That Moonlight greatsword mhmhmhmmm. I always heard that faint singing in this song as the mail characters heavy breathing while traversing the ancient city.
The song that plays in the opening cutscene is called "Envoy" & it's on a compilation album that was released later on, you can find it on RUclips in the video "King's Field Series: Original Soundtrack | High Quality | From Software" at 41:40
If anyone is curious, if you actually play the game this song is pretty awesome when you first encounter it, i thought it even was a boss battle but it wasn't, it plays for a recurring area. The very center of the whole map you get back to a lot of times across your journey. It's way too epic and mysterious for it but it is what it is. I still feel relieved i got to experience the actual game and see for what it was

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that this cover has gotten me through some of the darkest times in my life, i don't know why but this just resonates with me.
It’s a pretty ethereal and melancholic song. Really does something with your mind in terms of introspection. Probably really calming too since it’s like the musical form of a gentle whisper. God bless you, man.
part of me wonders if the moonlight greatsword is just fromsoft's master sword, even if its just their signature weapon per say i hope there comes a day it takes a main stay importance once more.
yup, a lot of fromsoft games have the moonlight sword (armored core etc) demons souls was pretty much a successor to kings field, so in kings field you'll see a lot of familiar enemies, weapons, bosses from demons & dark souls
Actually, King's Field is the original game the Moonlight Sword came from. In this specific entry, King's Field IV - The Ancient City, the lore elaborates a bit deeper into que sword's origins and how it came to be.
No, it's not this track. Very similar, but different. This is King's Field IV Music - 01 - Opening Cinematics, but without "Holy Forest" and voice acting

This game established the Moonlight Greatsword better than Bloodborne. Yes, I said it! Even that game had the best lore for the MLGS in all Soulsborne games.
To be honest, after watching several complete walkthroughs of all parts of Kings Field, I suddenly realized that Miyazaki did not come up with the established concept of Demon Souls himself. This is literally the painstaking work of the studio over the years. And after going through all the Souls games, I found in them that SUDDENLY there was at Kings Field, both my surprise and my contempt for Miyazaki grew. Seeing what the games of the once great series have become now, I came to the conclusion that everything was fucked up for the sake of popularity. What a pity.
This has to be one of the best RPG's ever made. The predecessor of all the souls games ..KINGS FIELD 4 THE ANCIENT CITY. for ps2 UK pal version ps2.. I owned this game 4 times but foolishly sold it for ££17 to CEX..it's now selling for £190. How gutted do I feel. I should have kept it.
You bought and sold it _four_ times? 😂 It feels like there's an interesting story there. I have just as much regret when I remember passing on (at the time) "outdated" games I saw for $5-10 in a bargain bin, that now go for hundreds. We'd never have guessed that games would become so prohibitively expensive.
