Just a heads up about the season. It was written and planned as ten episodes up until one month before filming. The WB merger was happening and HBO closed their purses, cut the season budget and told the show runner it HAD to be 8 episodes one month before filming. So they had one month to try to do rewrites but then the writers strike happened, which basically resulted in episodes 9 and 10 being cut and the material being pushed back to the beginning of season 3. Episodes 9 and 10 were due to have several climatic things happen that were being built up. The writers strike happened very early into the filming of season 2, the writers are American so they weren’t able to do rewrites during filming instead they had to stretch out what they already had . They were only able to continue to film during the actors strike because the actors are not under the American union that was striking and thus they were allowed to work still. So this season is kind of incomplete sadly, due to no fault of the show-runners. Blame WB and more importantly David Zaslav who has been doing a lot of shrewd cost cutting measures since taking over. He was the guy who shelved a bunch of cruddy movies in order to get a tax write off. He's notorious for self sabotaging his own companies projects in the name of budgeting. He completely threw the show runners under the bus with this but the more people who know the truth the more likely we can back him into a corner and make sure he keeps his hands off of our beloved shows.
This is correct. It’s a miracle the season was as good as it was tbh. One episode was supposed to be a battle from start to end I heard. Blame HBO, David Zaslav and the writers strike.
Alicent went from a woman who would do anything to protect her children to a traitor who is perfectly fine with all of them dying. And it’s not just Aegon who she sentenced either. She also sent Aemond and Daeron(the only other nice child who was having a peaceful life in Oldtown)to their graves as well and may as well have sold off Helaena and Jaehaera into team blacks’ hands as hostages. There is no way her daughter can leave now because most people will see her as an usurper’s wife and want her to die too to prevent Aegon or even Aemond from having more heirs. Aegon never wanted the throne and yet it was Alicent who forced him to be King in the first place. He’s not the nicest person in the world, but in the end, he really got screwed over by his own mother. Alicent is an even worse mother than Cersei was and I honestly feel so bad for all of her children. They were always just doomed to die from the start because of their own selfish mother.
I think that God's Eye is at or near Harrenhal. In fact, isn't that where Alys took Daemon to see the future? 24:27 That is, I think the God's Eye is in the God's Wood...
God’s eye is the name of the lake, there is a gods wood near a lot of castles in the Riverlands still. I think there is theory another Targ king got rid of the last of them. Previously Maegor the cruel demolished his relative there with Balerion the Black Dread. For dragons speed rarely has a chance against another that is larger than it, best they can do is retreat.
Warner Brothers is the suck. To take a massive hit and to cut the show down to 8 just before filming is BS. We needed 2 more for the Battle of the Gullet but nope. Stupidity.
Trust me season 3 will be crazy. Every episode should be a battle and major death. If they saved some money from cutting season 2 short, I bet Season 3 will be their most expensive.
The God's Eye is a large lake located on the shores of Harrenhall. Who is already at Harrenhall? Daemon. So you know what's about to go down. Two of the most feared characters fate is tied together and two of the most terrifying dragons. The Battle of the God's Eye. Stay tuned for that one😉.
Alicent put her sons in this position, for the fear of Rhaenyra putting them to the sword, and now she’s decided she want to go live her best life and let Rhaenyra out her sons to the sword… she effectively birthed and raised her sons for slaughter, then swung the axe herself.
I really can't stop laughing how much they ruined Helaena in that very scene (well, there is also Alicent, Rhaenyra and Daemon but... yeah). In the books Helaena had valid reason as after Blood & Cheese she wasnt herself anymore, she was depressed, didnt walk out of room etc so you could understand. Here even tho she loves riding on Dreamfyre she just "doesnt want to". Show made people side with Helaena in that scene but Aemond is 100% right. If they lose all of them are dead. It doesnt matter anymore if you want to do something or not, you just have to do whatever it takes to win (well, he shouldnt have burned aegon and cripple sunfyre but genius writers strikes again). Later on Aemond tries once again peacefully, he gives his reasons just to be knocked with the "fuck you, you are gonna die anyway" lmao (those "visions" are another huge issue of her character btw)
The only enjoyable part of this season for me was the dragons. All the characters were annoying, the writing was annoying, but hey DRAGONS. I rated season 1 9/10. Season 2 is 3.5/10 and I will probably never rewatch it. I watched season 1 about 12 times.

"You must hold mastery over your dragon as Prince Aegon has with Sunfyre"

It's called the battle of the gods eye! It's the sea around Harrenhal.
13:41 If you turn on the subtitles you'll note that the winds whisper 'traitor' in this section.

The most boring finale who ever was.

Poor puppy, trying not to get his ass kicked when he goes out to pee ;x :D
