I'm glad to see the recent activity on this video inviting and fostering support. We are all living intricate and complex stories and it's easy to forget that, when simplified to our primal nature, we merely wish to survive as a minimal objective. However, humanity's potential would be wasted if we do not also live while we survive, but life happens and the joys of living are often obfuscated along our travels. From video games to churches, we all seek our personal sanctuaries, and I'm glad to see more vulnerability being communicated in healthy ways rather than suppressed and resurfaced as needless animosity. The world is slow to change only when we are, for we are as much a part of the world as the world takes a part in us. Smile during the good days, rest during the challenging ones, and breathe during all of them.
✋😔👌 👏😣 Beautifully stated. Miyazaki himself once said that the driving concept behind the soulsborne series is "beauty surrounded by darkness." That's what your statement is. A beacon of beautiful light, in a sea of ever-encroaching darkness. Thank you. (bow gesture)
If you read this, who came here to rest with us all the tired wanderers of Life at the Bonfire, just know that your fight is a good fight, and you will win. The light will shine again, everything will be all right.
Never ceases to amaze me that out of every game I've played in my 23, almost 24 years of life that this, the music, everything can calm me down and give me peace unlike anywhere else in any game can. It's like when I walk into my room or living room after a rough day at work, I just feel at peace, comfortable, calm, content, e.t.c.
I remember giving Dark Souls a shot in 2020 when I caught Covid. As hard as the game was, it was oddly comforting since it distracted me from being sick. I fell asleep multiple times at Firelink too. Looking back on it in 2024, this song will always have a place in my heart for that sense of comfort I felt back then while being miserably sick. That’s why DS1 is my favorite Souls game.
DS3 has better qualities as a GAME. It may even be a better game, but nothing will move DS1 from the #1 on my list, its my favourite, it just makes you feel something the other games cant, this is miyazakis masterpiece and a great one at that
@@1aquanyeah no other souls game comes close to that level of pure joy of exploration. elden ring is the worst for it imo. sekiro has great combat but no other game will ever live up to that perfect atmosphere of DS1
I noticed what makes part of dark souls immersive The audio quality they take it seriously The soundtracks are in itself a real orchestra masterpiece that was used in ds games The voice actors are from another planet they give life to the character The sorrounding sound like foot steps and wind blowing are clear and close That what makes it special They wanted to you to experience being: The chosen undead The bearer of the curse The ashen one And dark souls are more impactful than elden ring because of the dark and desperate environment In which it pushes you to finish the game in such grim situation that in itself build your real character (you)
There are many emotions tied to the shrine. This is the place I get back to after slaying a boss. This is also the place where I meet my friends. And it is the place where I mourn my losses. Many people come and go but some never return
This is very moving. I wasn't expecting that. Then I read your poem. Bravo sir. You've cultivated something dark, yet warm. Desperate, yet hopeful. I'm 59 and this has affected me. There are many good people out there. It's effortless for those. That's why good will always triumph. I'm late to the party but thank you for this.
Thank you for your lovely comment, it's appreciated! It's important that we can all find comfort and sanctuary somewhere, and DS atmosphere has that unique energy of "There's dangers around me but this spot in particular is safe, so I am safe."
Isn't this all one needs in a dark world? A bone fire, a place of rest, that reminds one of his humanity. Be mindful, to never forget your light, because that is who you are. Good luck, for nothing is granted in this life. I hope to see you again. Stay strong, knight.
Sometime when im getting burned out, i return to this video, watching it aimlessly waitting for the little bonfire inside of me to burn bright like it used to, i want to save everyone, i have to save everyone but im breaking apart, im hollowing, i want to die , but still that little bonfire burn bright eventually and then the cycle continue, until i finish my duty the little flame will alway be there, depressing but consistently like it always will be.
Ah, my back doth ache most grievously; I shall repose here but a brief while, for my journey, is yet long and fraught with toil. I may not rest, while this breath doth fill my lungs, while mine eyes still discern the world, my mind continues to ponder, and my heart remains steadfast in its resolve. Abandonment is no choice. Ha! Verily, many a soul doth depart this world ere they attain threescore and five years. Pray, let not thy fate befall such misfortune. Rest while thou art able and cherish thy moments of respite.
Hallelujah to the Lord my God, for healing my heart during a heart attack! On March 26th 2022, just past midnight, I was laying restless in bed, and I had a heart attack. My arms and legs became tingly and numb, then my chest got tighter, and then my heart felt like it was being crushed. So I sang out to God and Jesus, about my pain, my feelings, my faults and my inabilities. As I sang, I began to feel like a river, and a hand was on my back, it's fingers where skimming the surface, separating the waters, causing ripples through my body. Then the hand reached inside my chest, lit my heart on fire, and the heat moved like waves through my body. When I was done singing, all the pain was gone, and I looked at the clock, it was past 1am, I had been singing near an hour. Then the voice of my guardian angel called my name from above, and there was a hymn of energy in the air, the same hymn I hear in my dreams of God. Hallelujah to the Lord my God for healing my heart! Hallelujah for His son Jesus for saving my soul! Hallelujah for every day! Hallelujah for every breath! The Lord is Faithful and true! May the Lord Bless your hearts!
I adore how these songs, settings and other ambient energies can inspire vulnerability and truth in many of us. A lovely theme and experience to share with us, thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you for the lovely poem and the soothing Bonfire. So far yours is the best I've found (granted it didn't take long but now I don't have to keep looking) with the perfect ambiance, thank you so much.
I once met a Sorceress on an old bridge. She helped me defeat a really tough enemy but when I tried to help her I dripped into a pit and lost her. I am sorry Marceline
I love the poem you’ve made it’s very soothing to be in firelink shrine to rest and just take in your thoughts and consider your options while resting and discover why you’re the only being to either link the fire or let it fade
It's a very meditative piece that's perfect for letting our thoughts surface, acknowledging them, and then letting them drift off as we reflect on them. Music is a speechless therapist 🎶
The remastered bonfire summarizes the remaster. Compare it with original bonfire. Remastered bonfire is just a normal fire. Nothing special about it. Looks like it burns if you touch it. Look at the original bonfire. It's not too bright, more orange than yellow in color. It's more liquid. It's fire tamed by Gwyn. Not only you can touch it, you can drink it. There's a sword, there are bones and there's a fire. They fought for it, they died and fed it with their bones, and they tamed it.
I see behind that other wordly helm, some unfamiliar hope and smile, beside the bonfire, phantoms of warped time and space, I sit alone, dreaming of a place that is flush with rays of gold.
This particular Firelink shrine is special to me, I like ds3, I love Majula and Nexus, but I prefer to come back here as my comfortable place. I know DS1 like my own city and I always came here when I was feeling melancholy
I can't explain this feeling of having this music playing, while seeing the demon prince's arena,is this really what it haves come up to? The place, where i have been always coming back, in ds1, is now merely alive, theres the well, snd lots if structures that have been crumbling through the years, its the end of the world. Even though we may go hollow. It’s the dark sign that actually shows us the light. Humanity may be broken, but we as individuals have a choice. We can always choose to be more. That’s what’s it means to be undead. We refuse to die..

This is the place where I rest. Only me contemplating with my thoughts, and the kindling of the seemingly everlasting flame.
