still have it and if so did you have anything like this guy mentioned with the 2005? I’m going to look at an 05 tomorrow.
I'm buying a srt with only 30 thousand km on a new built motor and thing is modded right up 430 whp up to 500 if tuned to e85 for 10 grand Canadian

Tempted on snatching one of these over here in Germany once my sh*tbox Fiat project is done. Problem is: only found two in the country since they are imported and getting them registered here is a pain. Pure nostalgia though from growing up in North America. Glad to see you're taking care of this one, looks good.
That would be a pretty cool car to have up there haha although it would still be a shitbox compared to what you guys got up there
@@daylenb7014 i mean, most of what we got here are only EU brands which a lot of it is VW or Fiat group so the selection gets quite stale and... unreliable to begin with haha

Here's a tip for making better videos in the future: stay on point. Nobody wants to watch a 20 minute video about you complaining about waking up early, how nostalgic that parking lot is for you, what drink you drank that day, nobody cares about the 5 minute mark, and don't randomly say "i need NOS" when talking about your drink. Stay on point, you know what you're talking about when it comes to cars so talk about cars and the views will come.
Exactly. If theres a title in the video. Get to that point. 8 min in he then starts to talk about what's in the title. Food for thought
Gear extender and billet shift selector should solve your gear engagement issue. Solved mine

I'm gonna grab one up for 3k rockers are rusty but everything else is in pretty good shape car runs very good shifts good and everything just not in the best tip top shape, will be a nice fixer upper
try synth oil in gear box. I dont own one of these. but it solved shift probs esp when it was cold out on first drive of day

Find one bone stock and you’ll be good! It took me years of being patient to find the right one but you can for sure. Ohh and never trust anybody in a suit like he said....trust a real car enthusiast that sounds passionate about it.

I’m looking at an 05 with 90k miles pretty stock and I had a 2004 like 10pm years ago and I sold it to an 18 year old kid and it was his first car and he really wanted it so I sold it but now years later I kinda want one for a daily driver. How’s the car these days? Do you still have it?
Where did you get your front Splitter?
Your paint is amazing . I bought an 04 str4 a couple weeks back for $2500. Came with a big stock turbo and an aftermarket wga. It's been good for what it is but rn I'm having problems with either those iac, tps, or a vacume leak , boost leak . I'm new to turbos so I'm still learning.
What are your symptoms? Your boost gauge at idle should read right around -18 if it's at -18 you shouldn't have a leak anywhere. And if you hear air whistling at WOT that isn't the noise of the turbo then that might be a boost leak you should check if your boost falls more rapidly than usual at WOT. To check if your IAC or TPS is bad is your car hanging idle right around 2500 rpm after you let off the clutch? Then it only goes back to normal AFTER a complete stop. Then that is the IAC or TPS I believe you can only tell the difference by using a scan tool to check the trouble codes
@@daylenb7014 well i ordered the tps and iac anyways . The wires from what I checked where fine . But today at idle my was at about -20. And when like I said I'm still new to turbos but to me it sounds like all turbo noise not like air as some people describe it . Also something else could be the gauge but I was hitting 10 psi regularly now it's reading above that almost 15 .
How many miles did it have? Looking at buying one for 3k with 185k miles.
I noticed no catch can? Def would of done that first I drained mine quiet a bit check your intake and intercooler pipes there prob filled with oil.
On the long long list of things to fix

Keep it stock and it will be reliable. Mine is bone stock. 170k miles on it

Now upgrading blow off is that considered non stock any more samething with the air filter they installed an AEM intake that all that has been done to it. Oh by the its a 04 75 thousand kilometers not sure how much in miles one owner garage kept thinking about buying for the price of yours....
For the most part it's stock. Not completely stock. Still a great deal though if you ask me

Was whem you said look who you bought from and this car has mostly been garage kept prpoper routine maintence like oil filters

What's the best way to tell if it's a real one. I'm trying to talk to this guy on marketplace. He wants 4k for it. I'm trying to trade my roughtly $3500 subie for it possibly

found one that needs a tranny put back in it and it has a brand new clutch for 2800 debating on if i should buy

Is the stock sub they come with not a selling point, have most of them already had the sub parted out?
I'm not sure the sub itself is cause a lot of cars come with subs nowadays. What is a good selling point though is that even if the SRT-4 you bought didn't come with the premium audio package (the sub) they did all come with a harness to easily plug the subwoofer in should you find one on the black market

I am having smog issues o2 or cat sensors will not turn on i tried everything!! I need to pass CA smog :/ any help is welcomed?
If the sensors aren't working inspect the wiring on the O2 sensor that could be damaged enough to make an open in the circuit. I'm not sure if there's some sort of fuse protecting the on sensor as a circuit but if there is check it and if it's popped you probably have a short to ground somewhere in the car side of the o2 sensor connector. Pull an electrical schematic and check all the wires on the car part of the connector harness

Does it have a tune ? Sometimes they turn off sensors when tuning .
@@ryand3018 yeah i had a can tune installed from diablosports i3 then i returned the stock tune back on but now the 02/cats sensors dont turn on..i have been daily driving it for like 4-5k miles at all speeds and nothing :/ ...any tip? Diablosport helped me out aswell and nothing happened they told ne to drice it untill they turn back on
Try this.
1. As soon as the engine starts, idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defrost on. OBDII checks oxygen sensor heater circuits, air pump and EVAP purge.
2. Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks for ignition misfire, fuel trim and canister purge.
3. Hold at a steady state speed of 55 mph for three minutes.
OBDII monitors EGR, air pump, O2 sensors and canister purge.
4. Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch. OBDII checks EGR and purge functions.
5. Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks misfire, fuel trim and purge again.
6. Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes.
OBDII monitors catalytic converter efficiency, misfire, EGR, fuel trim, oxygen sensors and purge functions.
7. Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking. OBDII makes a final check of EGR and canister purge

I mean insurance varies hugely depending on a lot of factors like age, credit score, what coverage you want, where you live, etc. Personally I'm 20 and paying $93 a month for liability. You'll have to get in touch with your provider to get details.

Ahhh I see , you said your 1-2 and third is out did you try the shift agp selector and gear extender ?
@@edill4812 The gears aren't out entirely. Just pops out of gear and is hard to engage sometimes. I'm just gonna replace the synchros when I get around to it
