Someone Else's Story by Kerry Ellis, from "Chess in Concert-Live From Royal Albert Hall"
Wikipedia additional information:
«Chess is a musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, formerly of ABBA. The story involves a romantic triangle between two top players, an American and a Russian, in a world chess championship, and a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other; all in the context of a Cold War struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union, during which both countries wanted to win international chess tournaments for propaganda purposes. Although the protagonists were not intended to represent any specific individuals, the character of the American was loosely based on chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer, while elements of the story may have been inspired by the chess careers of Russian grandmasters Viktor Korchnoi and Anatoly Karpov.»

LOVE her voice
She's singing this in the key of F# - you can tell by listening for the note that the bass in the song sounds like it should end on. There's a key change at about 2:16 and it moves the traditional one-step-up to G#. (Reply to Georgia's comment) Side note: This song is posted by different singers, and they're not all singing in the same key.
Jim Bob you really know music...
Jim Bob are you sure the key is f# and not f? it looks like f is the originally published key when i look on musicnotes.com
I have the original published in Volume 2 (mezzo soprano/ belter) of the revised edition of The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology. It starts in G flat major and changes to G major.
this song....too many memories!!!!
BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my go to audition song. I love it so much
I completely agree. I just finished my first singing class and one of the other students sang this song beautifully and is using it to audition for local musical theater productions. I had never heard this song before the class, but it's so haunting and beautiful, everything from the lyrics to the instrumentation to the themes. May you have the very best of luck at your auditions using this beautiful song.
