@@amirselimbegovic3067 Haldex is used since Passat B6. B5 has torsen. Test shows it's not haldex but apparently you can't see it. Do a research and then you'll see who's the one to laugh at. .
where did you read that and who told you that, Audi only uses Torsen, none of the others, BMW, Mercedes, WW use a Haldex clutch, that is, when the front wheels slip, the rear wheels engage, it's Haldex, in Audi all 4 wheels pull constantly

The Haldex system is fine if you change the fluids, if you don’t then yeah it will fail. Torsen is a lot lower maintenance, but a looked after Haldex system is just as reliable as Torsen.

This is why all the discussions about which AWD system is better makes no sense. It all for 95% depends from ESP/built in car computer (call it what you want) settings. That's it.
Other 5% is the tyres and your common sense.
Just take your AWD car to safe locations (forest road, parking lot, not public area/road) and check by your self what your car is capable.
As a owner of B6 2.0tdi 4motion Wagon will admit, that this test really depicts real capabilities of this exact model.

In my opinion and experience - haldex for everyday use is ok. In deep snow out of yard, muddy forest roads, etc. Just "turn on" your own common sence button in the brain and here you go :) The same with all ABS, ESP and other car safety options.

Ciekawe jak wygląda różnica podczas jazdy na śniegu tzn. czy np. gdy dodamy gazu w zakręcie haldex nagle załączy tył i czy będzie to wyczuwalne w czasie jazdy? Zauważyłem jeszcze taką ciekawostkę, że np. w Volvo haldex wcześniej dopina tył bądź też napęd jest zapięty od startu, jeszcze zanim wystąpi poślizg.
Dobrze zestrojony haldex nie powinien nagle załączać tyłu, szczególnie w zakręcie. Jakiś czas temu wrzucaliśmy na naszym profilu na Facebooku wykres, jak wygląda przebieg momentu trafiającego na tylną oś w zakręcie. Co so spięcia od startu - większość haldexów tak działa, aczkolwiek chyba rzeczywiście Volvo jest tą firmą, która stroi go najlepiej.
Ja mam tą Octavię scout z jednego z filmów z haldexem 2. Powiem Ci że nie ma jakiegoś uderzenia na śniegu że tył się załącza. Co więcej trochę balansując masą i odpowiednio dokładaniem gazu można naprawdę ładnie bokiem polatać w zakręcie. Jednak przy samym dodaniu gazu w zakręcie czuć jak przód idzie prosto bo tył pcha do przodu.
As a normal test, it does make sens. But if you were to swerve to the right or to the left in order for the wheels to catch up on something a little, both of them would have gotten out even with the three tires “locked”. I am amazed that the B5.5 performed a little worse. But on a snowy/slippery terrain, things would have changed drastically, since the Haldex can’t actually catch up to the Torsen. Same thing with taking a corner, the B5.5 would perform better.
Not sure about the corners, not due to AWD system but engine positioning.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Indeed, engine positioning does make a difference. Also how big the engine is (and how heavy), also makes a difference. You could take the 3.6VR6 from the Passat B6 for example (or 3.2). Due to the weight distribution, the B6 with that engine has a little bit of trouble, and the chasis is not fully capable of handling it. Another example is the Audi A6 C6 (not the facelift), which tends to have huge problems in corners (test limiting taking a corner). Anyway, there is a lot to talk about here, but the B5.5 still has the advantage since it's a 50-50 AWD. The weight distribution is also much better compared to the B6, plus the huge difference in suspension. The 1.9TDI, 2.5TDI, 2.3V5 and 2.8V6, weren't too heavy for the car, only the 4.0W8 is questionable on that chasis, although it seems to de doing quite fine.
@@dimitriasimov2140 Are you sure the weight distribution is better in B5 than in B6? I've never checked that but B5 is quite nose heavy due to longitudinally mounted engine quite at front while B6 has transversely mounted engine.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers ano właśnie, obydwa filmy pokazują torseny uliczne gdzie ślimak i slimacznica mają tryby mniej więcej 45stopni do kier jazdy, , a ja do swojego drugiego auta zamawiam wkrótce zamiast seryjnego LSD tylny most z torsenem gdzie ślimak ma tryby 90stopni, i taki torsen wyciąga auto z pułapki nawet gdy jedno koło wisi w powietrzu. I w tym torsenie nie ma żadnej blokady, po prostu przekładnia ślimakowa przepuszcza moment tylko w jedną stronę. Jeśli to co opisałem nie jest zbyt wielkim technicznym hardcorem proszę o słowo komentarza, ta przekładnia dobrze robi w błocie bo widziałem ją w akcji ale szkoda mi Wywalić 5 tys na coś co nie do końca ma prawo działać
@@TheGimboo Za pomocą kątów i tarczek ustala się TBR torsena. Pytanie zatem, jaki TBR ma torsen, o którym piszesz. Nigdy nie spotkałem się z takim, który ma na tyle wysokie TBR, aby wyciągnąć z sytuacji, kiedy jedno koło wisi w powietrzu. Ale też nigdy nie trafił do nas żaden nie-uliczny samochód z torsenem.

