your take on tcm is always marvelously clear - i'm subscribed because you make things logically click in my mind. these drunken-podcasts are great; i love that you and your guests share the nuances of how you do your thing. : )

question: the super personal points are usually for super deep issues which are not usually on the table in a practitioner/client relationship that deals with physiological symptoms. pulling out the weird points is not appropriate unless you're willing to get psychologically entrenched .. which is a whole other level of care (for both patient and practitioner).
Q: needling the deeply personal points, how necessary is it in basic tcm?

Mahalo for the nuanced conversation about informed consent and use of influence. The idea of safety is not only a do no harm issue, but also a matter of an alignment of expertise and capacity to do no harm in making the client feel safe. The concept of "informed" is where the perspective of the patient has a power differential.

I use NLP, particularly the Meta Model to build rapport & also during intake to gain accurate information. AND… Do Not date patients!!!