Actually that's in the title - one has haldex, another has torsen 🙂 When it comes to differences - we do not judge but we answer all questions and discuss with the viewers.

In that current video, you did not, and I - as a non professional car dude - just assume that B5 has torsen since it is order but can be confusing. I just wanted to help ;)
Czy w tym pasku był EDS? Z nagrania wygląda jakby był niesprawny. Torsen z EDS wg moich doświadczeń trochę lepiej powinien sobie radzić - przynajmniej w terenie widać różnicę TORSEN z EDS vs Haldex.
Bez tego Passat nie poradziłby sobie nawet na dwóch rolkach. Prawie tak samo wypadło Audi A4: ruclips.net/video/LXlfPf3XI8w/видео.html
The haldex is broken something is not okay with this passat. I have been driving one of those and in the moment the front tire slips rear is engaging immediately on average 1 sec. Similar to audi s3 haldex :) hope this helps someone ^^
Is the blue one haldex or torsen model ?
If this is the halex one it is not adequate
It's not broken, you can see in the first test that it's working perfect.
Blue one is B5, it comes only with torsen.
the person says correctly, the Passat B5 clearly has problems with the Torsen, I have the same Passat only with a manual and 1.9 TDI, and after the front wheel starts to slip, the rear one catches instantl

Why don't do a fair test , on time limit (exemple :10 seconds) first 5 second on idle , and if car not take down from rollers , another 5 seconds on full throtle
Traction control doesn't react on idle. Full throttle doesn't make any sense and it's dangerous.
Jestem w szoku, że haldex 4 nie zjechał z 3 rolek a Octavia scout ze starszym haldexem dała radę.
To nie jest kwestia stricte haldexa, a konfiguracji haldex/EDL.
Passat b6 ma haldexa 2 generacji, coś ci się kolego pomieszało.

There's nothing wrong, it behaves just like A4 B6. And it's not possible to not struggle unless all diffs are locked.

I had B5 FWD. Seems like Torsen version was made in cooperation with Toyota, not Audi. 😁
Torsen is a separate company, it's not an Audi invention/product.

I have a Dacia Duster with 3 different lockers! Front axle has a Torsen. Center is Haldex and rear is LockRight. I know and understand the advantages and disadvantages of each locker!!! Haldex and LockRight are automatic, 100% lockers while the Torsen is not!!! The Torsen is a LSD with some advantages and disadvantages. It is OK in my front axle. Not so good in a rear axle and almost useless as a center differential. One wheel spins and you are stuck 😢 Shame on you VW....

Chodzi o to, ze: Wielokrotnie spotkalem sie z gloryfikacja torsena jako tego lepszego, mechanicznego napedu rozmawiajac z wlascicielami Audi/fanatykami napisu „Quattro“. Przedstawiaja oni sytuacje zazwyczaj tak, ze Haldex to nie Quattro i nie zasluguje na to miano, podczas gdy, Twoj test ewidentnie pokazuje, ze jest wprost przeciwnie i to Haldex bije na glowe Torsena.

Torsen, szczególnie C jest świetnym napędem, w tym teście bardziej chodzi o EDL, tu haldex ma przewagę, bo potrafi spiąć osie ze sobą, zatem układ hamulcowy odpowiada tylko za rozdział momentu pomiędzy lewą a prawą stroną (w przypadku torsena musi jeszcze wspomagać rozdział przód/tył). Haldexy I i II rzeczywiście pozostawały daleko za torsenami, od trzeciej generacji zaczęło się to zmieniać (w przypadku VAG od czwartej, bo trzeciej nie stosowano). Obecnie dobrze zestrojony haldex w niczym nie ustępuje torsenowi, a czasami bywa nawet lepszy.

Dziś jeździ nią mój bratanek. Przez CAŁY ten czas marzył mi się ten wyidealizowany i nieosiągalny torsen......aż do dziś do tego filmiku!!!!

@Arkadiusz1231 Miałem kiedyś samochód, którego układ awd zawiódł mnie w sytuacji krytycznej i tak naprawdę to skłoniło mnie do sprawdzenia go na rolkach - w teście zawiódł dokładnie tak samo. Zdarza się, że na testy przyjeżdżają ludzie, którzy od razu mówią, że mają poważne wątpliwości co do efektywności działania ich awd, bo samochody nie dały rady w jakiś sytuacjach - i to samo wychodzi na rolkach (np. Lexusy, Hondy CR-V IV, patrząc na testy zimowe to wkrótce pewnie dojdą Yaris Cross). Wszystkie sytuacje dotyczą oczywiście wygrzebywania się z tarapatów, nie dynamicznego zachowania układu w zakrętach itp.
